I absolutely love the beginning of this routine. And also the middle and the end. On artistic level it is one of the best ever. The choreography is truly great!

I think she really was not just competing against her competitors but some weird conspiracy aimed at leaving her off the podium. She deserved better

Although I do like Anna, her routines to me were rather gimmicky and showy whereas Kanaevas were just beautiful classic rhythmic gymnastics, combining the skill of the ballerina with fantastic technique. Kanaeva won by a massive margin too; 3.5 points ahead of Zhukova!! Anna doesnt seem to perform with the consummate ease of Kanaeva and enough has already been said about her lack of back flexibility.

Ummmmm....... So I've always been an artistic gymnastics fan. And I know quite a bit about the sport. And I've recently been getting into Rhythmic Gymnastics. I just wanted to know why from what I've seen, theres so many random little events.

I've seen ball, hoop, clubs, ribbon, rope, 5 ropes, 3 hoops 2 clubs, 4 ribbons.

Is there any official list of events for rhythmic gymnastics? From the youtube videos it seems really random as to what is shown.

Wow gymnasts are usually not this tall. The perfect height is at most 165 cm because when you get taller than that it's very hard to do the good moves. Especially true for artistic gym. So I conclude: Anna's a real true talent to be this tall and still awesome. Splendor in its most magnificent.

@taylorswift091196 Actually rhythmic gymnasts are notable for their height; the Olympic Champion Evgenia Kanaeva is 5ft 8 inches tall; only 1 inch smaller than Anna. You dont see many rhythmic gymnasts under about 5ft 4 inches, which would be considered VERY tall for artistic gym. In rhythmic gymnastics, the emphasis falls on balletic movement and flexibility, also strength of course, where height makes no difference at all; in fact it ADDS to the aesthetics;)

@taylorswift091196 I think you've already been corrected, but being short is really only important in artistic gymnastics because it allows the gymnast greater ease in tumbling (it lowers the center of gravity and allows for lighter and higher tumbling, as well as adding less stress on the body). It's actually better to be taller in rhythmic gymnastics because it gives a longer, leaner line.
