Very significant find. Most notably the coral living what has to be brackish water in mouth of the river. I am not sure shopping carts or bicycle frames are significant when it comes to identify pollution though, but I can understand why you would use that imagery for people why do not understand what effects coral growth, ie.. if they can't see it it isn't an issue. The real issues with the coral reef is run off from fertilizer, and High density(smart-growth?? )construction.

Great talk Colin, fascinating to learn of the hybridization of the corals just hope the species can hang in there; will be interesting to see population of the hybrid corals in the future if the dynamite doesn't get them all.

@kcffwhite This could be the key to healthy reefs in a changing climate. These species need to be preserved! And I'm sorry you don't care, and you think it's a boring waste of time, but don't be a jerk about this and maybe next time don't leave a comment.

Maybe the national coral reef experts meeting in Florida next week for the National Coral Reef Task Force could take up this issue to save the Fisher Island Hybrid - Miami's Super Coral.
