Mr Max Kaiser, I am sure you have heard of Indymedia and its involvement in the battle over Diebold....please do not leave us out of the story. This story was one of the first instances of the internet taking a direct role in protecting Democracy against a man like George Bush.
Indymedia was the only server that could and would hold these files. I remember alot of very heavy lawyers attempted to get indymedia to remove these files.
Although Indymedia survived, the story did not. Bush was elected and the Diebold story was dismissed as a conspiracy story. It is interesting to see this massive story which was missed during the election but has now been proved to be true.

Diebold and ES and S control 80% of the electronic voting in the US. Diebold has had to pay massive fines for their faulty voting machines. No coverage of this in the major media. Why am I not surprised?
I will tell you why! I lived in a communist country (Yugoslavia) and I remember what I was thought in school 25 years ago. Communists not only here but throughout the world have ALWAYS claimed that:
1) USA and all the other capitalist countries have been controlled by the richest 1% elite (the capitalists) for centuries!
The richest elite controls the government, the parliament, the judicial system, the government agencies, the economic system, the domestic/foreign/economic policies of the capitalist countries. In other words they essentially own the countries.
2) the so called "free market" has NEVER existed but instead it is an ILLUSION which is carefully designed by the capitalists to DECEIVE the masses!
The idea is that the capitalists cannot openly tell the workers that they want to control their wealth and their means of production. Therefore they need an abstract thing, an illusion, and they call it "free market".
So when the worker loses his job/house/wealth he does not have anyone to blame (therefore he cannot rebel) since his loss is explained as the result of working of an abstract thing called the "free market".
However what the capitalists do not tell the masses is that according to the concept of the "free market" only richest people have ability to control the market, therefore EFFECTIVELY CAPITALISTS ARE the market. But people do not see that.
3) Fascism is a natural product of the capitalist system designed to protect capitalism from socialism/communism.
In the late 1920ies and early 1930ties (when UK was not threatened by Germany) Winston Churchill PUBLICLY praised both Italian fascism as well as German Nazism for their anti-communist policies.

But what DeGraw underestimated is the lack of the "real" power of the unions. For that reason DeGraw seems to me to be missing a root of the problem. If he is saying that this is not capitalism, then he really doesn't pay attention to the history, and have some ideological tail, as if he is critical of capitalism, someone will call him communist, socialist or whatever. But it is not about name calling it is about historical continuation, reappearance of the problem.
