Very moving and eloquent in it's own way. And astute of you not to have cluttered- up the video with some sappy soundtrack which would have negatively impacted the visual. Borne back ceaselessly into the past . . . Well done!
they were re-interred here in 1975, and are on top of one another instead of side by side, as there was a shortage of space for 2 vaults. he died in 1940, and she in 1947 from a fire in the mental asylum where she was staying.
sad that such an exciting man should end up in such mundane surroundings...wonder what it looked like back then...thank you for showing us something so specialxx
whaddaya mean "mundane" ?? Ya' should have seen the original place, The church would not allow him at his death to buried in concecrated ground because of his writings. They many years later had a change of heart with much work on the part of his daughter to get it done.
Do you know who is buried in the grave to the right of F. Scott Fitzgerald/ Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald? It would really help me out on something I'm working on.
It's not the original burial site but rather where he was re-interred sometime later. The presiding Priest & pastor of the church for the re-interrment was Father William J. Silk who died in 2002. Scotty F.Scotts daughter attended the ceremony.
Fitzgerald is my favorite writer of fiction, bar none. "Tender is the Night" is the finest novel I have ever read, it is perfection of the form. Thank you for the video, I have always wanted to visit that site.
Thank you very much for posting this video. I have always wanted to visit F. Scott's burial site but have only seen photos of it. The way in which you walk through the church, with your video camera, into the cemetery, showing everything around it, including the modern city in the background, is the next best thing to being there. I really appreciate that you did this. Thank you again.
I believe "Tender" is his best novel.
He lived it more than the others.
