This game was indeed pretty cool, I think it's safe to say when most people think of Maniac Mansion, they think of this music most.

I also played the DOS series of "Hugo" games which share some similarities, so I actually enjoy point and click games like this.

Also...does anybody know who the giant head is in the background? Does look like a member of the "Ed" family as they all wear glasses

I always thought of it as:

1. NES

2. MMDX

3. PC

4. C64

5. FC

The NES version was probably the best due to the music and crisp graphics.

The PC version was second best, mostly due to the graphics. The Deluxe version was a little better, simply because there was music.

The C64 version had little to speak of, but it's still a classic.

The FC version was the worst, because of no music, lack-luster graphics, and an excessively difficult password system.

Funny that you should mention the FC version. It does have music in some fashion, at the *least* there is a sound test with a handful of tracks and jingles. I only took a quick glance at the game though... If there's in-game music I didn't see any of it either! Maybe it's only incidental. Either way the music is pretty unremarkable. I only focus on uploading complete soundtracks here, but for that title I may make an exception. There is nothing interesting asides from a remix of the main theme.

So search for "Maniac Mansion Japan NES", or something like it, and you'll probably find something.
