But his vibrato sounds awful too. Listen to the solo in Harvester of Sorrow from the Moscow show. There's a 17 year gap between these two concerts, and his vibrato still hasn't improved. That's why Kirk isn't rated amongst the likes of Yngwie, Vai, Satch, Petrucci, Friedman etc. He got stuck in his comfort zone of pentatonic scales played fast. He dosen't go beyond his comfort zone. The truly great guitarists always go for something new e.g. John 5 is now a chicken picker!!
