These books inspired later archery treatises such as "Kitab fi bayau fadl al-qaws w-al-sahm wa-awsufihima" and "Kitab ghunyat at-tullab fi marifat ramy an-mushshab". These are all very interesting historical books.
Kipchaqs were fearless warriors. The reason why medieval Arabs employed them as soldiers and generals was, that these people were familar with Mongol war tactics using the composite bow (which was previously shunned by Arabs as an evil Persian/Saka invention). The Mamluk Kipchaqs wrote many powerfull books on archery such as Munyatu'l-ghuzat and Kitab fi ‘Ilm an Nushshab and the reflexed horn bow was quickly adopted by Arabs and also in Mamluk India. Kipchaqs were also considered beautiful.
the memluk " kipchack turks " were excellent leaders and showed respect for everyone , but then when the " circassian memluks overthrew them " egypt was shit , they killed anyone who is non-circassians and caused trouble and civil wars broke out and the country became weaker
True, they were getting sold to all corners of the Middle East. My country on the map is this really big one over in the Western Hemisphere. You might know it, its called the United States of America. Since you asked and all.
Mamluks were recruited from a number of ethnicities and races. They had Turks, Mongols, Armenians, Georgians, Circassians, Greeks, Russians, etc. They were mostly Caucasian because the Mamluks themselves believed that native Egyptians did not make good soldiers.
The lingua franca of the Mamluk sultanate during both the Bahri and Burgi(Circassian) periods was Qipchaq, a Turkic language. Turkic mamluks hailed from the Qipchaq Steppe. the house-language of the Mamluk military corps, and its court, were Qipchaq Turkish. It is for this reason that the Arabophone natives of the Sultanate in Egypt and Greater Syria referred to the Mamluks as Dawlat al-Atrak, the regime of the Turks. If most of the army were egyptians, why they didn't speak in egyptian?
Yet again them attacks were carried out by a few Islamics extremeists. How many innocents has the U.S killed in Iraq ? Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11.
True, the Mamlukes are forgotten by Europe despite their awesome prowess and track record against the crusaders and even the "unstoppable" mongols. This was after their greatest general had passed on.
Agreed, although the Mongol was only at half its original size because after the death of the Mongol leader there was a a claim to power to the Mongol leadership and the general in charge of that Mongol army halved his army and charged back to Mogolia and China to stake his claim to power, leaving his under strengthed army to fight the Mamlukes, which was wiped out.
there was 4 battles, first ayn jalut, were mongols lost, then they came back, in the battle of homs 1, they lost, then again battle of homs 2, they lost, then again battle of homs 3 where they lost again completely! Not because they were egyption, turkish, or whatever nationality, they were Muslims! They were the ones who stopped this empire from taking over the world, now they are stopping another evil force, new world order from taking over the world!

I will speak here about facts and information which are trust worthy...I read so much about Sultab Baybars...and I will speak only aboyt the info i'm sure about:
1) his origin was from Kazakhistan...that's his ethnicity...but I'm not sure of his tongue...but I'm sure that he knew Arabic at least as a 2nd language.
2) The embassador of Kazakhistan in Cairo/Egypt celebrate annually the memorial of Baybras in his mosque named after him in an area in Cairo called (Dahir)which is the royal title.

His ethnicity wasn't kazak, he was kypchak, but kazaks are direct descendants of kypchak turks, people mustn't call him kazak whatever you call the residents of Kazakstan, many todays kypchak people have a right to claim him, because all of us once were one nation calling ourselves as "kipchak/qypshaq/polovtsy/cuman", just check out the wiki any of the words I've typed and you'll understand what I meant...a kypchak from steppes of Desht-i Qipchaq that's who the Baybars was.
I'm afraid you have more information about this Sultan than me...that's why I would like to speak with you about this...I have loads of papers about him...and I really would like to exchange information about him.
So...he is not from Kazakhistan?? then why do the embassador of Kazakhistan celebrate his memorial??do you think it is some sort of steeling the man's glory for them??
Oh no no, I didn't claim that he wasn't from Kazakstan, in my opinion 75% he was from Kazakstan, but can't claim that for sure, some people say he was from pre-caspian steppes some say he was from shores of Azov Sea, others calim he was from steppes of Northern Caucasus but for me it doesn't matter at all, because as I've said before all these places once were one country (Dasht-i Kypchak) inhabitated by one united turkic people calling themselves kypchaks
Kazaks wouldn't be offended if for example noghays or tatars would show some respect to his person, because their of the same blood with him, as for me kazaks just are the 1-st people showing so much love to Baybars on such a level that it spreads to media sources and may seem as some kind of a PR, but it ain't like that, steppe folks have leaved very few traces of it's glory and Baybars was a brilliant example, it would be disrespectful to forget him
Read my comment again. I said there IS a Georgian movie called "Mamluk". I DIDN'T say THIS ONE is a georgian movie. And the Georgian movie that I was talking about is about a georgian, who was sold in Turkey and from there in Egypt, where he became the head of other mamluks. But it's just a movie, so i recommend to see it.
All Mamluks(slave warriors) in islamic history are mostly Turkish. Ayyoubid mamlukes were all Turkish. After mamlukes have captured the throne they started to muster circassian slaves "beside" Turkic slaves.
And after a time circassian mamlukes have taken the power from turkic memlukes.
But Baybars was a Kipchak Turk.
So popular circassian myth that Baybars was a georgian is not true. But there are many circassian mamluk sultans.
But all mamlukes have spoken Turkish. Even the circassians.
Firstly,he bought himself from his owner. Then he applied to army, then he became head of 10then 100 and so on.Then he had his own army. Then he became Sultan Beibarys!I am proud that I am KIPCHAK!Inside the kipchaks I am SANAI.
Kipchaks and russians where facing mongol army on river called KALKA,allies where defeated.Beibarys took part in this fight.River Kalka is near BlackSea.Boats of merchants who were waiting for new slaves from this battle bought Beibarys from mongols.Beibarys was 18 years old.Merchants sold him in Egypt.THen Beibarys started his hard way to the top of authority.
What are you even talking about, guys!! Beibarys was Kipchak of Kazakh!! I am Kipchak and the real Kazakhs are Kipchaks, which means Beibaris was Kazakh! If you wanna know about Beibaris, you've better come to Kazakhstan, we have National Museum of Kazakhstan, there you can see all of our grand grand grand fathers!!!
egypt was and is not and never will be black pre islam they were dark skin caucasoids like phoenician but darker nubians were black which the egyptians defeated many times
Asian looking dude is not a mongol, he is a kipchak. Baibars was from the place what is called Deshti-Kypchak, he was kipchak. Remember the Bahri Dynasty of Mameluks were asian looking kypchak-turks mostly, Burdji Dynasty were from Caucasusians. Baibars was a Bahri Mameluk, he was kypchak and asian looking by arabian ancient writings. And this is bahris who've defeated the mongols at Ayn-Jaloot.
Kipchaks were f..ng slaves to Mongols, however, Kichacks themselvesa were mix of Mongol and Turkig people! Basically kipchacks were run away tribes of Mongols and they tried to oppose to Mongols and therefore their brothers sold them as slaves. kazakhs were low class tribes within Mongolian confederation! Not really called kiptchacks!
hahah idiot kyp4aks not mixing peoples! they were oguz for B.C. 300 ! after that some oguz tribes going to south (middle asia ) and (huns) kicked otcharians ! kypcaks were north oguz(ogurs)!
ridvanco you always screw up things in a wrong direction, kypchak turks stand apart from oghuz turks, kypchaks never were oghuz remember that, today there is no clear kypchak people as they were existent in 12th AD, now most kypchak dialect speaking people are of mixed origin - (kypchak + oghuz + others) predominantly with kypchak heritage, kazaks for example have some oghuz blood too despite they are distingueshed as pure kypchak turks.
There is no proof that Baibars was blond as europeans with blue eyes as some fools try to commit, he was Kypchak and kypchaks always looked the same. Kypchaks are turks and they are mostly mongholoid looking. Know that "mongols" of the 13th century were mostly turks. Even Prophet Muhammad(peace upon Him) told hadis about them, it is obvious that majority of those mongols were turks, for example "Nayman" Ketbuga whom "Kypchak" Baybars would defeat on battle of Ain Jalut.
DEBASHIR BLACK SLAVES WERE TREATED WORSE THAN MAMLUKS. THEY WERE A MERE PROPERTY THAN WARRIORS. EXPLAIN THIS: Mohammed is quoted as saying that Blacks are, "pug-nosed slaves". (Sahih Moslem vol. 9 pages 46 and 47).
Hadith; vol.9:162,163: Muhammad warned that dreams of black women meant disease was forthcoming.
I am a great admirer of Baybars, but something that has always bothered me is the stories of how he used to butcher civilians of crusader cities he took. From your historical knowledge, do you think that was trueor simply lies put by envious europeans.
Its mostly correct. Most of the times, the crusader civilians were killed. There were times when he spared them though.
The sultans after Baybars also destroyed coastal crusader cities, rock by rock. But you have to understand why. Strategy, politics, and most importantly FEAR played a great role. Baybars saw the dangerous Mongols from the east, and he understood how the coastal cities were a foothold to the crusaders, and whenever they are gona launch a crusade, they vitally needed the coast
I understand the strategic importance of holding the coast my friend. But the problem is, as Muslims, we are instructed by Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) himself, that when we take a city, we should not kill any civilians, and to only kill those who fought us. Saladin abided by that when he took Jerusalem, and as much as I like and respect Baybars, it bothers me to see a Muslim leader act the way the crusaders did. I guess you can call me idealistic.
They were never black. Dark skinned for sure, during pharao times, but not black.
I'm doubting, however, that Baybars or the Mamluks were, ethnically speaking, like the characters portrayed on the film. Weren't they of turkic origins?
These books inspired later archery treatises such as "Kitab fi bayau fadl al-qaws w-al-sahm wa-awsufihima" and "Kitab ghunyat at-tullab fi marifat ramy an-mushshab". These are all very interesting historical books.

hahah idiot kyp4aks not mixing peoples! they were oguz for B.C. 300 ! after that some oguz tribes going to south (middle asia ) and (huns) kicked otcharians ! kypcaks were north oguz(ogurs)!

ridvanco you always screw up things in a wrong direction, kypchak turks stand apart from oghuz turks, kypchaks never were oghuz remember that, today there is no clear kypchak people as they were existent in 12th AD, now most kypchak dialect speaking people are of mixed origin - (kypchak + oghuz + others) predominantly with kypchak heritage, kazaks for example have some oghuz blood too despite they are distingueshed as pure kypchak turks.

From your historical knowledge, do you think that was trueor simply lies put by envious europeans.
amadeus987 3 years ago

I understand you totally man. Only if we can go back in time and ask why!

They were never black. Dark skinned for sure, during pharao times, but not black.
I'm doubting, however, that Baybars or the Mamluks were, ethnically speaking, like the characters portrayed on the film. Weren't they of turkic origins?
Sorry for my english.
