  • More likely we'll see flexible computers similar in shape and function to the iPad replace physical newspapers and magazines entirely. All content will be downloaded directly to our devices that can be folded or bent for easier storage and seamlessly expanded when we want to use them.

  • Gee Alexx has been busy shooting for Outside and Viv Magazines. I love the slow motion.

I cant wait for the Red One Scarlet to come out.

Red One camera kits can be hired here in New Zealand for $430 US +tax a day.

  • Awesome camerawork. Just wait until the IPAD comes out !

  • Don't you just want to punch Alexx for some reason.... maybe it's the second x...

  • Two Years Before The Mast

  • Its the way of the future guys, this will be big.

  • That is absolutely insane! Done amazingly well too!

  • thermovalist... I'm with you... living art?

  • This brought tears to my eyes.

Motion Designers will indeed have careers after tv dies. I must know what are the two types of lights you are filming with during those outside shots? Please enlighten me :)

  • So basically you want to devalue photography by making everything into motion pictures. I'm pretty sure this isn't a new concept.

If we want to see the world in motion, why wouldn't we just look around? Or go on YouTube. A moving magazine would probably give me a headache.

  • Devalue photography? Sorry but that is one of the most ridiculous statements I have heard in a long time and just about sums up stills photographer snobbery towards people who work in the motion picture and video industry.

As someone who does both I can tell you that while there are different skill sets at work, creating great video and motion pictures takes a damn sight more skill and knowledge than any stills work.

  • I do both as well. I regard the motion picture industry highly, and most of my friends work in it. I wasn't saying anything negative about motion pictures in general, but taking over one of the last mediums where still photography survives makes me angry. It doesn't matter how many snobby photographers you've met, the fact remains that it is a dying medium.

  • sick music. good work.

  • hooray even more moving and blinking in our lives. Can't wait for it. Who wants to read an article in a magazine with the rest of the page moving around? Pretty distracting, isn't it.

Amazing technology, but it should be implemented in more useful environments than a journal.

  • Living Art???Um, it's called 'video'. It's been around for awhile now...

  • @theremovalist Have to agree. Isnt this basically motion picture with renders and formatted for digital displays like digital posters and ipads/iphones.

Photographers are getting a liitle over excited about this " Hey lets shoot 25 shots and join them together-and make motion"

Just grab a video camera mate ..........

  • What's the name of this song?

  • watch the whole thing it tells you...........

  • magazines are cutting budgets like crazy, how much did this cost?

  • exactly nsthankiya! i don't see magazines paying for these types of productions on a monthly basis vs. buying still photos for their prints (not even taking into account the costs of the actual technology and the "screenlike" pages)

  • You are AMAZING at what you do!! This is our future, WOW can't wait to see more!!

  • Dude. This is really kickass...

  • well done

  • and for a low news stand price of $49.99 you can have your weekly celebrity gossip on moving People magazine!

  • already predicted this like 5 yrs ago how to and stuff

  • um.. it was already THERE 5 years ago.

  • lol i know i am thinking on a pretty good level on this one.....Imagine when playboy gets this technology :D

  • going to make a crazy paper airplane

  • good bye plane old paper

  • Oh shit, my magazine died. Have a charger?

  • Wouldn't you just drive the quad with a steadicam, instead of setting up a dolly and having 2 people running and pushing it?

  • No because it would bounce all over the place and produce vomit inducing footage.

  • STEADICAM. It works amazingly well, you can run with the thing and it doesn't shake.

  • Too shaky!

  • magazines of the future are going to be expensive!

  • those mags are going to be videos.if they even think today's kids will bother read newpapers. I like the way the shot the clip the qualiy is great but the content is meh ! where is the animated typo ?

  • cool concept, but if we've gotten to the point where e-ink works like this, wouldnt we just have a device and we'd download all the magazines and newspapers we want to it?

  • It would be nice to know a ballpark production cost to create this. While the technology to achieve this is growing each day , magazine budgets are not. So how to you convince advertisers to help pick up a chunk of the tab? Otherwise, it will only be a nice idea.

  • Great promo , Alex.

I have to wonder how the budgetary issues will be addressed. Living Art isn't cheap.

  • Oh, yawn.

Newstands will become annoying to epic proportions. I hope this day never comes.

  • EVEN BIGGER NEWS! Outside magazine showcases a story about an actual sport and person outdoors instead of their usual, travelzine fluff. The flexible optics are exciting. But, better content is even more promising.

  • omg, this will be like harry potter!! moving photos XD

  • Daring choice of music for this. What is it? Or is it made just for this?

  • Two Years Before The Mast does the first song and El Ten Eleven does the second

  • This may be a good idea.

Will hobos be able to afford a copy?

    Living is the future.

    But I agree with grocerybagdottv.

  • Everything about this is absolutely glorious.....this just made my entire yearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

  • What was the purpose of the 5D when you have a RED? Just curious.

  • They both have ups and downs. 5D rocks the RED in low light, for example....

  • Man, I loved the video... I like it! More stuff for video producers (like me) to do! Great beach shots too.. Those red camera's are something else.

  • Magazines of the future...DIGGIN IT! great shoot Alexx. only two seconds in the race and comming second from a five minute lead. OUCH!

  • sounds really amazing ^.^

  • So it's like a website that costs money and takes 6-8 weeks to look at? n_n
