  • great memories of uk 70s childhood - star trek 1 and carps - beam me up Karen...

  • the carpenters were musical gods.

  • I was just about set to say that you forgot to include images of the NX-01 in your video... but then about half way through she made an appearence. The Carpenters are by far my favorite group ever... and Star Trek (especially ST: ENT and TNG) is my all time favorite TV show.. However I would have liked to see a few clips of Captain Archer and Crew and possibly Picard and Crew too.. Otherwise very well done!!!

  • Always nice to hear this again

  • my sister had this on a LP it wasn't a hit but i used to listen to it over and over with headphones on i'm so surprised that so many other people know this song. but then again as good as she is maybe i'm not lol.

  • Waiting? I think they are here....crop circle, mandelbrot set 1985. Check out the Ufo u-tubes!

  • when and if contact is ever made with aliens.. this superb song will be re-recorded by the music stars of the future ....and when and if it is re-recorded ....i hope they include karens vocal....fantastic song !!!

  • @aefhwtra

Humanity have had contact with several extraterrestrial species all throughout our history.

  • Gee, Karen and Richard, How many times in 1977, did you both see CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND? It sounds like DOZENS. I'll tell y'all, THIS was unexpected from The Carpenters; wouldn't y'all agree?

  • epic song

  • It's great to be human. I myself am willing to meet any non-Earth race, be they hostile or benevolent - even gay. Life is bigger than Gordon Morrice, therefore... brinf what is BIGGER...

  • What a great voice she had. Do only the good die young? If so, how sad. She rocked regardless.

  • EXCELLENT VIDEO.....HOPE THEY COME SOON!

  • honestly i love karens voice but why does every1 forget richard!? he wrote ALL their music lol :)

  • my mum bought this for me superb

  • This is really creative. Combining 2 things I like a lot. I've always wondered what this song is about. Did the Carpenter's have a Close Encounter they want to share?

  • Love your video!

  • Karen sings with such grace.

  • wow,i remember this song from when i was a kid 7 or 8 yrs old what a flashback!!!awesome!!

  • I love this song brings tears to my eyes....I love you Karen.

  • beautiful Karen

  • If Karen sang the phonebook I would listen to it...

  • FOR OKSANA AND DANIIL... FROM LEVENTINO...

  • Class Simple As x

  • Calling occupants of Interplanetary craft: Please bring Karen back to us! It´s been sad to live in a world without her! Thanks.

  • @ninguemvj Amen to that!

  • great song and great compilation video.

  • LOL 4:18 - 4:21 it's the kid from Gentle Ben and Ron Howard's brother - Clint Howard.

  • I remember myself at 7 years old sitting in my room listening to this song and reading the album cover. Aside from their Christmas album this was their greatest song.

  • Karen's voice is so good, she can make a mediocre song like this listenable! After Star Wars in 77, everything was science-fictioney, even the Carpenters. This song was written by a "secret" group of Canadian studio musicians, but Karen takes it to a new level.

  • ┌∩┐ ◕_◕ ┌∩┐ to the 9 people who hit the dislike button i loved this since a kid my fav song :)

  • A dear being shared this on my new friend Neil's fb wall. This is truly a fantabulous vid. Carpenters were always on of my top 5 fave's; I miss Karen singing soo; These gems left for humanity are priceliess. Music is everything; we are everyting. With disclosure being pushed right now in our timeline; how appropriate for this Priceless gem to surface. NO accidents. Mr Spock (Love those pointy ears) ;-) Enjoy and share this liitle bit of magic. <3<3<3 XXXOOO

  • @demonhoopa

YesI agree! Klaatu for the win

  • I'm sorry for posting so much. but I'd say a Hella Lot more! believe me..

It truthfully sent shivers down my spine.

She was such an incredible woman. she truly embodied The Spirit and Beauty of everthing good in our world. through her music, an invisible but effective impact has taken place.May she Always continue to Inspire through her simple, yet elegant message. of Hope and of Peace!

"Goodbye dear Karen. May your wings flit again someday. for you truly were an angel in disguise"

  • .. I absolutely LOVE the 70's music. and The Carpenters were Ace! if Karen (rest her soul) was still alive, I Know She'd be running circles round these so called "Artists" today!

She was The perfect embodiment of a beautiful Songstress cross Angel. she really had that certain unmistakable vibe, and persona. she was and still is today, unreplacable and totes Original .If I could just bottle up the sheer magic she exuberates here so utterly Perfect. I'd treasure it for a lifetime!..

  • thumbs up for terrible blue screen job

  • I never knew they did this originally. I heard it on the TV show DUE SOUTH and on one of that show's soundtracks. This version is much better.

  • To boldly go beyond ... where no man has gone behind before ... lol!

  • & GONDOR WILL ANSWER

  • They will not hurt us. JUST THINK IF THEY WHERE HOSTILE THEN YOU WOULD BE FLOATING IN SPACE!

Ignor the news ingor stupid reports that say our friends are bad nooo a big no.

Please people wake up your world is round not flat!

We orbit the sun our star

    Please think

    I need your help

  • Hello Ssoko

Last time I adressed you I said there is no chance that we are alone!

The time for talking is over. I need your help and all of your friends to help with something that if we work it will make people realise we all bleed red blood the same with the fish and cows and sheep. We are a single race we are not alone in this universe. I need your help please. Lets say it has nothing to do with GOD for those god God faring folks. We NEED DISCLOSURE! NOW!

  • well cool song miss her voice tho :(

  • If i work hard enough on the physics and a way to contact these others, they can take me back in time and we can bring her back before its too late. Maybe they have the ability to cure such a thing. Karren has the voice of an Angel. If your watching Kaz, laters. ;)

  • Klaatu for the win.

  • This is much better than the original video, thanks man!

  • This is a very cleverly put together adaptationof an video!

    Absolutely love it!!!

  • OMGWOWu can't even believe...can't xplain...wow. omg. omg. u hav no idea what this song means 2 me. omg.omgomg...

  • OMGWOWu can't even believe...can't xplain...

  • I clicked onto this link laughing cynically that some idiot misquoted the title of the song........now I feel a prize idiot having seen it. As a lifelong fan of both Trek and Richard and Karen this is simply a treat. Thank you so much...this is going to the top of my favourites list

  • Is Karen C the best USA female singer of all time i think YES!

  • Beautiful voice and song! I miss Carpenters... and Star Trek too!

  • fascinating

  • miss carpenter may not of been an alien, but here voice was an out of this world gift.

  • Outstanding work. Thank you

  • Klaatu > Carpenters

  • Sisko this is top knotch

  • This should be on the radio/MTV now! This video and song is a great fit.

We need to go back in time, pick up Karen and destroy the auto tune machine!

  • This song is so awesome. I love all their music though.

  • terrivel perda para todos nós, que Deus tenha reservado um lugar especial para voce querida (karen) espero um dia te encontrar com ele será um dia inesquecivel

God Blees you... thank´s for all.

  • Her voice has the ability to touch your soul, no matter what the song.

  • great video who made this vieo it is nice

  • great video

  • What a great song have to do when i was a child but don't know what

    a big 10

  • @antoniustom This song still gives me the goosebumps, love the crescendo at the end with the big orchestra sound. It's in the same league as Space Odyssey by Bowie and Rocket Man by Elton.

  • When I was very young...around age 4 my mother would play this song for me before I went to bed and sometimes I would cry unless she played it over and over again. Now fast forward to 2010 and my mother passed away of cancer a few years ago at age 59. Listening to this song and watching the video somehow makes me feel a little bit closer to her when I am having a rough day. It is amazing how music can transport us to another time and place where things were much simpler....luv U Mom.

  • Very well done! LOVED IT!

  • Recently I contacted a childhood friend that I hadn't seen since 1978 when I was 12 and he was 9. Several times in our youth we created a fort in his room that we called "The Jazz Spacecraft". That was the first thing he said to me after more than 32 years. Within hours he found this video and shared it with me. We were both overwhelmed with joy!!! Our upcoming reunion be a continuing mission to seek out new life, explore strange new worlds, and go where no man has gone before!!!

  • @NelsPOlsen : What a beautiful story!

I'm glad that my video was involuntarily involved on it.

    Good luck with the projects!

  • @NelsPOlsen good for you dude :)

  • @NelsPOlsen good luck and remember the primedirective live long and prosper my friends.

  • excellent sound quality

    and good video

    Greetings

  • A lovely marriage of Star Trek and The Carpenters. You honor both franchises. I got warmies listening to this... :)

  • Gaydar isn't external. ; )

  • I loved this song when I was a kid and Star Trek was always my favorite show.

This is a cool video. It would have been even cooler if you had used only the 1966 Star Trek footage, especially the original Enterprise ship. The Next Generation ship takes away from the video and doesn't seem to fit in as well.

Would love to see this video with ALL 1966 Star Trek footage.

Thanks for posting, song has a great message.

  • I never liked this song. I thought it was too bizarre - especially from the Carpenters! However, 30+ years later I am amazed. Someone was ahead of their time back then and for them to choose to sing this... How appropriate at this time for this to be circulating again.

  • interesting.

  • Great montage!

  • I absolutely love this song!

  • Great song ..great voice

  • I've heard the remake, though I don't recall who sang it.

Nice to hear the original. Yes, Karen has been missed. She had a lovely voice.

  • This is a good music video, if you realize the origins of the Star Trek from from the Great Depression and World War Two where only 1 in 10 homes had electric power, and fewer had telephone, then you realize that Start Trek was the ultimate adventure and very popular with the new youth found in college. Good stuff.

  • I think I was about 17 the first time I heard this song. How bizarre is that?

I liked it the very first time I heard it. :-)

  • We must stand on our own two feet. But, the ground is shifting beneath us, the wind is picking up, others need our help to stand, some are trying to knock us down, and our legs get wobbly and eventually fail completely with age.

    Calling occupants of interplanetary craft!

  • Cooler than cool, just awesome.

  • N hope in this plsnet. We are doomed to die .So let´s enjoy this pretty music before we all get burned...

  • Here is a double blast from the past. Not only is it a tribute to the old Star Trek series it is made by the late Karen Carpenter.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very sad day when I heard she died; and how...a great voice

  • Cool! I never knew they did this.

  • We declare World Contact Day? Okay. 30 October 2010.

Glenn Beck et al are also invited. Bout time he and the rest of the Fox News Channel made land fall on Planet earth! Allegedly

Subject: BLOW UP - DEMONSTRATE FALSIFIED - FINN TOO NOD

Anagram: TWO MILLION POUNDS BENEFITS FOR A DAD OF TEN

  • a voice to break the hardest man, just spellbinding, love you karen xxx

  • Is that Gaydar at 4:25. I'm pretty sure that's Gaydar.

  • @biorgymd : yep... you're right. :-)

  • This is so freaking cool. Thanks for putting this together.

  • Beautiful. The shots of the Enterprise-D flyby became a little repetitive, but otherwise beautifully imagined and executed. Bravo!

  • Interestingly, Capt. Kirk and Karen had a prior connection. A young Bill Shatner, along with John Wayne and Zsa Zsa Gabor, were the judges who chose the "Dick Carpenter Trio" for the first prize on the All American College Show, an early American Idol-type TV talent contest. They had real celebrity panels back then! Wayne was so impressed with Karen he invited her to audition for the ingenue part in "True Grit." She didn't get the part -- thank goodness for music lovers.

  • so precise in her vocal, so perfect, goosebumps and hairs standing on end stuff indeed!

  • Fantastic work!!! Much appreciated as a KC and ST fan. Bueno bueno!!

  • A voice V sweet, beautiful Karen.

  • Klaatu rocks...!!!

  • first heard this at the end of Brian Coxs wondors of the solar system tv series was amazing show and this made it a really uplifting ending amazing song and sound from the carpenters

  • COOL! I never knew The Carpenters remade a KLAATU song!!

  • Wonderfull. Great work

  • Klaatu original Song.

  • This is beyond fabulous! I loved this song as a kid (even though I didn't understand what it was really about.) This pairing with Star Trek is genius. Great job!

  • Imagine if the aliens DID come asking to be taken to our leader,so they are taken to the White House to meet with the President... ALIEN:"I don't understand...I thought your leader was a beautifull dark haired earthling female with an incredible singing voice?" THE PRESIDENT "Oh,yeah...about that...."

  • I love Dr. Spocks, drag queen eyebrows! LOL!

  • is very excelent, i remember my parents and watch this movie in cinema

  • 7 of 9 is HOT @ 04:31 in this Video

it's totally out of the reality! wth! oO

  • we are they only ones who can save ourselves. Stop looking for answers outside of yourselfs. Man has created this mess by allowing Psychopathic individuals to rule us. Start taking control of your life and stop relying on big Daddy to come and save you. Cause Big daddy is only out for his twisted sick greed.

  • that was good. very well done.

  • Great post, SSOKO.

Two of my favourite things combined, Star Trek and the Carpenters.

    Well bone Buddy!

  • Thankyou for this. Awesome post :-) XXX

  • awesome 70's tune

  • Nice vid>>> I love the Carpenters ... this was a fun vid to watch. (all those who over think this vid need to stop being so negative).

  • If today's singers, (That's what they claim they are) had to measure up with Karen and a lot of others from this era to get a singing career, I think there would a few more pole dancers out there.

  • shame they dont make bands like this anymore!

today "artists" make me sick i'd rather listen to the rain

  • I saw the fingers on the piano weren't playing!

  • @karrie20x His finger were pressing the keys... but the scene has synchronization problems with the music even in the original videos. When I synchronized the piano, her lips and music were totally out of sync. So... I chanced it back again.

  • @karrie20x Just enjoy the music

  • @karrie20x Bullshit dude, Are you half blind

  • @karrie20x it's an old Jedi mind trick

  • Brilliant!!!

  • esta musica e das antigas gosto muito epoca que se fazia bailes nas garagens das nossas casas

  • Just LOVE this...it's AWESOME!!

  • @Buffalosharps

sorry flagged this down in error.

    she was amazing.

  • Very well done!

  • Pretty much the best thing ever.

  • saw it again and realized it's their album cover sweeping past behind karen at 2:07--whatever the synth sound, it's very nice with the image

  • Those are the tiny touches that make this video (the original) so great.

  • karen is so good you'd think she was commissioned by SETI--very professional melange of footage

  • @turquoise770: I completely agree with you. Can you imagine it? "Calling occupants..." Lol.

  • I just discovered this song by watching wonders of the solar system on bbc.

  • I love the carpentars, but thissong, this son gives me a whole new perspective on the love i have for Karen.

  • kLAAATU or carps - matters not one ion - - - the emotiion is the same- in my case warm feelings of time gonebyee..........

  • the original by klaatu is even bettter i think...

  • @waddoc In reality, the preference is subjective, for me this version is 70% better ... that prefer the orchestra instead of electronic noise and you can not compare the quality of the voices.

  • brilliant

  • Where is it? I'd like to see it!

  • Is Karen your favorite vocalist? If so, please go Google:
