You know what I love was always the fact that the only thing didnt stop him from, pardon my french, banging the ever loving crap out of her, at that point was the fact that there was something just more important to take are of first. What a gal! : )
This music really works!...what a great fight exciting and funny at the same time...hard to believe that Victor McLaglen was 66 years old by this stage and in such poor health that he could only work a few hours each day....some people think he was Irish but he was the son of an English preacher and he was a genuine tough guy who once went the distance with the world heavyweight champ and managed to stay on his feet!!
@Warionstar@Warionstar could it be that the song is 'I NEED A HERO' and Maureen O'hara's character had wanted John Waynes character Shaun Thornton to stand up to her brother and fight for her and this is the point in the film where he does. It obviousy went over the top of your head mate. I SUGGEST YOU ACTUALLY LISTEN TO THE WORDS.
I do't care whether the actual words match what happened in the movie, but this song is FAR SUPERIOR to the inappropriate Johnny Cash song that is the background to a "tribute video" for Duke that is on utube!!!!!
Was weaned on John Wayn Movies - saw this hundreds of times - We should not condone violence - but didnt you just want John Wayne to kick his Arse Ha Ha. And the look on Maureen O'Hara's face - big thrill having two men fight over you lol
Maureen O Hara got a broken wrist in one of the dragging scenes.

This was a good movie - it was amazing how everyone underestimated the "quiet" man.

one of the best movies of all time....should have been an Oscar for either John Wayne or Maureen O'Hara. Nothing like it today.

It's a shame more arguments weren't settled the old fashioned way, rather than using guns and knives.
