  • you sound like a can of bees like the rest of the thousand muppets playing the same boring shit! haha ..relax u robotic freak!

  • @vitalizer1000 Thanks Dad!

  • @vitalizer1000 fag.

  • Great phrasing man but I must know how this Suhr guitar compares to your PRS if you please. :)

  • Beautiful guitar, how much did it cost?

  • @ScottNicholasSimpson Thanks! Not at liberty to say I'm afraid but you can talk deals with their dealers.

  • Brilliant playing. Well done mate on the new axe.

  • @sarinapaparone Thanks so much!

  • tone is boss

  • Move to the UK and come and teach in my studio!!

  • Thank you very much, I decided to get the Modern, can't wait to become a Suhr family member!!! By the way great play!!!

  • Hey there, I am ordering a Suhr Standard, What's the neck profile you have and pick ups?

  • @jjmgunsjm C slim, 10-14" radius, SSH+, ML, SSV.

  • @jjmgunsjm

after 5 months I got my Modern, I am part of the suer family now, couldn't be any happier, any way great playing dude

  • your not human :)

  • Clean as a whistle. Nice.

  • Cleans as a whistle. Nice.

  • are suhr guitars expensive? they look cool and sound cool or what i've seen in many videos, but the only shop in my country that sells suhr is in another city, and they don't list prices,so how much did you paid for this one?

  • @rod3067 You can find a pricelist at suhrguitars (dot)(com). I endorse the product, but if you visit the dealer page on their site you'll find a dealer willing to look after you with a price. There's also the odd 2nd hand one on the auction sites, but there's nothing quite like ordering a custom instrument with everything you want on it. CB

  • @rod3067 yep they suhr are expensive, one of the most expensive guitars out there at about 4-5g..but worth every penny!

  • your picking hand works with such amazing economy, would love a slow down/break down of your technique and how you developed it

  • @roccckkerrr Thanks! I'll keep that in mind for a youtube vid in the future!

  • Holy shit , ok first off I have a KRAMER ST100 and 2 others and I love the damn thing , .. Recently I have been looking for another guitar and if what I see in all that I have found in the Suhr is true ,, I believe that it might well be a addition for me .. Mind this though I have a KRAMER Arostar and a KRAMER 2000 as well , so I have not found a single guitar to replace my KRAMER addiction, I am looking to add to it.. BTW , you sound AWESOME as ALL hell mate!

  • @TheThanandros Thanks so much!

  • isn't the most of this mixolydian?

  • @liamzuid Yeah, lots of that.

  • Hey Chris, i've seen all the Suhr models and variations on their website, but can they customize it to your liking? For instance can I buy your exact guitar except with green or orange flamed maple instead of blue, and/or 24 frets?

  • @slapbaZZ The moderns have 24 frets but you can't get Standards that way.

  • what guitar strings are you using?

  • @guitar15243 10-46 elixir is what it came with.

  • How can 2 people dislike this?

  • While other guitarists who have Suhrs absolutely do the guitar shame by drowning out the tone with tons of overdrive. I always wanted to see someone give a Suhr a singing tone with no sharp ends and you've done just that. Simply amazing sounding and great playing too!

  • @XAlphaZEROX Thanks so much! I've always been a big fan of the guitar/amp combo with little else in the equation. Glad you enjoyed that too.

  • yeah man... this is great

  • I'll just be pullin' up a chair here and you can noodle as much as you feel so inclined! ;) Did you order the Suhr with the same sort of pickup configuration as Guthrie's? I like how I can still hear "Strat" in there! :)

  • @xpaddy01 Yeah, me too. I'm not sure what Guthrie uses. It could be the same, but I think the bent saddles and maple neck add a brightness that I was really looking for. I quite never understood why I liked Paul Gilbert's maple necks better until I got this guitar.

  • dude you whale ... would you describe your technique as primarily legato, sweep or alternate pick?

  • @flowerdrop1 Thanks! All 3 depending on the lick. I try to let the ideas drive the technique, rather than the other way around.

  • nice playing mate

  • Suhr or vigier X_X

  • at 37 was my favourit lick.

  • wow...that's some seriously impressive playing - I love that kind of fast, smooth playing with a great clean sound - more videos please!!! (love the suhr too)

  • what... o_o

  • Why I'm only just now subscribing is a mystery to me.

  • WOW!!! That is all I can say cause I think he just shredded my face off good job

  • Hey Chris..Why do you speak spanish dude?

  • @CRANKYONE100 I don't really. I just made a bit of an effort to answer a question in the language it was posed.

  • wow that looks almost excactly like my Suhr. Except for the middle pickup. Check my profile for vids.

  • Que amplificador y efectos estas utilizando???

  • @M80000109656 práctica barata amplificador con efectos del Boss

  • Got any tips for picking insanley effortlessly like that?

  • once again, gorgeous tone >_> may i inquire the amplifier used in this shredtastic extravaganza?

  • @therag just a crappy 25w transistor amp I got when I was a kid... goes to show you how great the guitar can sound.

  • @chrisbrooksmusic You gotta play it well also. Else it wont sound as good as you make it sound.

  • yeah, you know... nothing too musical haha

  • I give up....that was BAD ASS!!

  • Thats like fucking retarded good. Intensity + feel = Brillance.

  • @vgraham44 Thanks so much!

  • Wow, impressive! What kind of pickups does it have? In the first part of the video, did you use the split neck single coil to get those stratty tones? They actually sound really convincing - I find that most split coil sounds are a bit cheesy and don't sound as warm/chimey as a 'real' single coil.

  • @zaulkin SSV and SSH+ I use position 2 and 4 a lot which give me some of the best chimey but gainey tones I've had from my guitars. I can't remember if I split the coils in the video but I often do and the results are ace.

  • Nice playing. I just got my Suhr s3

  • @gmrexford Congrats and welcome to the family!

  • this is the first video ive seen of you. your insane!!

  • @Jcam1sfly Thanks! Hope you can check the others out too! CB

  • Your choice of notes and articulation when mixing Mixolydian with Pentatonic Minor in the beginning section is just, so good lol

  • @slapbaZZ Thanks so much!

  • I love the whammy work, has a real nice Steve Vai kind of sound

  • @vanhalenkid Thank you. I never really go apeshit on the bar but it's a great trem.

  • Nice nice guitar... which pickups has?... what scale were you using at the first riffs?...

    Thanks

  • @jocheluich SV, SSH+. Mixolydian.

  • mines arriving tomorrow! awesome playing

  • @jamescornford Thanks! And great going on buying a Suhr. You won't regret it!

  • just a question .... re u usin any kind of compression for this vid.... cause it sounds like u re using a comp pedal, but maybe, it´s just the youtube compression ... so, how do u get that tone, that´s really nice one,,,, very warm but with a lot of power too, mmmm bb preamp maybe ?¿

  • @openmind1984 TS808 in this instance but Suhr sent me a Koko Boost with the guitar and its been a staple of my tone since I first tried it. It will be all over the leads on my new album.

  • @chrisbrooksmusic nice but, what about compression ?¿?

  • @openmind1984 I don't use any compression.

  • my ears arent as sharp as pro musicians but i really hear something different and great out of suhr guitars.

  • @mojoefly They are sensational!

  • Beautiful guitar, great playing, nice sound!

  • @wgs4444 thanks!

  • Dude, your playing is awesome! What are the pickups? Ssh+? With ssv? I didn't even notice if there was a single coil.... I'm writing on my iPod touch... Thanks. Ps check out (maybe next year) for the new suhr pt100 coming in midi controllable with a new sound not same as the cae branded.

  • HEY cHRIS .i'M A FELLOW AUSSIE HERE IN sYDNEY AND I LOVE THOSE FUSION hOWE TYPE TONES THAT MAPLE NECK IS SNAPPING OUT BUT HOW CAN IT HANDLE dropped D palm muted chugg riffsMetal playing)?-Specially on your dual rec...Can you please do a demo of that type of stuff when you have time.

    cheers mate

  • @CRANKYONE100 No prob with metal. I don't play metal so someone that does it full time might want to go with rosewood and maybe the Aldrich pickups, but I can get away with it for the little time I chug away on anything heavy.

  • im looking at a suhr with really similar options... how does it fare in the realm of warm heavy jazz cleans

  • wohoooo i still can't belive that in this video your sound hear like you use a expensive amp hahaha lol. cool dude i love you tone and your style hehehe . you want to use suhr amp too? woooo perfect hahaha

  • amazing dude . what amp do you use?

  • @ayaloureiro This is just my cheap first solid state amp, a 25w Australian amp made by Jade. For real recording and gigs I'm currently using a Mesa Dual Rectifier head and 2x12 box, though I will eventually move to Suhr for amps too.

  • Great guitar yea dude Suhr Amps are great I am getting Suhr Od 100 SE+ with the 4X12 cab in some months the amps are killer :) Great guitar and playing.

  • @chrisbrooksmusic In Germany we call it 'hamster cage' ;-))))

Chris I can´t wait to get your new album

  • How much is worth that sublime suhr guitar?

  • @atomixmax The Suhr Guitars (com) website has price lists for all models and options, then it's a matter of choosing a Suhr dealer and seeing what you can work out. It may be cheaper to find one already built an in stock because they often like to sell stock on the wall first to replace with fresh stock. But there's nothing like choosing your features bit by bit and getting EXACTLY what you want!

  • Thanks for the info chris, you are one paramount musician :)

  • Great playing and tone, Chris! That Suhr fits you real well. Seems you got exactly what you wanted. It's plenty Stratty but can get the fat and fluid humbucker sounds as well. Of course, we all know that tone is in the hands, but I'm sure good gear helps!

  • Sure does! Thanks for the kind words! It's covering all the bases I need right now.

  • amazing technique and tone!

  • Cheers for the kind words! Appreciate it!

  • amazing man!!!!

  • Thanks!

  • I play an Ibanez Jem and Universe at home, but I can say of all guitars I've played a Suhr Standard with those pickups is the one that really blows me away. The sounds are just fantastic. Hope you're enjoying it and I look forward to hearing it on a CD!

  • Thanks! One of my best mates plays Jems too but secretly I think he's designing his own Suhr in his mind :)

  • Aren't we all designing our own custom Suhr (and or Ibanez) in our mind?!

  • All that money for an axe, and it's a bolt-on...why not a PRS or Hamer?

  • I have a PRS, that's why not. Bolt-on is not an inferior process, but a process yielding a different tone. Never noticed the spank and brightness of a CE PRS compared to the focused mids of the PRS Custom? Explore dude. You're missing out on some great guitars if you think one process only makes a good guitar. All that money? Did someone forward you my receipt? LOL

  • Hi Chris congratulations for your new guitar, it sounds amazing in your hands. A big salute from Colombia

    John Prieto

  • Cheers John. Hey, my sister-in-law is from Colombia!

  • WOAH!!! Those were some bad ass licks!!!

  • Great guitar, amazing playing!! When you kick in the overdrive and start shredding around 50 seconds in, are you economy picking? You're hand moves so little it scares me

  • Thanks! No, the picking there was all alternate. For faster stuff that's what I'm usually doing. I do use economy picking quite often but usually for sequences that go back and forth a little where alternate is impractical, like the lick at 0:38

  • Sweet job Chris. Still listen to your album all the time. :)

  • Ouch!Amazing Chris!it must be really nice to play cause it looks like you played with this guitar during all your life!!Not only 15 min! :D

Awesome technique and phrasing, some tasty bends right there!

    Can't wait to receive mine...now 6 months... :D

See ya at IG and congrats again bro!

  • Cheers friend. The wait isn't easy and I got mine faster than the current wait and even that was hell!

  • LOL

Who the fuck discusses how "musical" their "music" is?

So you're playing a musical instrument, but there's very little music coming out?

Damn, I'd really want to rethink my playing if such a factor was even mentioned!

  • You're right. Let me go back in time and change it for you so that it doesn't ruin your day.

  • But to answer the 1st question: someone who's honest enough to say that isn't a song, just some experimentation.

  • That's cool if you don't think experimentation is musical; it just seemed a bit ridiculous to me for music to be described that way.

  • Man I need a Suhr guitar so I can play like that ! Nice guitar and real nice playing too Chris ! Will be sure to check out a Suhr first chance I get !!

  • awesomee!

  • Sounds and looks great! Awesome playing as well. I'm saving up for a Suhr myself. An awful lot of great players playing a Suhr these days. Looking forward to your new album, Chris!

  • Thanks! Yes, Suhrs are going nuts. Not so in my end of the world but maybe I can do my part and rectify that.

  • Sounds great! What pickup setting do you use at the beginning? And at 1.44?

    Enjoy your new guitar!

  • first I used the combo of neck and middle with the neck split, and at the end (I think) it was the bridge tapped with full gain but the volume knob rolled back a lot. Very responsive pickups they are!

  • Thanks! Yeah they sound very dynamic and responsive. Simply Awesome!

  • congrats! they play so nice, am i right? hahah

  • Ummmmm, hell yeah!

  • You look like Marco Sfogli.

No seriously, the guitar has a lovely overdrive sound. If it weren't so ugly and it had 24 frets, I'd buy one!

  • Marco's a handsome man, so thanks.

  • Sounds like an awesome axe Chris! Stunning playing too man.

  • Cheers Inspector Rick!

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Crazy good! Can't wait to hear your new tunes with this axe CB!

  • Sounds ace, mate! A little Paul Gilbert-ish, with a touch of country twang :)

  • Yeah, there was some of that going on with the fingers for sure.
