countries should just be a geographical guide to where something o someone is when you are explaning something. Its the only reasonble thing its got.I mean how can I be proud(In my case) of 3million people of wich i might know about 200 in person and seen about 100 000.Why shoul I be more proud about something done by a spainsh person than for a french person. Living in the stupid country limits that some king established ages ago makes them get more points or something?
I live in Britain, Liverpool to be exact, and absolutely love the people of France, Japan, America, Spain and other places I have been. But it is the people I admire, and also thier culture. Such things as common decency and morality are not limited to political borders.
National pride is merely people's attempts to give thier life meaning through the actions of others. It's equal to the humanism that states that the achievements of one human equals the achievements of all. Eg: humans can fly planes, therefore humanity is great. Why look towards one nation when you can look towards the world?
Belgium! Ah, King Leopold. Redefining the standards of senseless colonial brutality, with aftershocks felt even today with the artificial distinction between Tutsi and Hutus. I might write a book some day about the Belgian Congo. I doubt it would be a very happy book. :p
You're right! Belgium! By far the most violent colonial masters in Central Africa in the 19th century. Yes, sorry, forgot all about them, but I hope that my current commentary about them now makes up for my momentary amnesia. :-)
hope you enjoy France, I want to live there
