WOW!! I cant beleive how awesome looks.. Your doing a GREAT job.. I could only dream of putting something like that together.. I might have to hit you up someday and pay a premium for a mod. haha nice work.
Very nice swap bud!!! Does the DOD still work as it would normally? I can't get over how clean everything looks. It all ties together perfect. Great job!!!
My hat is off to you man!! This blows me away. Especially how you keep all the luxuries of the monte in the Fiero! Everything looks great so far and that malibu dash is spot on. Oh and nice Brazen Orange '06!
WOW, this is an amazing swap, you have done so much to this car!! i love all the custom adapted gauges, radio, and buttons!!! this is probably the coolest fiero ive ever seen. cant wait to see the final product. SUBSCRIBED
u should take a video when your doors are done and the car is completly done . nice paint job. how long did it take u to do to all the wires for the pedals and dash??? and then get the dash to fit?
So. Freaking. Gorgeous. Rick, if I got in contact with you in a few years with a very large amount of money, would you build me a Fiero? You would have as much time as you would like and all the resources I could provide. I would make it worth your while. PM me.
I only do this as a hobby. I would never accualy make money on this.
BUT "IF" I were to do a "high end" swap I would LOVE to do a 6 speed manual (F40) G6 tranny on the new GM E-Rod crate engine. 430 HP smog legal in all states;)
Amazing! One of the cleanest Fiero's that I've ever seen. I just have 2 questions though, how much did you lower the front and rear? Like how much are the gaps between the bottoms of the fenders to the bottoms of the tires? Also, what size tires do you have? The stance is perfect, something that I've been looking for for my 88 GT
I have lowered the car several times to get the best hight. BUT the latest is the best BY FAR.
I took out the stock front 88 springs and installed them in the rear. They will fit and are stiffer than the stock rear 88GT springs. I did not cut them, just drop them in.
Then I installed 87GT springs in the front. They are cut exactly 2 coils and are stiffer than the stock 88 springs. They also are a direct bolt in AFTER you cut them down.
@welditrick Thank you for your detailed response. I will definitely look into purchasing a set of 87' springs. I just hope I won't start scraping over speed bumps ;)
To get the car at a "stock" ride height cut less off the springs before you install them. Bounce the car a few times and roll it back and forth a few times. Remember that the car will settle about .25" or so in a few hundred miles so dont be to agressive with the cutting. Start at a high ride height then cut them short a little at a time.
@welditrick Sadly, I've been unable to find a set of 87'GT springs. I'm thinking about reinstalling my stock '88GT springs after cutting 2 coils. I'm curious to see if it'll yield the same results. Did you have to cut the front bump stops after lowering your car by any chance?
Dont cut two coils off of the 88 springs. They will be WAY to short. The 87 springs are much taller than 88 springs. That is why you have to cut them first. They are so tall you not be able to install them without a cut.
That is OK, the car is a lot of fun to drive. I LOVE the twisty roads. I am not as much into the drag strip, the fun is in turns. BUT it can hold it's own in a straight line;)

imagine a modern mid engined gm car with 3.6L V6 and a similar interior. it'd give the cayman a run for its money :) how does your car handle?

I have had the car for about 5 years? It used to have a Short Star V6. It was a 3.5 all aluminum version of the Caddy North Star.
This LS4 has about 100 extra HP and 100 extra tq over that engine swap.
So this car has been "under construction" for a while. But the LS4 and Malibu dash took between 4-6 months of hard work.
