The point of this is not necessarily to say that students can make a difference in the vote, but to exercise our right to democracy. Look at all the people around the world right now who are dying to get a change to vote. We should be proud of the fact that we can help to choose our leaders, and that our leaders listen to the nation's needs. Also, it's in an effort to get politicians to finally pay us some attention, and not just our parents.
Check out the "puppet vote mob" @ youtube.com/watch?v=wqNpW5oRjUQ or learn more about our flash mobs at air-medics.ca/blog/ or Air Advocates facebook group
We are organizing flash mobs too. To bring attention to a much need topic like the environment. When are politicians going to discuss current events?
Actually? "they'll probably vote bloc"? Because we're in montreal? Along with the belief that because we're students, all we know is pot so we're going to vote Green? Please educate yourself on the youth vote before you go shooting off unfounded assumptions that makes you sound like a complete idiot. Students care about jobs, the environment, high speed rail and health care to name a few. I was in this mob to prove that students actually care about our future. And there was 200 of us, not 50.
@divineapathy : they say in politics that one letter represents 1000 constituents. So, you follow that principle here, 50 students represent 50,000 voters. Woo hoo!!
It would be amazing if all 3 million students voted. I wonder how that would change the election results? Oh by the way not everyone if Quebec votes Bloc. McGill is in Montreal ( the coolest city ever!) most Montrealers vote Liberal.
yeah they should vote liberal or conservative like all the other dumbfucks. Liberals steal your money, and Conservatives just spend it on pointless shit. Hmmm. Tough choice. Or we have the socialist Jack Layton who seems to think we just have an endless supply of money that he can use to develop these new ideas he has.
If I were to vote (which I'm proud to say I will NOT be) I would vote Green Party because they seem the least corrupt.
@Liquefier999 And you have made your own arguments without valid premises. What are the things that make you think students are a) going to vote for the Green Party and b) they are living in a world of pot?
Would your right-wing ideology be the cause of all this? Dommage. You might expose your little frustrations about the students and their political views, but they're still going to vote and change something. For good.
I find it quite a media circus with the promotion of youth voting in Canada and the assumption that ALL young adults will vote for the Liberals LOL.
No, there is just as sizable a demographic of University students who will vote for a Conservative government. In combination with the rest of the country's votes, it looks like we'll almost certainly be having another conservative minority, just with less money thanks to this "coalition" that never fucking happened. Pathetic.
Fuck voting, 1) it takes 20 minutes out of my life 2) what is one fucking vote gonna do when it is weighed against 30 million people. dumb asses need to learn some logic
@WaitingForYukiOnna yah, good thing 40 million people don't think the same way or else my logic wouldnt work now would it? But that isnt the case is it?
@uni4life1619 what a desperate attempt to save face in something you know is obviously wrong. =D btw voter turn out rate is 60% rounded up, and just in case i have to spell it out for you. They didn't all vote for the same party.
@uni4life1619 And what would you do in those 20 minutes? Post fucking useless comments on youtube? Get a life dude. Your comments are useless, and so are you.
Your plan sounds great. Let the man sh*t all over you. I maybe one person, but when you can get organized and get thousands of people together, change is inevitable.
@uni4life1619 Duh, your vote at least gives the party you vote for $2, that's better than politics being funded by corporations. GET OFF YOUR BUTTS! GET OFF THE COUCH! The challenging times we live in require strong government action, or millions of BP disasters. IT'S TIME! Vote!
aww look at all those yuppies, cut from a different softer stock even tho the valid gene pool of hardened people existed prior. isnt it special these people will start as a liberal or whoever is facilitating the tuition cuts and later in life after joining the corporate mob vote strictly conservative to protect and horde their wealth. so touching, great video, heres hoping you face multiple adversities in your life that the unprivledged/non-charmed endure daily.
I would vote, but not a single representative cares for liberty, individual freedom, and economic liberty. It's four semi authoritarians basing their campaign on irrational ad hominems and policies which appeal to the public by ad misericordiam. I was going in with an open mind, considering moderating my views and voting pragmatically, but really, I can't bring myself to do it ethically. To be honest I'm not feeling great about being Canadian right now
why bother? they're all corrupt fucks, who cares what puppet gets placed in office? I don't. Fuck Harper, Fuck Ignatieff, Fuck Layton, if anything I'd vote the green party because they seem to be the least corrupt. But they'll never win, so I mineswell throw my ticket in the garbage.
@DoubleX31 I think that's untrue. Youth don't vote, for the most part, because they have ideals, values, principles, and believe that "political freedom" goes further than putting an x in a little box once every four years. Perhaps if the candidates differed in the least bit in terms of their policies, not just in rhetoric, people would indeed go and vote. Really I don't see much true difference between this system and that of a liberal autocracy. In other words, i'm not free.
Good for you guys-- I hope you can encourage all your classmates to vote. I'm 43 and I've never not voted-- it stuns me when I hear people don't vote.
I hope they vote for the economy. They will soon join the work force I would like to see jobs there for them. Voting is not a lark or the fad of the day, all Canadians have to live with the results. Will they vote whatever the professor tells them to vote.
I'm a retired federal public servant who's parents emigrated from a communist country so I was lucky enough to be born in Canada.
I am so impressed with these wonderful university students... voting is something we SHOULD celebrate and never take for granted. (Look what a force a group of you are!)
@weareshameless1 I hope you don't mean the Liberals, the people that have been in power much longer, and lying and fucking up more than ever for decades?
@weareshameless1 Just because all these morons in the video are "too young" to remember, doesn't mean we can all be swayed by the Liberals ridculous campaign.

Vote "Mob"? There was only like 50 students in this video! Unfortunately I think the small turnout for this video only proves Rick Mercer right...
