  • @rongeez990918 Why think either or? Both Trane and Bird were great musicians and innovators for their time. I am in awe of both of them.

  • do anybody have the sheet music to this i got to learn it if u do please sent it to williams580@yahoo.com

  • @Tookrunck27727

The only way to learn jazz is to transcribe.

  • why is everyone saying 7... i only see 6 dislikes

  • @MrDanstud one person must have confirmed and clicked the right button this time ;).

  • bird was my teacher

  • It's confirmed.

  • So awesome.

Would love to see the reaction on hearing this played to some of the great classical masters. I'm sure Bach, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, et al would all agree:Charlie is a master in his own right.

  • The master of improv on any instrument.

A person who doesn't recognise Charlie Parker's genious needs to be walked to exit of the "music crititque institute" and booted out on their ass.

  • IT DOESNT MATTER HOW OLD YOU ARE, JUST SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO THE MUSIC

  • wow ima bari. sax player n my director just gave me the sheet music and said its something i need to know. thiss is gna take a while.

but man this song is so hard

i gotta play this for my jazz audition and idk what to do anybody got any tips on soling on it i dont have to solo on it but i still wanna know im in highshcool

and i love this music so please something useful i already know about the 2 5 1 but any tips

  • @heedboy1 yea man!! I actually played this song for my audition too !! lmao! ummm i kinda winged it for the solo haha but i had some dude play the piano for me and i would just like jam to it till i felt something that flowed. if you really wana get technical you would have to figure out al the key signature for each chord and solo over it and then follow the cord progression. but its actually not that hard once you jam to the song with just the piano .

    good luck man ! :)

  • Comment removed

  • @heedboy1 I don't know how strong your playing skills are, so if I make unfair assumptions I'm sorry. D:

Start by practicing slow if you need to. Work on guide tones, chord-scale exercises, etc. WITH A METRONOME. Figure out how the chords all relate to each other, and put them together. Like a puzzle :D

  • @Thundermonkeyms blacks need no metronome we got the beat baby

  • @TheSatanas666 That's a pretty ignorant statement.

  • @townsend411 That's a pretty white statement, you cant dig the soul of our music its in our blood, no matter how much you practice

  • @TheSatanas666 We're all human beings. Music has nothing to do with skin color. Anybody is capable of playing any kind of music that they are passionate about as good as the next person. Wynton Marsalis has made several classical recordings. I bet if somebody wrote an article about Wynton Marsalis not being capable of ever being able to play classical music as good as a white person you'd be screaming racism like bloody murder. Quit being a racist hypocrite.

  • @TheSatanas666 Your music? Well if you're going to claim jazz as your music you better claim most of hip hop/rap too, and all the soul and thought that goes into that...

  • @townsend411 yes its my music yo you ignorant closed mind fuck, johnny guitar watson liked rap and worked whit snoop dog, john lee hooker liked rap too buddy guys daugther is a rap singer, so if rap its alrigth whit blues legends who da fuck you are to talk shit???? better watch some memphis silim and otis spann videos and learn some real piano

  • Which key is this in? Sounds like F?

  • @Gfromdastreet

    it is in F

  • Amazing sound quality?Where is this taken from bro?

  • Comment removed

  • @AMGuitarInstitute This is most definitely Parker

  • @AMGuitarInstitute its charlie parker I'm looking at the omnibook right now and its note for note

  • fuck people are stupid

  • You cannot like or dislike this song ... it is like saying you like or dislike the moon or the sun ... it is fucking silly... it is the force of nature, it is beyond aesthetic.

  • @roghold ...lame.

  • @Sunderlanding

I don't see why you've got to get involved unless you're one of those numbnuts who does, in fact, dislike this song. It's one thing to complain about -- for instance, motorheadbeard19's comment... "6 people like Justin Beiber"... which is just a huge pain in the ass to everybody. Roghold, on the other hand, speaks the motherfuckin' truth about Bird. Now say you're sorry.

  • @mussman717word I like this song, but saying someone can't like it because of the moon or some shit...that's just lame. Just let it be a song, and let some people not like it.

  • @Sunderlanding

I see your point, I just thought it was kind of poetic, what that guy said. As is already established, shit on all these guys who write stupid crap like "7 people need to be confirmed," or some other bullshit like that. It's just a pain in the ass.

  • @mussman717word Fair enough. I probably overreacted.

  • Mr. Parker is the one and only. But I also think its only music, even by a giant like him. I think the fact that a human being played like him, the human capability part makes it so incredible. I think people who compere music to the sun is silly. I have a feeling that Mr. Parker is the first one to agree with me. The sun...lol. I don`t think you play music.

  • I'm playing this song at a local church for the conformation kids. Haha

  • 5 people have different opinions and taste in music. Stop hating

  • @ajgrocks123 i really started to dig max roach after i heard a quote of his (which right now i'm failing to dig up) about percussionists not having to breath to play their instrument, and therefore their playing having a dead feeling. you can even hear him breath between phrases in some recordings. also, in a historical context, his creativity was unmatched at the time. without him, elvin would not have been banging the way he was, to be sure. (elvin is one of my favorites, too)

  • bad ass song

  • omg this is my shit i cant even play this shit

  • the best alto sax man ever on earth.. backing track can be downloaded from socialsax com if anyone is interested.

  • this was the last tune I played with my ex guitar teacher, quite an emotional listen

  • It's not even fair how hard these licks are and how easy he makes them sound.... Just disgusting.

  • Nice... just nice. On of the best available Bird recordings in the tube. Great head and soloing throughout.

  • I'm a drummer and for some reason I really dislike Max Roach...but this song is so fucking good

  • @ajgrocks123 what is it exactly about max roach that you dislike?

  • @ajgrocks123 - I think understand what you mean - you should check out his drum solos. Very melodic and inventive for the time. I personally don't like his time keeping on this recording, but he sounds good with Clifford Brown on the Clifford Brown w/ Max Roach at Basin street record. If you're not into Roach, check out Art Blakey, Roy Hanes, Elvin Jones, Philly Jo Jones, Jimmy Cobb, etc.

  • @holygroove2 Elvin Jones is my favorite jazz drummer

  • @ajgrocks123 - ooh OK - then just know that Roach's style is very unique, and I think his feeling came from the cymbals that he used. It's like "Jeckle and Hyde" b/c his feeling is so nerdy IMO, but when he solos it's really cool. All of the modern jazz drummers have something that you can learn from. I forgot to mention Tony Williams but I'm sure you're onto him already.

  • @ajgrocks123 - Yeah, Elvin was great, with his polyrhythms. My favorite is still one, from the OLD days - Big Sid Catlett. Dave Tough, Jo Jones, Philly Joe Jones, Blakey, Walter Johnson, the late Joe Morello, We could name others ....

  • @ajgrocks123 You dislike the most melodic drummer ever to play the game? Respect the pros man! That is like me saying I'm a bass player and for some reason I hate Ray Brown or Scott LaFaro... Nope!

  • @KillswitchEngage42 I dislike him just because he's a little too melodic. No doubt I have respect for him but I personally just don't like his style.

  • @ajgrocks123 Interesting. You're the first I've heard to say that :)

  • What album is this on? These later recordings are a testament to Bird's AMAZING sound

  • timeless....

  • The phrasing is so subtle and beautiful. It takes a real man to understand and appreciate jazz..

  • @tpstrat14 or a real woman... just sayin

  • @yeebeascurvydawg Just talking from personal experience. (I happen to be a man)

  • これ、今度のソロ演奏会で吹きます!頑張ります♪

  • Could you guys say Mr. Parke is on speed? Haha. So insane playing!

  • why the fuck are people bringing attention to people who are voting things DOWN

  • @NewgroundsOwnSBB lol.. u just did

  • @tpstrat14 no I'm bringing attention to the people who are bringing attention to people who are voting things down. Difference

  • 6 people like Justin Bieber

  • @motorheadbeard19 Now the stupids are 7

  • @motorheadbeard19 i cant believe he was mentioned in a charlie parker video, seriously grow up and get over the fact that he got lucky

  • Comment removed

  • @motorheadbeard19 7 people hates that music!!

  • im pretty sure those 5 thumbs down are missclicks..

  • there are no words to describe how good Charlie parker was.

  • Charlie Parker went beyond prejudice, discrimination and political borders...This track is just a CONFIRMATION !!! Jazz forever :)

  • I learning this sht on guitar for final exam at school and its really hard to find right fingering!

  • @bakinek I really hope that English is your second language.

  • @nathanvergin I really hope you stop to pushing me...

  • Had to know this song perfectly, hard stuff but incredibly fun to play! long live charlie parker!!

  • diciamolo anche in italiano: ma chi sono quei sei deficienti che hanno cliccato "non mi piace?" Non ho niente contro gli audiolesi, e neanche contro i ritardati; i cretini però danno un pò sui nervi, vero?

  • blues for alice is better lol but this is good

  • This is my favourite peice of music of all time. Simply amazing

  • complete awesome

  • confirmation has a pretty subtle bridge. lots of players lose its distinction. Bird not only makes it fly, but somehow it has that floating bridge feeling. maybe there's like one note that didn't make it into the written transcription :) Just great stuff, like they say: an american master.

  • HOW RETARDED DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO DISLIKE THIS MASTERPIECE?!

THE TECHNIQUE AND GENIUS THINKING OF IMPROVISATION GOING ON HERE IS AMAZING! OTHERWORLDLY!

    TRUE ART!

    LIVE ON BIRD <3

  • miamness, if bebop was a food, id eat it all day

  • some of this talk makes me laugh jazz has no colour .hundreds of examples oscar peterson herb ellis for one .boy did they swing together and the love and respect was there for all to see..lets all keep flying with the bird.

  • Great head bouncing stuff.

I'd forgotten just how good this is. It's been 20 years since I've delved into some Bird. I think a large reexamination is in order.

    Thanks.

  • Charlie " Bird" Parker.....the only man who was ever able to play a plastic saxophone and still make it sound good. ( The " Grafton " Saxophone.)

  • @FmrCQB i think u're talkin about ornette coleman

  • @hashmakers No, I was thinking of Charlie Parker playing the Massey Hall in Toronto in 1953. Ornette Coleman started playing the Grafton much later and only during his early career.

  • @FmrCQB oh thanks, i didn't knew that. :)

  • Bird was the best soloist of all time. Wake up call. I loved Trane and Hub but Bird was the best and still is.

  • charlie is wonderful like bkeys

  • If you're all so adamant they're niggers. Why don't you go into the ghetto and call them that. I'm sure they would appreciate your point of view- the niggers that is. Lol

  • This cat could swing like no one else. He was the Mozart/Bach/Beethoven of jazz!

  • @kimpeccable I agree but Freddie Hubbard is the best soloist of all time even though he plays a different instrument.

  • uh oh someone is a little upset that these black men are moe educated and talented then he is...does he know that there are MANY more lol. dumb ass

  • The best Bird in the best session

  • The first few bars: F "/ Cmi7 A7+/ Dmi7 "/ Cmi7 F7/ Abmi6 Bb7 / Cmi7 D7 /

This guy was incredible... It's like 5 different keys right off the bat.

  • @mjazzguitar F "/ Em7b5 A7/ Dmi7 and its actually 1 key.

  • @mjazzguitar 1 key: F "/ Emi7b5 A7/ Dmi7 "/ Cmi7 F7/ Bbmaj / Am7b5 D7 / G7/ Gm7 C7||

  • @decus69 A7 is in D, F7 is in Bb, D7 is in G, there is only one dominant 7 in any key. As far as "correct" chord progression, you see a lot of variations; Bird was pretty flexible as to allowing his rhythm players to reharmonize.

  • @kimani69870 okay, i'm done - if you want to walk around sounding like a fearful, ignorant, intolerant, backward, country hick - that's your problem.

  • @kimani69870 let me try a different approach: i feel that you may be referring to criminals, pimps, drug addicts, etc. when you use that word. those are sick people who are more than likely the product of negative environmental conditioning (think about it). however, when one uses the n-word, one connotates a history of racism, intolerance and the sub-human treatment of a race of human beings (human beings like charlie parker - perhaps the most significant musician of the 20th century). get it?

  • uooo yeahh, glass of wine, a cigarette, a woman and this, just that I want..

  • @kimani69870 racism is based in ignorance and fear. using the n-word is hateful. you are an idiot. please stop.

  • You fucking morons and your YouTube debates. Get a fucking life.

  • Who are the 5 fucking people who don't like this song?

  • @jabobok786 .... metalheads

  • @jabobok786 Don't know, but imagine they are five people who didn't like this song. Is that a problem?

  • And rap is NOT music. I'm not being ignorant. Ask any musician who has heard it, rap literally isn't music.

  • @monkeys350 Explain please. Make sure you define Rap and Music.

  • Rap is rhymes in rhythm I think. There usually aren't many real notes in real rap, just rhythms you know? For it to be music, it's got to at least have that melody. And if it does, isn't it hip hop? Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against rap. I believe it's a different art, that's a lot like music, kind of like dancing, right? It started out in music, but now it's gotten to the point where, most of the time, it's drums and that low bass line. Please don't think I'm hating, I respect rap.

  • @monkeys350 To say a genre of music is literally not music is ignorant in it self. Rap (sort of an abbreviation for rapping) is a verb, hip hop is a genre and pertains more to a culture.

    Ex.

    Ke$ha raps, Ke$ha isn't hip hop.

  • @gotmeagrape If you're talking about rap as a verb, then it isn't music. There are no notes. Lol Ke$ha? All she does is use auto-tune.

  • @monkeys350

It doesn't matter how many musicians say it isn't music, its still music. I do however agree(being a musician myself), that rap today lacks talent. Most of the talent in rap is in the production side. It used to at least take some very clever lyrical skills. Now it seems that most of that is gone. SOME people today are still talented though. I almost threw up when I heard, "Teach Me How To Dougie", wtf is that shit.

  • @feltgrape see, I can agree and see where you're coming from on that. To say a genre of music is not music is near idiotic

  • @monkeys350 Define 'real note.'? I'm not a rap fan but I think rapping does use notes. To say rap is not music is also very ignorant. I don't think your're hating, by the way.

  • @darkoanton5 Yeah that comment was a while ago I realize I was wrong now.

  • @monkeys350 "There are no notes". So you're saying drummers aren't musicians? Lmfao

  • @gotmeagrape Didn't say that. Drums are sounds, what I meant is that there are not tones. But you knew what I meant, you just want to argue with me. I don't want any hostility man. Like Marvin Gaye said, "Only love can conquer hate." Of course that's not his saying but I like when he sings it lol.

  • @monkeys350 That's fine. I hope people correct me when I say ignorant things...

  • @gotmeagrape Listen to "A Milli," perfect example. There is no melody, no harmony, no chord structure throughout the whole song. That's all I'm saying. If you're going to argue with me now, tell me how I'm wrong.

  • @gotmeagrape Rap as a genre is music, but rapping itself is not musical. Rapping takes skill, but not much MUSICAL skill.

  • @monkeys350 Last post. You just contradicted yourself

  • @gotmeagrape I have a feeling you don't understand most of the things I'm saying, but whatever, I'm probably just being dumb.

  • @monkeys350

Rapping is musical because there are different rhythms you can do. Making rhythms is music, look at all percussion bands. A good rapper will try to come up with unique rhythms and unique lyrics. And also, you can hear good rappers follow series of notes. They're not singing, but it has a melody.

  • Not only music, a way of life... i love jazz =)

  • brilliant sound quality! not bad for 1953

  • @johnnydiggle This version is maybe a remastered version.

  • @johnnydiggle I don't think it's the original sound quality. It might be a copy of the original onto a CD or something.

  • i dunno. i think i could swing harder

  • 5 people gave this a thumb's down. 5 people have a lot to learn.

  • @jaimepaullamb Meanwhile, 298 people are brilliant and appreciative of Bird's music.

  • @jaimepaullamb he's the master no question.

  • @jaimepaullamb or they have malformed thumbs...

  • If you don't know Bird...You need to ASK somebody !

  • this guy is awesome

  • miss you bird...

  • Percy Heath had some of the awesomest facial hair ever, it is not showed off in this pic tho :(

  • @FOEW122 Yeah basically my whole inspiration is Charlie Parker and I'm 14. I think he is the best Saxophonist that has ever lived. But yeah I like some music from today also

  • 笑ってこらえて見てたら コンファメーション聞きたくなった

  • Excellent playing by all musicians! I especially dig Percy Heath's bass-solo, his wonderful sound and choice of notes is on full display.

  • I heard a lot great players "take" at Charlie Parker but his was original and none sounds as good as Shinji. She brings an original favor to his music. And to all those hater of Charlie Parkers music it because you can't play or that you can't appreciate his genius. Beefforyou maybe your friends at school are just ignorant to history, but just keep striving in your on style thats whats most important.

  • My favourite Bird!
