Top Secret is probably the greatest drumline thee is out there. The timing and execution is impeccable. There is nothing else like them. I have followed drum corps. but nothing can compare.
A great idea, with extraordinary showmanship. A lot of rudimental percussion action. Wonderful general effect, but not "clean" drumming. When all is said and done, the young percussionists in DCI's world class-level corps have pretty much perfected the art of unison drumming using large drum lines. There was a time that the "old-style" competing drum corps had some remarkable drum lines,as well.

If you compare this to SCV or BD, you will realize how much better drum core is. The sound of the snares is muddy. You cannot always tell what they are playing. This is something that a college drumline would play at a football game. Music is easy, drill is easy and the only two visuals are back sticking and stick flips/toss.
Reminds me of something out of that movie all drummers are embarassed by: "Drumline" *ahem

They are not a full time corp. If you gave the entire BD line 50 hour a week jobs during the summer, and expected them to play at DCI caliber, you would see different results. Even DCA corps, and college corps get more rehearsal time.
If you don't like it DON'T WATCH IT. It's as simple as that. Even a simpleton like you can get that. Go tweak your guitar and let the rest of us enjoy it. We don't need your crappy coments. If you can't say something nice then shut your pie hole.

Reminds me of the style we used to march in the American DCI drum corps in the '70s and early '80s, when the lines used to stay in one big block all the time, do lots of stick stuff, and ram notes.

They were pretty good! There were some insanely minor timing issues that I only caught cuz I'm that big of a perfectionist...haha, but overall it was a REALLY nice job!!

The only negative comments i ever see on this video are from americans claiming that the US drumlines are so much better. I'm not saying they're no good, obviously US has a lot of great drum corps, but they dont exactly win every international competition they go to, so they obviously have some decent opposition, and some drum corps are definately better
i love how so many people think its really unclean even though its in a HUGE stadium they're doin more flashy stuff than some DCI corps and the video quality has alot to do with the way the reverb is percieved.. so keep your mouths shut if your gonna criticize these guys they are very good and sell the show very well
Yeah, you sort of figure that the flags should be somewhat of a giveaway. Of course, recognizing flags demands some knowledge of the world, which some people are a bit short on.
My 9th time watching this in the last 2 week. Everytime its Epic, I play the Snare with a Sea Cadet Band - We okay but Damb they Tight. I would say Top Line. I loe the Ending and the part with the flags inbetween I Love all of it.
i know these guys are volunteers (not army) but by the love of christ, give em meddals name streets after them or even a national holiday, awsome just pure awesome.
I'm from the US, I'm an Army Wife to a soldier on duty in Korea. Irregardless of my ties to the military, you cannot, I repeat cannot do anything but sit in awe and appreciation after watching something like this! The dedication, timing and respect for their country and passion goes without saying. Everytime I watch it, it becomes even more moving!
I don't know that it is fair to compare these guys to what you would see from the Cavs, Blue Devils, etc. It's an entirely different style of drumming. I didn't especially care for the way the drums were tuned (especially the bass drums!), but they executed pretty well and, most importantly, I enjoyed the show.
xylowave, you couldnt have said it better. Its like comparing poker to blackjack. They both use cards but they games are different. I dont care anyways, I think these guys are great and I really enjoy watching them!! Thats all that matters and why they do it in the first place!

Yeah, I have seen the cavaliers, Blue Devils, The Phantom Regiment, Madison Scouts, and too many more to list here. I was still never impressed as much as these guys. Just my opinion. The Troopers from Wyoming were probably the closest. I live in Wisconsin so there is always someone nearby during the summer performing.
I still say these guys are phenomenal and I have yet to see any other perform in a way that I could just watch over and over.

My 9th time watching this in the last 2 week. Everytime its Epic, I play the Snare with a Sea Cadet Band - We okay but Damb they Tight. I would say Top Line. I loe the Ending and the part with the flags inbetween I Love all of it.

I'm from the US, I'm an Army Wife to a soldier on duty in Korea. Irregardless of my ties to the military, you cannot, I repeat cannot do anything but sit in awe and appreciation after watching something like this! The dedication, timing and respect for their country and passion goes without saying. Everytime I watch it, it becomes even more moving!

I don't know that it is fair to compare these guys to what you would see from the Cavs, Blue Devils, etc. It's an entirely different style of drumming. I didn't especially care for the way the drums were tuned (especially the bass drums!), but they executed pretty well and, most importantly, I enjoyed the show.

xylowave, you couldnt have said it better. Its like comparing poker to blackjack. They both use cards but they games are different. I dont care anyways, I think these guys are great and I really enjoy watching them!! Thats all that matters and why they do it in the first place!

Yeah, I have seen the cavaliers, Blue Devils, The Phantom Regiment, Madison Scouts, and too many more to list here. I was still never impressed as much as these guys. Just my opinion. The Troopers from Wyoming were probably the closest. I live in Wisconsin so there is always someone nearby during the summer performing.
I still say these guys are phenomenal and I have yet to see any other perform in a way that I could just watch over and over.

Misterate, simply repeating jargon like 'dirty' does not make it relevant - these Swiss drummers are from a different tradition, a much older one, than the American contests on which you seem to base your comments. Their snare drums are not what you are used to; they are in fact playing with incredible accuracy, musicality and synchronization. America has many fine traditions; it can only benefit you to recognize and understand the virtues you will find elsewhere in the world.

Their snare drums are actually the most commonly used drum in DCI, pearl championships. Nevertheless, they are awesome and they put on a great show.
