What is so bizarre about Mark Sanford's sex scandal? Is it because this young white male thinks it is bizarre for white folks to have "latin lovers?" I sense a bit of racism here. Also, why is not possible to compare someone to HItler and Stalin "at the same time'? Were they not both leaders of self-proclaimed socialist governments. For someone who has covered the right for 6 years he doesn't seem to understand simple and common political slurs. Maybe he should study this movement a little more.
Mark Sanford's disappearance was exceptionally strange and bizarre considering he said he was hiking and his excuse was that he was weak (needed god's guidance). Also, conflating Hitler and Stalin as two examples of socialism is like me saying that George W. and Ahmadinijiad are poster boys for free elections. Were they not both leaders of self-proclaimed democratic governments? For someone who goes on Youtube alot he doesnt seem to understand history. Maybe you should go read a WWII book?
So Mark Sanford lying about his whereabouts is exceptionally strange and bizarre? There are many examples of strange and bizarre going-ons in the world, Mark Sanford cheating on his wife doesn't seem to me to be one of those. But, perhaps some of us have lived more sheltered lives than others. While I would agree with you GWB could be considered a strong proponent of democracy albeit naive in my opinion, Ahmadinejad's Iran has some work to do on that end. According to the recent news anyways.
Ahmadinejad needs to do some work on democracy in Iran? The "work" on Iran's democracy was done 56 years ago when the U.S. - via the CIA - deposed the elected Prime Minister Mossadeq to install the brutal, repressive Shah. Twenty-five years later Iran revolted against the Shah. The CIA's actions were referred to as Operation Ajax. This is not a matter of conjecture. Thanks to the FOIA, the documentation is now public. Read 'All the Shah's Men' by Stephen Kinzer, or any other book on the topic.
You are merely repeating the same history anyone that watches the news for 2 minutes already knows. We started out talking about how Stalin and Hitlers governments had similarities like over-reaching government control, which is what conservatives in this country have traditionally rallied against. It seems to me Max Blumenthal has no understanding of American politics if he can not grasp this common political comparison. So why is he writing a book about conservatives if he doesn't get it? SME?
Conservatives rail against government because they want to privatize government functions: A program underway since the senile Ronald Reagan was in office. All of which amounts to theft of the American taxpayer. I have no problem with government as long as you get something for your tax dollars. With conservative Republicans what you get is the over-inflated costs of privatization & the steady disintegration of services such as public schooling. And the out-of-control costs of health care.
Well what government functions are they trying to privatize exactly? Health care has long been a function of the private sector that the government has attempted to acquire. The government forces car insurance on us and those costs are still out of control especially if you are under 25. Around 30% of the population already receives a form of government health care and the costs are still going out of control for those programs, so much so that the government is demanding more money for them.
The details on privatization can be found in Thomas Frank's 'The Wrecking Crew: How Conservatives Rule.'
Going back to Reagan's 1984 Grace Commission (staffed with 160 corporate executives and 1 represntative of labor) the underlying theory of privatization schemes has been that they are "more efficient." To date, not a single study has been undertaken to find out if such a claim is actually true. Government answers to the people. Privatization schemes answer to small cliques of owners.
Examples: Private corporations collect our taxes & work in the Budget Office (NYT 4 Feb 2007). And how about those no-bid contracts for Katrina recovery or Iraq? The DoD and Homeland Security regularly accept contracts that COST taxpayers far more than if a government agency had undertaken the same tasks. In 2006 the General Services Adminstration actually tried to outsource the job of supervising private contractors!
The Bush 2 admninstration boasted that, during GWB's terms in office, they had decreased the number of civil servants to the lowest levels since 1950, despite that Bush presided over one of the greatest expansions of spending in US history.
Conservatives in government prove that "goverment is the problem" (Reagan's axiom) by placing the least competent persons in government positions. In addition, most private contract workers doing the same jobs as civil servants are paid 2-3X more.
In 2000, FEMA was a well-run federal agency whose members reported high morale and job satisfaction. After 2000, GWB appointed right-wing Texan Joe Allbaugh ,a man with zero experience in disaster management. Allbaugh filled FEMA posts with political appointees & pals such as Michael "Heckuva job Brownie" Brown, to whom Allbaugh ceded FEMA's reigns in 2002. FEMA then became part of DHS & outsourcing increased exponentially. The morale of career FEMA people hit an all-time low.
The upshot was a disaster, both during and after Katrina. Example: Whereas previous post-disaster rebuilding enlisted local workers, GWB's version of FEMA awarded no-bid reconstruction contracts to engineering conglomerate CH2M Hill, the Fluor Corp, the Shaw Group (client of Joe Allbaugh) and Bechtel, infamous military contractor & employer of retired right-wing politicians.
In Oct 2005: These & others gather in Washington to chortle over the $1 billion in contracts handed out.
So I ask you: If you've read through these posts, by privatizing the function of a government agency such as FEMA, what exactly have the American people gained? And what, exactly, have the American people saved with respect to expenditures?
Asnwers: They've gained nothing and paid more to greedy sons-of-bitches who should be put down (preferrably with an economically-sound method such as stoning) like the rabid thieving dogs that they are.
FEMA has been around since 1979 and is still a worthless government bureaucracy as Katrina illustrated. No bid contracts are as capitalist as Stalin and Hitler. No bid contracts are socialism. It is the government deciding who does what with no competition. Now I don'y know why you believe GWB is the epitome of capitalism and free market, but according to you Max Blumenthal is a journalist. Both parties are big government parties the sooner you realize that, the better.
"FEMA ... is ... a worthless government bureaucracy as Katrina illustrated"
If you consider that FEMA in 2005 - staffed as it was with unqualified incompetent political appointees whose task it was - as part of a conservative agenda - to demonstrate that governmernt is the problem (i,e, dysfucntional) succeeded in doing what it set out to do: Prove their own incompetency while stuffing as many public dollars as they can into private bank accounts.
At least you own to no-bid contracts being far from the "free market" conservatives claim they worship.
Furthermore, in your blanket criticism of FEMA, you completly ignore disasters such as Hurricane Andrew & the Loma Preita & Northridge earthquakes after which FEMA functioned in an exemplary fashion. Why? Because the people who worked for FEMA aduring those times actually did their jobs, as opposed to the Bush admin's cronies handing out gov. cash to the highest bidder.
And you don't believe that George Bush is the epitome of capitalism? I thought that's what all good little Republicans screamed every day of their miserable little lives?
Have you read Max Blumenthal's book? Until you do, you really have no room to talk about his supposed worth (or lack thereof) as a journalist.
Meanwhile, stick to reading the latest missive from Glenn Beck. That's probably more your intellectual level. Now THERE'S an unbiased "journalist", I'll tell you what! (snicker)
I am glad you brought up Glenn beck because he is definitely comparable to Max Blumenthal. How you can call them journalists is beyond me I prefer to think of them as party hacks.
I don't call it journalism, but yea it is the same. I don't watch Glenn Beck or Max Blumenthal, so i'm definitely not a subject matter expect; therefore I will not be writing a book about it as Max Blumenthal has done with about the same knowledge of the right-wing in America. But, from what I have seen neither of them are very thoughtful. They are party loyalists. They attack the opposing side for pay and offer no valid argument or thought other than what they have been handed down by the party
You don't watch Max Blumenthal? Then what are you doing posting on one of his videos? Do you always click on videos and start typing random shit about which you don't have a clue?
How do you know what Max is about if you (a) don't watch his videos and (b) haven't read his book?
How you comment, obviously, is based on pre-judged opinions of someone or something, i.e. you're a rigid idealogue with limited critical faculties. You're losing credibility, Ignatz. Losing credibility.
No I don't watch is show. I have seen some videos of him here on youtube. I saw this one and I commented on it specifically along with one more. Am i allowed to do that? LOL
Hmmm. Glenn Beck is not a journalist? The single YouTube channel you've subscribed to seems to think he is. Perhaps you should alert them to this fact.
But watch out. They might just kick you out of the movement ... for heresy. (You know those pesky conservowhackos. They run a tight ship.)
Regardless of the official name of his party, Hitler was not "a socialist." Hitler, little boy, used the word socialist in his party's name to get the people behind him.
After coming to power, Hitler did the following:
1. Outlawed unions
2. Outlawed German communist parties
Wow. Some socialist.
Idiot conservatives like yourself have attempted to rewrite history all over the internet. Intelligent people know better. Intelligent people know the truth.
Does this Blumenthal have a superiority complex? Sounds like an elitist who would be comfortable in either party as long as he would be acknowledged as part of an American aristocracy. The aristocrats always require a larger government in order to show the mental midgets (us) how we should live, what we should eat, how much of our money we are allowed to keep after taxes, who we should hear on the radio. The elites of both parties set out to destroy Palin, maybe she is too much like us.
Republican senators of the floor of Congress have been spewing repeatedly for week on end, that the Democratic Health Care bill ... will kill grandmas, kill our US Vets, kill infirm children etc.
Where were you to complain about all these lies? I know you were laughing your ass off.
But when a decent Democrat return the favor to the RatpubliKKKons ... now you cry "B.S."
How hypocrite of you ... or should I say How RatpubliKKKan of you !!
Well said, libro. Grayson said it best later: treat the bullies as they treat you and they cower as cowards are wont to do.
Fact is, this country is a dysfunctional family; Democrats are the adults who argue with each other, make mistakes, but get things done. Republicans are children; they scream and yell and say crazy-ass shit and the adults in the room let them get away with it most of the time because "kids will be kids." But when an adult behaves that way, the kids can't handle it!
It seems an apt metaphor, doesn't it? I guess I modified something Al Franken wrote in one of his books; having been written during the Bush admin, Franken wrote that Republicans love their country like a child loves it's parent -- believing the parents can do no wrong and blindly supporting those parents. A Democrat, however, loves her country like a spouse or lover; sure, it's great when it's good, but needs maintenance, even criticism from time to time -- counseling when shit goes real bad.
If by a "plan" you mean a one thousand plus pages of B.S. like Democrats have, then no, there is no such plan. Republicans have outlined numerous solutions, ideas and proposals for ways to make improvements to the current health care system.
Besides the GOP and GOP Leader websites, you can check Rep. Paul Ryan's website for his health care reform proposal. There is a video of him outlining his proposal at the top of my favorites' list.
Oh you mean ammendments... everyone knows they have ammendments.. and some of them have in fact been included in the plan.. so I really do not see how you can say that they are being ignored... Of course they are not getting every little thing they want.. nobody is.
By the way in that 1000 page plan the republicans have atleast 65 ammendments... so they did in fact contribute to it. That plan was not done by democrats alone. You really should do your research.
Where do you get this "at least 65 amendments" number from? Because every GOP amendment that I have heard about has been voted down on a strictly partisan vote. Anyway, you're talking about the Senate, where they have no choice but to include Republicans to a point. In the House, Speaker Pelosi has made sure that Republicans have NO input into her bill, whatsoever!
Google it.. it is common information. They just whine a lot when they don't get what they want so of course you will hear more about those things.. They could not sell themselves as victims if the truth were out there all the time. Thanks to them we now have this Baucus bill which by the way is crap and will hurt a lot of people if it passes. I bet that makes you happy as hell.
RebelStangll - this guy will be the first one running out when Obama shows up with Antichrist and forms a new post called Czar of the founding of the UNHOLY trinity coallition of churches! ......he'll run out with ~~~Palm branches waving and kneel as he looks up and then realize he is staring into doll's eyes and he might have been a little hasty in trusting ANY of Obama's group of grifters and godless drones....and it appears from your post YOU SAW THRU the miss-oracles inside the Obama BILLS!
You're right rebelstang, these liberals are the biggest liars and hypocrites on the planet! They magnify every Republican indiscretion a thousand times, while totally ignoring the massive sea of fraud, filth and corruption in their own party! These vile Democrat hypocrites make me sick! It's disgusting the kind of B.S. and lies against Republicans that they pull out of their asses! And then these stupid ass brain-dead liberals actually believe this s - - t! It's so pathetic.
I went and did a background check on Max. He has a habit of looking for the worst of society and use it to stereotype the rest. If I did that, I'd say ALL democrats are rapists and slave drivers and thiefs. Luckily, I judge by the individual actions, not what Joe Blow who is drunk and just venting does.
When people want to tear down groups like that, it's because they feel threatened. They think if they can belittle you enough, you'll give up. He's wrong.
~ thank you NotaBeetleFan! .......your last sentence REALLY helped me today...........you said ......"they think they can belittle you enough, you'll give up."....and you are so correct = they are WRONG!..........Obama thinks he can get up on that podium and say "I want only people who will move forward"............???............and thinks that makes anyone who is asking WHAT IS IN THIS BILL? Print it Word for Word! And put a Dollar amount on it!! ....will make us shut up from asking? NOPE!
Max just made the worst political decision of his career. Good work Max! Have you seen the ads aired in Montana about his decision. Doesn't look good. That fuck has received close to 4 MILLION from private health insurance companies and I have made it a little mission of mine to make sure everyone knows it. Same with the other 4 Democrats that voted against the public option.
Give me a reference and i'll take a look at it.... a link, a website, a video, .. anything... cuz I gotta take what you wrote with a grain of salt. Until then, "that fuck" is still my hero and that's just my humble opinion.
I am talking about Max Baucus. If that is who you are talking about, I have dozens to send you. Better yet, go to the seach line on YouTube and type in Max Baucus. That fuck should go back to Montana and stay the fuck out of Congress. He has been bought off by the private health insurance companies. Go to Open Secrets to check that out!
lol. you didn't read my comment properly. I was obviously talking about Max Blumenthal.... this is a video by Max Blumenthal, hence, i'm referring to him. Max Baucus... hehehe... i pay no attention to him :). But thanks for at least willing to send videos anyway.... I think MAX
You're smart people at The Nation. Get real jobs. The same goes to the Right-wing loonies like Michelle Malkin. You have the intelligence to contribute significantly to society. Stop hocking those books and making scratch from the lecture-circuits.
Smart, narcissistic, lazy Americans brimming with ambition for the easy buck.
Research the "C" Street house. There is nothing that is not true about what this guy is saying. If you are not interested in the truth, go to some Fox News videos.
looks like a great read, i would have to agree with his assessment. another great book that touches on this subject is "grand new party" which was written by 2 rightwingers who basically say the same thing. that the dominence of the radical religious right is forcing the moderate intellectual conservatives out of the party.
look up "christian exodus" for a frightening example of what these individuals want. cont.-
christian exodus is a group based in south carolina who desire to have as many conservative christians move to SC in order to dominate state politics and secede from the union in order to create a theocratic state nation. the constitution party has a similar desire to rework the US into a theocratic nation, Sara Palins husband was the head of the alaska constitution party and only joined the GOP after his wife was given the VP offer.
I think the plan is to have wack job "Christian Leaders" create enough scandal to discredit Jesus, when clearly none of them are actually doing as God commanded. So we get an evil right wing and an evil left wing so our only hope is to look for help from outside our constitutional system. God said that there would be a falling away coupled with a type of faith but lacking the true power behind it. The One world government is comming very fast now.
The PUBLIC OPTION is NOT dead. Make your calls and demand not only the public option but also that they use the reconciliation option. If you don't have the numbers you can find them on my profile. While you are there take the time to sign the petions that are located in the comment section of my profile. There you will find a winde variety of resources you may find useful. Together we can and will so this. Thanks.
I'm not real worried about it.. You removed it twice so I won't bother. You were right I just put it there to piss you off.. I have it on my own channel of course and I have also posted it in several other areas.. so there really is no need to post it there.
I only removed one message from you, the one I told you about last night. I'm having problems with my comments page now because my e-mail is showing comments that aren't being posted on the page, and I'm just now being notified about posts made three days ago. Anyway, I only removed the first comment.
Truce time...only for a minute....many posters are having serious issues with their comments on their videos and some folks are even having issues with messages disappearing from their home page channel comments. Y T must be getting ready for another upgrade/revision.
Yeah, I have heard that YouTube is going to upgrade all channels to the new format within a few days, so maybe that's why alot of people are having these problems and glitches. Thanks for the info., I appreciate it.
seems to be pattern with you smarty. you block other people from your channel because you can't handle debate. even when your extended the same courtesy, you it from others. sheer hypocrisy of course.
I don't keep any comments on my profile good or bad... not because I am afraid of debate but because I have information that I do not want burried in my comment section. It is a service I provide to others. People can leave comments if they choose to however they are all deleted once I respond to them. People who are only interested in being rude or spamming my profile are blocked.. the way I see it they can do that on any given thread. Would you like to debate something?
Are you for real? Do you really consider what you're doing a "service?" LOL The way you twist words around is incredible. By any chance, do you now or have you ever worked for ACORN? Because you sound like those ACORN employees trying to come up with a new name for prostitution. Do you want me to send you the video?
If you were actually providing a service, you wouldn't just have left-wing B.S. propaganda posted. You would have info. about the GOP's alternative health care plan posted.
That's why it's pathetic to have a sick SOB like Grayson spewing his B.S. so weak-minded people like you can mimic and parrot it all over the Internet! That scumbag should be ashamed of the way he's making asses of you people by repeating his psycho rant and lies. Seriously, you should get help. You have your god Obama in the White House and total control of government and all you show is vicious hate for the opposition. You have to realize we're not all going to kiss Obama's ass like you do!
Are you for real? Because I wouldn't believe ANYTHING from Fox News. Hell, CNN for that matter. Not everything on MSNBC is to be believed either. So, how in the world can you believe some made up crap by to undercover partisan hacks pretending to be objective reporters? Is it because Glenn told you that it was true? So, then it must be true?
Did you get dropped on your head a lot as a child? Why would I push the republican's agenda when number one they have no plan.. and number 2 I don't agree with them or their tactics? I have seen the ACORN videos.. unlike you I actually do watch things from both sides even if I do not agree with them. I will do you a favor though and post the Republican agenda... Look for it in the side bar of my profile.
Did you bother to actually watch this video? How can you support these idiots? Seriously i would like to know.. Last night you said you could not think of anything they do that you are not proud of,,, are you proud of the things in this video? Are these the kind of folks you think you can trust?
I didn't watch the video because I know it's probably just more liberal B.S. propaganda, and it will just make me mad if I listen to more liberal lies. Anyway, I just got a message from SaveRepublic so I have to go help him out.
Actually it's not... everything that is said in this video is in fact true and can be verified. Most of it is even common knowledge. It would really do you some good to expand your horizons some. Your friend Jeremy is willing to expand his.. why limit yourself by ignoring the truth? All you are doing is keeping yourself in the dark.. such a shame. I actually watch a variety of videos.. I may not save them all in my favs but I am atleast open to seeing opposing views.
Thanks for sending me the video. He is absolutely right. The right has got pretty extreme. However, there isn't much of a difference between what the right is doing now and what the left did for the past 8 years. It's pretty bad when I'm being labeled a racist and a terrorist simply for disagreeing with the current administration. I see what this young man is saying too though.
Many of us Christians believe that people are basically evil with a proclivity for good. The opposite view is that people are basically good with a proclivity for evil.

But when an adult behaves that way, the kids can't handle it!

Very interesting, but I don't think it's entirely accurate to paint the Republican party as Christian extremists. If anything, they are rabid Randians who are prepared to sacrifice their religious beliefs in exchange for political benefits. The religion is just a front. Their true ideology is the cult of individualism and social darwinism.

@renumeratedfrog I agree somewhat. I think a better analogy is from Mark 3 where Jesus was angered by the Herodians and the Pharisees. The NEOCONS are Herodians dedicated to large corporations and the Pharisees are the self-righteous conservative religious. I do not like Blumenthals style of sarcasm and hyperbole but his research is solid and thorough.
I also agree with your staatement that they are social darwinism and I might add eugenics.

Maybe he should study this movement a little more.
iSAW7 2 years ago
Mark Sanford's disappearance was exceptionally strange and bizarre considering he said he was hiking and his excuse was that he was weak (needed god's guidance). Also, conflating Hitler and Stalin as two examples of socialism is like me saying that George W. and Ahmadinijiad are poster boys for free elections. Were they not both leaders of self-proclaimed democratic governments? For someone who goes on Youtube alot he doesnt seem to understand history. Maybe you should go read a WWII book?
TankYouVeryMuch 2 years ago 2
So Mark Sanford lying about his whereabouts is exceptionally strange and bizarre? There are many examples of strange and bizarre going-ons in the world, Mark Sanford cheating on his wife doesn't seem to me to be one of those. But, perhaps some of us have lived more sheltered lives than others. While I would agree with you GWB could be considered a strong proponent of democracy albeit naive in my opinion, Ahmadinejad's Iran has some work to do on that end. According to the recent news anyways.
iSAW7 2 years ago
Ahmadinejad needs to do some work on democracy in Iran? The "work" on Iran's democracy was done 56 years ago when the U.S. - via the CIA - deposed the elected Prime Minister Mossadeq to install the brutal, repressive Shah. Twenty-five years later Iran revolted against the Shah. The CIA's actions were referred to as Operation Ajax. This is not a matter of conjecture. Thanks to the FOIA, the documentation is now public. Read 'All the Shah's Men' by Stephen Kinzer, or any other book on the topic.
bapyou 2 years ago
You are merely repeating the same history anyone that watches the news for 2 minutes already knows. We started out talking about how Stalin and Hitlers governments had similarities like over-reaching government control, which is what conservatives in this country have traditionally rallied against. It seems to me Max Blumenthal has no understanding of American politics if he can not grasp this common political comparison. So why is he writing a book about conservatives if he doesn't get it? SME?
iSAW7 2 years ago
Conservatives rail against government because they want to privatize government functions: A program underway since the senile Ronald Reagan was in office. All of which amounts to theft of the American taxpayer. I have no problem with government as long as you get something for your tax dollars. With conservative Republicans what you get is the over-inflated costs of privatization & the steady disintegration of services such as public schooling. And the out-of-control costs of health care.
bapyou 2 years ago
Well what government functions are they trying to privatize exactly? Health care has long been a function of the private sector that the government has attempted to acquire. The government forces car insurance on us and those costs are still out of control especially if you are under 25. Around 30% of the population already receives a form of government health care and the costs are still going out of control for those programs, so much so that the government is demanding more money for them.
iSAW7 2 years ago
The details on privatization can be found in Thomas Frank's 'The Wrecking Crew: How Conservatives Rule.'
Going back to Reagan's 1984 Grace Commission (staffed with 160 corporate executives and 1 represntative of labor) the underlying theory of privatization schemes has been that they are "more efficient." To date, not a single study has been undertaken to find out if such a claim is actually true. Government answers to the people. Privatization schemes answer to small cliques of owners.
bapyou 2 years ago
What government functions exactly?
Examples: Private corporations collect our taxes & work in the Budget Office (NYT 4 Feb 2007). And how about those no-bid contracts for Katrina recovery or Iraq? The DoD and Homeland Security regularly accept contracts that COST taxpayers far more than if a government agency had undertaken the same tasks. In 2006 the General Services Adminstration actually tried to outsource the job of supervising private contractors!
bapyou 2 years ago
The Bush 2 admninstration boasted that, during GWB's terms in office, they had decreased the number of civil servants to the lowest levels since 1950, despite that Bush presided over one of the greatest expansions of spending in US history.
Conservatives in government prove that "goverment is the problem" (Reagan's axiom) by placing the least competent persons in government positions. In addition, most private contract workers doing the same jobs as civil servants are paid 2-3X more.
bapyou 2 years ago
More specifics:

looks like a great read, i would have to agree with his assessment. another great book that touches on this subject is "grand new party" which was written by 2 rightwingers who basically say the same thing. that the dominence of the radical religious right is forcing the moderate intellectual conservatives out of the party.
look up "christian exodus" for a frightening example of what these individuals want. cont.-
TheEvolver311 2 years ago
cont-
christian exodus is a group based in south carolina who desire to have as many conservative christians move to SC in order to dominate state politics and secede from the union in order to create a theocratic state nation. the constitution party has a similar desire to rework the US into a theocratic nation, Sara Palins husband was the head of the alaska constitution party and only joined the GOP after his wife was given the VP offer.
TheEvolver311 2 years ago
I think the plan is to have wack job "Christian Leaders" create enough scandal to discredit Jesus, when clearly none of them are actually doing as God commanded. So we get an evil right wing and an evil left wing so our only hope is to look for help from outside our constitutional system. God said that there would be a falling away coupled with a type of faith but lacking the true power behind it. The One world government is comming very fast now.

Maybe he should study this movement a little more.
iSAW7 2 years ago
In 2000, FEMA was a well-run federal agency whose members reported high morale and job satisfaction. After 2000, GWB appointed right-wing Texan Joe Allbaugh ,a man with zero experience in disaster management. Allbaugh filled FEMA posts with political appointees & pals such as Michael "Heckuva job Brownie" Brown, to whom Allbaugh ceded FEMA's reigns in 2002. FEMA then became part of DHS & outsourcing increased exponentially. The morale of career FEMA people hit an all-time low.
bapyou 2 years ago
The upshot was a disaster, both during and after Katrina. Example: Whereas previous post-disaster rebuilding enlisted local workers, GWB's version of FEMA awarded no-bid reconstruction contracts to engineering conglomerate CH2M Hill, the Fluor Corp, the Shaw Group (client of Joe Allbaugh) and Bechtel, infamous military contractor & employer of retired right-wing politicians.
In Oct 2005: These & others gather in Washington to chortle over the $1 billion in contracts handed out.
bapyou 2 years ago
So I ask you: If you've read through these posts, by privatizing the function of a government agency such as FEMA, what exactly have the American people gained? And what, exactly, have the American people saved with respect to expenditures?
Asnwers: They've gained nothing and paid more to greedy sons-of-bitches who should be put down (preferrably with an economically-sound method such as stoning) like the rabid thieving dogs that they are.
I rest my case.
bapyou 2 years ago
FEMA has been around since 1979 and is still a worthless government bureaucracy as Katrina illustrated. No bid contracts are as capitalist as Stalin and Hitler. No bid contracts are socialism. It is the government deciding who does what with no competition. Now I don'y know why you believe GWB is the epitome of capitalism and free market, but according to you Max Blumenthal is a journalist. Both parties are big government parties the sooner you realize that, the better.
iSAW7 2 years ago
"FEMA ... is ... a worthless government bureaucracy as Katrina illustrated"
If you consider that FEMA in 2005 - staffed as it was with unqualified incompetent political appointees whose task it was - as part of a conservative agenda - to demonstrate that governmernt is the problem (i,e, dysfucntional) succeeded in doing what it set out to do: Prove their own incompetency while stuffing as many public dollars as they can into private bank accounts.
bapyou 2 years ago
At least you own to no-bid contracts being far from the "free market" conservatives claim they worship.
Furthermore, in your blanket criticism of FEMA, you completly ignore disasters such as Hurricane Andrew & the Loma Preita & Northridge earthquakes after which FEMA functioned in an exemplary fashion. Why? Because the people who worked for FEMA aduring those times actually did their jobs, as opposed to the Bush admin's cronies handing out gov. cash to the highest bidder.
bapyou 2 years ago
And you don't believe that George Bush is the epitome of capitalism? I thought that's what all good little Republicans screamed every day of their miserable little lives?
Have you read Max Blumenthal's book? Until you do, you really have no room to talk about his supposed worth (or lack thereof) as a journalist.
Meanwhile, stick to reading the latest missive from Glenn Beck. That's probably more your intellectual level. Now THERE'S an unbiased "journalist", I'll tell you what! (snicker)

WittTristan 2 years ago
I don't call it journalism, but yea it is the same. I don't watch Glenn Beck or Max Blumenthal, so i'm definitely not a subject matter expect; therefore I will not be writing a book about it as Max Blumenthal has done with about the same knowledge of the right-wing in America. But, from what I have seen neither of them are very thoughtful. They are party loyalists. They attack the opposing side for pay and offer no valid argument or thought other than what they have been handed down by the party
iSAW7 2 years ago
You don't watch Max Blumenthal? Then what are you doing posting on one of his videos? Do you always click on videos and start typing random shit about which you don't have a clue?
How do you know what Max is about if you (a) don't watch his videos and (b) haven't read his book?
How you comment, obviously, is based on pre-judged opinions of someone or something, i.e. you're a rigid idealogue with limited critical faculties. You're losing credibility, Ignatz. Losing credibility.

Besides the GOP and GOP Leader websites, you can check Rep. Paul Ryan's website for his health care reform proposal. There is a video of him outlining his proposal at the top of my favorites' list.
