Yeah, the Veyron's engine is indeed unique and powerful, but in terms of cost-effectiveness and simplicity, I think YOU'RE missing the point. Talking about V8 engines, did you know that some European cars (Aston Martin, Jaguar) use modified Ford V8s because it is cost effective(buying US cars?). It's what makes more sense when it comes to building real supercars that matter. Oh yeah, stop being a sore loser about the Veyron being beaten by 2mph.

And it was only 2 seconds faster than the Ford GT, Mosler MT900s Photon, and 2.9 seconds faster than the Corvette Z06. Is it really worth spending twice as much as a Zonda F to get a car that's slower and uglier?

It suggests the Lamborghini Diablo from the side, but even more like the Vector, Corvette and Ultima overall. With generous nods to the Mosler and Acura NSX. The rear reminds me closest of the Corvette, Ultima and NSX. The doors of the Diablo and Vector. The front is closest to a Vector or something from Westfield, even a Gallardo, Viper and Lotus.
They're trying to beat the Veyrons record now. The SSC Aero got up to 230 mph at HALF throttle! They couldn't push it because it snowed that day; they're rescheduling the test run. This car weighs like 2700 lbs. and has 1180 hp, so it most likely is going to beat the Veyrons record. I like the Veyron though, don't get me wrong, but it has to lost its title some time. ;)

where as veyron is

And as far as the Veyron debate goes, the way old 80's callaway sledgehammer corvette ran a higher top speed than the veyron. yes! the V is cooler but at over a million bucks it should come with unlimited gas too.

To all of you who say that this thing is going to beat the Veyron: Sure it is. At least down a straight stretch of road. But that doesn't matter. The Veyron wasn't made to never be beat. That's impossible. We will always manage to push things just a little bit further. The Veyron was about taking the supercar definition to the next level. The ssc does not do that. And it's ugly.

The Veyron isn't even a fast track car. It can only go fast in a straight line. On the Nurburgring Nordschleife, it was slower than the Pagani Zonda F, Koenigsegg CCR, Porsche Carrera GT, Porsche 997 GT3. And it was only 2 seconds faster than the Ford GT, Mosler MT900s Photon, and 2.9 seconds faster than the Corvette Z06. Is it really worth spending twice as much as a Zonda F to get a car that's slower and uglier?

There is a car called Barabus TKR that claims a top performance speed of 270 mph at 1005 hp capable of doing zero to 60 mph in 1.67 seconds.
If that claim proves to be true, that has got to be the world's fastest streetcar to this day.

Aaw Americans trying to build a supercar. It looks like a preproduction Diablo which unfortunately is a bit outdated. Also.. It takes alot more than a big engine and a high topspeed to beat the Veyron or even Porche Carrera GT, Murcielago LP640, Koenigsegg and the rest of the European supercars.
The American attempts at supercar making has so far failed. The Vector was rubbish, the Saleen is ultra tacky at best and now this thing. Atleast you got the Ford GT40 right. The only American supercar.

The Corvette C6 Z06, which costs but $70k, can match or beat Euro exotics in performance, that cost twice to thrice its price. Imagine if Chevy developed the C6 Z06 enough to justify a $200,000 pricetag, like Lamborghini and Ferrari F430? It'd TOTALLY embarrass them.
Saleen S7 TT is not tacky. The Saleen S7R has already won around 50 races worldwide, and it came out bu 5-6 years ago.

It suggests the Lamborghini Diablo from the side, but even more like the Vector, Corvette and Ultima overall. With generous nods to the Mosler and Acura NSX. The rear reminds me closest of the Corvette, Ultima and NSX. The doors of the Diablo and Vector. The front is closest to a Vector or something from Westfield, even a Gallardo, Viper and Lotus.

They're trying to beat the Veyrons record now. The SSC Aero got up to 230 mph at HALF throttle! They couldn't push it because it snowed that day; they're rescheduling the test run. This car weighs like 2700 lbs. and has 1180 hp, so it most likely is going to beat the Veyrons record. I like the Veyron though, don't get me wrong, but it has to lost its title some time. ;)
