Like you said this technique been used by Ostad Tehrani and Esmaeili, but as I remember I have seen many tombak players use this technique the way you play it. My teacher, Navid Afghah, used this technique like 8 or 9 years ago( I don't know if he learned it from someone or he created himself. Anyway its a hard one and you play it very well.
the technique is basically the finger snap technique but covered because each finger covers the skin for the next one. ostad tehrani only played the 4th finger snap like that, what he did was to use the 3rd finger to give a piggy back to the 4th one intead of using the thumb. he used 2nd,3rd(with use of thumb) and the 4rth finger without the use of thumb to play eshareh) the small finger technique is used in dayereh by ostad farnam.
playing them all as a rudiment is done by my teacher.
May I ask why you categorize that technique as new? Because it most certainly is not new... what is so different about this technique than the old one that has been played to date by all the Maestros in Iran and outside of Iran?
can you give an explanation on how to do it
