  • hey another question....the lemon juice squeeze bottle which you used is that the store bought one or you made it at home? if we wanna to store lemon juice in our fridge then for how many days it will last?

  • @mariacuto : We sometimes buy a lot of lemons (on sale) and squeeze them and them in ice cubes if we know we will not be using it all right away. We put it in the bottle as we were on a cooking frenzy at that time - hence just easier.

  • You girls are amazing! Do you think i can make the soup using cilantro instead the mushrooms? I just love the fresh cilandro but i have no idea how to use it as main ingredient (besides mex salsa or salads)

  • @crownlesskingofpain : Cilantro has a very mild flavor - either you will need to use a LOT or use some additional ingredient to help flavor the soup. Having said that we have never tried it personally and you never know, you might be onto something :)

  • I would garnish it with a few very thin pieces of Mushroom. Maybe grilled(with pepper and salt).

    I will def. try that after my mothers mushroomsoup is something that really stands and falls with personal taste.

  • a good tip to enrichen this is to add a few dried porchini

  • it looks gud.if i don't find veggie broth here so how can i make it at home,secondly can i use cabbage,carrots or potatoes instead of the veggies u mention

  • @mariacuto : We have a recipe and a video for Vegetable stock on our website. You can use assorted vegetables, like we mention in the video, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and you can use carrots and potatoes as well. Cabbage, I am not too sure of though...never tried it.

  • If you add lemon juice at the same time you add mushrooms you avoid mushrooms get brown :))

  • @Evanescende You want them to get brown though, makes for better flavor. But like they said before, mushrooms are like sponges and that lemon juice will just get sucked up and you might end up adding more lemon juice than necessary. Since the mushrooms give off their own water, the lemon juice will leach out also and practically boil away, so I think they have it right. :)

  • Hi ladies !

    If I want to use brussel sprouts instead of mushrooms, do i cut them into halves or chop them (or puree them ) and fry them in the beginning? (just wanted to know cos brussel sprouts, like cabbage, gets separated into layers easily)

  • @luvurself9 I say cut them in quarters or halves. They will separate though lol, can't be helped. I would do the exact same steps as they did. You will get a lot of caramelization out of brussel sprouts which will make for great flavor later on. The brussel sprouts will be very tender by the time your soup is done, so they would make for a great pureed soup. Finish it off with some heavy cream and that will make it all the more luxurious!
