  • Lucky you did'nt work for Veolia. They don't give a f*** about their employees well being. They'd blame u without waiting 4 any explanation

  • My dad was the driver in this video, The cause was thought to be an hydraulic leak on to the exhaust but the Fire service was convinced it was an electrical fault. Apologise for the swearing. The guy who recorded this was a work collegue and stopped to see if my dad was okay.

  • no people are just dumb here lol did u ever find out what caused it

  • its so funny when you hear the british curseing

  • Why are people so dumb and still driving past this ????

  • @SarahFents Dood i know right?? At least stop? and that cop car should of stopped traffic...but it's not america so maybe there are different rules?? idk?

  • 1.Why the firemen are too close,if may explode.

2.Why the firemen dont close the road.

3.Why are you recording, why you not driving. :-))

  • @Komotau4691 BOODY HELL ! what ! do you work for health and safety!,... joking aside , you do have some valid POINTS!,,,,

  • @Komotau4691 Because they need to be close to put the fire out. They are also brave, so do not mind some danger. Firemen have no authority to close a road.

  • Lick of paint and a new interior it will be like new

  • HEZM2 du hast recht :D :D :D

  • Das nennt man Müllverbrennung

  • usually if the police get there in time.. they will set the speed limit to 50 or 40 on a 70 but.. obv they didnt turn up cos the police are shit...

  • very stupid fire men !

  • Damn You Daimler! You can't make anything that's safe from stuff like this! You made the London Citaro deathtrap, you made the Thomas Built Buses school buses that catch fire, and your Mercedes Trucks catch fire too! WHAT HAPPENED TO GERMAN CRAFTSMANSHIP?!

  • "0:37 fuck ME"

  • Look at the idiots driving past!

  • @wannabemedic My words.

  • a už maj pro dnešek HOTOVO

  • 0:37 FUCK MEE lol

  • @bosch101 WHAT YOU ME TO SAY IS!!!!!!!!!FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK,.............MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • I told my wife not to put hot ashes in the bin! It even says so on the bloody lid!!!

  • Anything to finish early lol

  • Well done trumpton

  • why no police to protect the fireguys ?

  • lol or if youre a technicaly correct person, " a refuse freighter",,worked on em many years ago ,down one county from this, west sussex...although another bin lorry did start smoking from the hopper, along the country road into pertworth lol,,and the fire brigade made him open it up and drive slowly along the road to empty it out,,i dont know why i am taking the piss though, because i was the driver of the crew that had ot go clear it.but aside of that, glad to hear no one was injured..

  • A dustcart? Come on its in the UK Here, A FREAKING BIN LORRY!

  • They are actually lights on the back not extinguishers

  • At Least in america we shut bothe lanes of traffic down when we r working with a live fire!!!!!

  • @TheFireman1600 Good for you Americans. We'd rather keep the traffic flowing unless completely necessary. No point in risking an accident by bringing 70mph traffic to stationary.

  • so when i put my rubbish out it's not supposed to be on fire? okay got it.

  • hmm a mobile incinnerator

  • oh a garbage truck ok

  • 'dustcart'???? That's a new one, LOL. but seriously....aren't those two fire extinguishers mounted at the rear of the truck, or are they just decorations?......hmmm

  • they could recycle the bin lorry.

  • Seems to be common, was this truck a DENNIS by any chance? cause this happened to dad when he used to work on the dustcarts, Same place too.

  • @RandyDarkshade2 Indeed, I've seen fires just like this a few times with DENNIS refuse trucks. Seems to be a recurring problem.

  • how did it start?

  • wat a load of RUBBISH!!!!!!!!!

  • nice job, you burned the sign.

  • Is that a Mercedes Econic?

  • i bet that mofo smelled

  • But I have to ask, if it's just trash and the truck, dogouse, and engine are scrap to begin with, why waste water trying to extinguish a fire that's not hurting anyone?

  • As a firefighter, glad to see no one was hurt. However, where I'm from in New Jersey, USA, we're required to block all the lanes of traffic. How come if the Americans are so free, the British are smart enough to avoid a burning truck even if they're free to drive right next to it? I'm worried I might have to start another Revolutionary War. What a bunch of dust (should read GARBAGE but the United States FBI is tracking me).

  • Their accents! I understood about a third of that they were saying.

  • Here a Germany A Fire Fighter Leader have limited Police rights. He can Close Roads and Detour Traffic. He can also Order People to Move away.when they bring themself in Danger, when they standing too near,or Disturbing the Work of the Firefighters.

And we learned Protection is the Most Importand tself Protection.Nmobody is Helped when the Firefighters need self Help becauswe a other Crasghed into the Man.

  • sorry that is totaly Unprofessional and Lifedangerous !!!

    1. Road not Closed

    2. Firefighter working only under a half Meter away from the Traffic that is Driving with not lessthan 60 to 90 km/h

3,No Protection against the Lane where the Burning Truck is,.What when a maybe unconentrated maybe tired Truck Crash into the Scene... ?

This all is a Good Exampe how NOT TO DO.

  • thats why it took them 3 weeks to collect my bin!

  • i like the way people are just driving past your burnig lorry rather than stopping to see if you guys are ok.

  • you sound like your from landan

  • Dose the fire departments or birgades as I think your country calls them, have women as fire fighters? We do here in the USA and I am wondering about your country. I am glad that no poeple got hurt. It sucks that the truck was so badly damaged.

  • Any chance u can upload the one with swearing in plz

  • What's up with British Firefighters?? Here in the U.S., we would've shut down the highway, those little cones aren't going to stop some idiot flying by and hitting someone. And what's up with those little garden hoses? The smallest we'd EVER use is an 1 1/2", or in the case of a truck a 1 3/4". GPM's put out fires.

  • @ffjsb You do know that the U.S is not the be all and end all of firefighting technique/equipment in the world don't you? It's always very easy to criticize ways that differ from your own without knowing ALL the facts. Try not to be so high and mighty, the U.S if far from perfect. Have a nice day.

  • @ziggyzedly Physics don't change country to country. An unsafe act here is unsafe there. The fact is, more GPM's will put out fires faster and safer no matter where you are in the world.

  • @ffjsb So what your saying is the more water the better, say when fighting a structrural fire doing S&R?

  • @ziggyzedly Generally yes. You have to have a sufficient quantity of water being delivered per minute to overcome the BTU's being produced. On a large fire a very large amount of water delivered quickly will reduce the amount of fire faster, resulting in less radiant heat and slowing fire spread. This is a good tactic to use even if the water supply can only be maintained for a few minutes. This tactic will usually result in less fire spread and less net water requirements.

  • @ffjsb Ahhhh......you must be from the old school of surround and drown. Perhaps the US in some parts have not caught up with the rest of the world in more affective ways of firefighting eg atomising water by pulsing and penciling techniques, it requires skill with the branch in controlling gases and the fire and not creating massive amounts of steam to burn firefighters and any people trapped in the structure.

  • @ziggyzedly I doubt anyone is gonna get steamed in a trash truck. And straight streams don't create massive amounts of steam. We also ventilate properly to control gases. Surround and drown is for when the building is untenable and defensive mode is called for. I've learned from old school, but we also keep up with new techniques such as class A foam.

  • @ffjsb The question i asked was related to structural fire fighting, not this truck fire. As you can see they extingushed the fire with speed and very well with that high pressure reel and with minimal water usage. Pulsing and penciling is and has been they way to go at structural jobs for controlling gases, and steam is steam no matter how you look at it. As for using class A foam as a "new" technique, then you are sadly behind the times.

  • @ziggyzedly Anybody still in a building where there is enough heat to "steam" somebody, is already dead from inhalation of toxic gases. Penciling and pulsing only are usefull for fighting fires in basements or confined spaces. In most other structures, ventilation is how you control gases. Usually if the fire is too big for ventilation, it's too big for offensive attack anyway. And the fact remains, GPM's put out fires.

  • @ffjsb We are going around in circles, i disagree with things that you say and visa versa. It all comes down to training in different parts of the world, old and new styles. Stay safe.

  • @ziggyzedly Actually the police decide to shut roads down in case of fires. And in most cases it`s for the safety of the fireman and passing motorists. Personally I wouldn`t feel comfortable driving that close to a burning truck, especially if the fuel explodes.

  • @quimbyt That might be the case that police are the ones who decide to shut down roads in the US, but in Australia most if not all Fire services have the power to shut down any road, highway or freeway that we see fit. In Australia majority of motorists do slow down for these type of events and do pay attention to traffic cones. After 17 years of firefighting, i have never ever seen a vehicle explode because of fuel, you can't believe what you see in the movies and TV. Cheers.

  • @ziggyzedly I know enough not to believe what I see in the movies. I`ve seen a few car fires in my life. I was in the U.S. Army and I have been around guns all my life, because of that I have experience with explosives. Like gunpowder, for gasoline to explode you need an air tight container, in a car fire the gas will burn before it explodes. Gas tanks are not air tight. I`ve set fire to gun powder on the ground to prove to the ignorant that it would burn rather then explode.

  • @quimbyt I don't know where you are, but in the US, the fire dept. has full authority to shut down any road or highway. Police are just used so firefighters can do fire, rescue or EMS. And rarely is there a fuel explosion, fuel usually will blow out the fuel filler tube or the tank will fail and spill the contents. The greatest "explosion" risk is from the tires, air tanks or struts and door pistons.

  • @ffjsb Usually the cops get there first, every fire I have seen in my life the police were always there first. I really don`t care who shuts down the roads as long as everybody is safe. Yes I`m sure firemen will shut down roads in unsafe conditions. I`m in Illinois in the Chicagoland area. Read my statement again I said "IF" fuel cannot explode unless it is an air tight container, gas tanks are not air tight. It`s best to make sure everybody is safe.

  • @quimbyt Usually here in Central Ohio, when the cops get there first they have everything so blocked off, WE can even get in. lol! Some people are so stupid, there could be a truck load of explosives of fire and they'd still want to get past.

  • Lol, "Oh fock me.........Jesus......

  • you guys who are talking on the video are funny as hell. Cheers!

  • That's one way to cut down the rubbish waste lol

  • jeder der vorbei fährt dem gehört der führerschein abgenommen

  • I'm surprised that no civilians pulled over to check it out.

I mean. That's what I'd do. Just stop maybe a hundred or two hundred meters down the road and come over to watch the show.

  • ohho i bet that smeeled fuckin nasty and some terrorist might have put a bomb in his rubbish

  • @saf768 honestly mate grow up

  • The film is near enough real time. We couldn't believe how quickly the fire brigade got there, literally a few minutes. They were very professional. No police though, althought the traffic didn't even slow down. The burn didn't reach the hopper, so we were spared the smell of that. It still smelt pretty bad though.

  • @phatrobert You call that professional? They protect the scene from on coming traffic by driving straight past it & fending off while parked in the smoke plume. Then the fire fighter starts attacking the fire with a hosereel whilst standing in a LIVE TRAFFIC lane. At 1:06 he is crouched down on the lane divider and gets completely obscured by smoke. All it takes is a lorry to drive past looking at the incident and flatten the fire fighter. Luckily nobody got hurt.

  • Holy....wow how long did it burn>and where were the police?!?

  • Bet that smell was horrific

  • rubbish truck??=dumptruck..gotcha.

  • I remember when my dustbin lorry caught fire. We tried to eject the load but to no success lol so we had to stand and watch it burn as well. Wasnt that bad a fire and the wagon was on the road 2 weeks later but it was never the same again lol.

  • just curious what the hell is a dustcart?

  • A rubbish truck!

  • @phatrobert ohhh ok thanks

  • @1stresponder1 It's an Irish term for garbage truck

  • @1stresponder1 Dustcart is English for Garbage-truck

  • that must have stunk, cool video tho :D

  • should have stayed in school lads

  • Prob would have been a good idea to stop the traffic?

  • use foam

  • Probably all the shite behind the packer-plate.

  • the new Merc wagons are a pile of shite to be honest (59 plate) cheaply built and the lifts are not upto the job. Guessing this wagon was a 2006 or 2008 wagon, tacky built wagons.

  • well thats why u shouldnt smoke in the cab ! lol i lyk the way the one bloke sais u havn't been messin about have u the other sounds guilty. like i said no smokin in the cab!!!!!!!!

  • I asked him if the DUSTCART had been behaving itself.

Also, none of the crew were smokers. If the driver was a smoker he would have been smoking one in the video as he was really shaken up.

  • I can't believe there was no sign of the Old Bill during the whole drama, I wonder where they were? Oh I forgot, they have all been replaced by speed camera's.

  • Did they found out wat started it

Glad to hear no one was injured

  • It was possibly an hydraulic oil leak that got onto the exhaust. It is very hard to tell. The fire brigade thought there may have been an electrical problem.

  • Right Mleyden. Pity the police weren't there to close the road and prevent all the muppets driving merrily through the smoke past the potentioally exploding vehicle! Plenty of opportunities for a Darwin award there!

  • @guitardogger

    funny thing that..

the police probably wont turn up until the next day.

    they'll miss the footy ;)

  • That will be one of Horsham district councils new carts. Not only does it collect your refuse, it also incinerates it. Saves on man hours and diesel.

  • is it called quarser by any chance

  • I'm surprised the police weren't there to piss everyone about by shutting the road or something. Looks like a job well done by the fire crew there.

  • it says wot company on the front of the cab if u look, and ya can tell its a domestic collection vehicle...... sorry, WAS!! lol

  • where was this to and what was the company what caused it do you know

  • Still no excuse for not collecting my rubbish lmfao
