This would be the greatest thing I've ever seen... IF it had a detailed world map printed onto it. Still probably one of the coolest things I've seen recently though.

I calculated a 72 inch diameter spherical piece of granite to be around 19420 pounds. Probably not hollow.

how do they make it perfectly round? Hammer and chisle?
TactiFred 3 months ago
@TactiFred Special machines they put them through. Giant circular vibrating grinders polish them down to the circle.

Granite averages 168 lbs per ft cubed, a 72" sphere would have a volume of 112 ft cubed, which would put it's weight at 18,900 lbs.

how do you polish them
johny27ful 11 months ago
@johny27ful with a rag or towel.
passion4drums 10 months ago
do you know anything about stone work im working in stone industry for 10 years and you dont polish with a rag or towel mite
johny27ful 9 months ago
@johny27ful do you usually use something? because since it's got water flowing around it all the time it's most likely safe to use a towel for it.
passion4drums 9 months ago
Thanks for posting! How do you control the direction or speed of rotation for the sphere?
CuriousEarthMan 1 year ago
Beautiful work. you must be proud, but next time don,t let the comments get to you, there are too many little people to respond to them all,
and talk more on how it was made. inquiring minds want to know. Thanks for sharing.
