12- sexual intercourse. normal(sex is a right to both man and wife). mot'aa(its allowed to state in their contract that NO full sexual consumation)
..and so on.. I think the differences are too vast and numerous to deny between mot'aa and a normal marriage. Even Shia themselves differentiate between the 2
6- polygamy limit. normal(can't exceed 4 wives at once). mot'aa (no limit)
7- divorce. normal(only ends with a divorce). mot'aa(ends automatically when period ends)
8- Iddah. normal(3 months and man must spend on wife until end of Iddah after divorce). mot'aah(woman has no right after period ends, and Iddah times shia specify as 2 months or 45 days and in practice not followed at all)
9- pagan wives. normal(not allowed unless muslim woman or christian or jewish), mot'aah(no limitation)
Let me also point out that even among shia, they themselves differentiate between a normal marriage and a mot'aa/seegha marriage. in their own laws the two types have different rights.
Ask any shia scholar this: if a man marries a woman by mot'aa, then suddenly dies before the agreed period is done, does the woman get full inheritance rights like a normal wife?
ok let me clarify then. you said "the same rules apply". The mistake here is that in sunni marriage it's not allowed to agree on a period and put it in the marriage certificate, nor is it allowed to agree on it verbally prior to the marriage.
This does not mean that divorce is a sin. Not at all. and I'm not trying to imply that. Divorce is definitely is not desirable. but not a sin. it's fully permissible. but it also should not be decided before marriage either.

Nahid porson has got a bias and wants to show bad things about Iran. Prostitution is everywhere from London to Paris to Amsterdam and everywhere there is the same story "Poverty". Then what the fxxk it can have with the veil! if you hate the veil then make a movie about that and its reasons and history.
@afglionheart the fact that u re muslim and you say this is not islam doesnt prove anything. Learn how to create an argument first before making one. These are islamic laws whether YOU believe in them or not. That's a fact
@arigold42 LOOK WHO IS TALKING THE PERSIAN RAT watch the clip carefully here is the evidence can't be denied I know its hard to accept but this is the true ....... last week I watched the game between Iran and South Korea they stuffed their big cocks up your mum its natural because Iran can't play they play like girls HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
This is really a stupid documentary. It's a propaganda against the Iranian regime. Clients put on camera! A religious chief police recites Qur'an before committing adultery! What the hell is this crap? If you want to fabricate events, please do it good, assholes.
Temporary marriage (mot'aa) is part of the shia version of Islam. where the period of the marriage ,and payment are agreed. and usually not celebrated or publicized to family.
in sunni view it is equivalent to prostitution and is a major sinful act. adultery or fornication in short.
even among the majority of shia people I know this type of marriage (they call it seegha) is extremely looked down upon as lowly.
Yet it is an integral part of the shia creed unfortunately
@mishari26 Many shias carry out seegha/mot'aa the wrong way. There are many rules that they have to follow and they disregard. Unfortunately this is what led sunnis to perceive it as sinful. My sunni friends approached me to ask me about mot'aa and after discussing it we realized that mot'aa is almost exactly like misyar marriage, which is a part of the sunni "version" of Islam. This documentary is a perfect example of how Islam is misinterpreted. Ppl are using the Qur'an to justify their sins.
@ZumbaJambini hi, thanks for the comment :) I just want to clarify that marriage in Islam is meant to secure the future of any children that may result from it. This is the reason that temporary marriage "mot'aa/seegha" is considered not a valid marriage under sunni law.
in marriage an essential element of the marriage is the "dowry". which has to be paid by the man to the woman. This dowry in seegha is directly related to the agreed period. smaller period, smaller payment.clearly prostitution
@mishari26 Mot'aa is exactly like permanent marriage except that the period of marriage is agreed upon prior to the marriage. This means that just like a permanent marriage the woman is entitled to a dowry not based on the period of time like you said. The dowry does not have to be money but anything of value. Also, when the period of marriage ends the woman has to go through the Iddah and if a child results from the marriage he/she have the same rights as a child from a regular marriage.
@mishari26 when I said "exactly like" I didn't mean it in the literal sense. I meant that the same rules apply. The happiness of the child is based on how the parents handle the situation not on what type of marriage. After the contract period is over the parents have the option of remarrying (Temporary/Permanent). You also have to keep in mind that this type of marriage is permissible but not necessarily encouraged.
@ZumbaJambini and do you think that the rights of a child are simply financial? what about a mother and a father who live with him in the same house til adulthood, and then support each other in old age?
By saying this you are implying that divorce should be a sin as well. What if the parents of a child got divorced prior to his birth. Does that make him a sad child. Or what about children who's father's have married more than one woman. The emotional state of the child depends on how the parents handle it.
this happen in iran coz it has a different view for islam, which make it different from other islamic countries .their view is mix of zaradisht, old persian ,Islamic religions?
their religious leaders encourage prostitution but with a religious coverage?
This is just bullcrap! I know a lot of people from Iran and they are not like that. This is a movie about drugs users, it has nothing the do with prostitution behind the veil.
10- adulterous woman. normal(not allowed to marry a prostitute). mot'aa(allowed)
11- checking marital status. normal(MUST check if she's single). mot'aa(shia don't require checking)

I'll list some differences between a normal marriage and a mot'aa marriage:
1- inheritance. normal(Yes), mot'aa(No)
2- guardian. normal(yes the woman can not give herself away, her guardian must), mot'aa(no need)
3- period. normal(Not specified, intention is permanence), mot'aa(MUST be specified)
4- witnesses/publicity. normal(MUST be public or 2 witnesses), mot'aa (not required)
5- providence. normal(husband MUST provide shelter/food unless wife declines), mot'aa (wife must ask before)
cont.

don't you think this is a contradiction in terms?
permanent means intended with no end. til "death do us part" so to speak :) no?
Main point is, any child that results from a Mot'aa.. is a sad child indeed don't you think?
Don't you think a child is entitled to parents who "try their best" to stay together and work problems out til they grow old?
