His tank has depth so it probably is a 120. Personally, I chose to house my black arowana in a longer shallower tank and the most important thing for these fish is to have the length for them to swim. My tank is almost 6 feet long but it's only a 100Gal. It's not very deep but unless I'm keeping the larger arowanas or stinrays, I don't need the depth. The great thing about Black arowanas is that they can curl their bodies up when they turn out, so a lot of depth is not required.
i don't get how arowana's die from jumping out, I just got a 8 in silver aro and i always have my top closed, will i still need to put like a weight on it. Does the aro push up the glass or was ur top open?
My Uncles cross is the most active fish i have ever seen is it Like different personality(if that makes any sense) between the different catfish cos thats what it is like with cichlids?
@idle0095 hey man i have the same catfish currently but i was wonder if you had any tips for arowana care i want to try and raise one. I know the basics i just wondered if you had anything extra from experience.
try to get a larger tank. it might be 120gallons but it is no were near the length a Arowana needs. I am getting a 125gallon soon for $60! It has a crack in it so that is why it is so cheap but it's 6feet long. I am using it as a terrarium.
@yytboii i think maybe the mekong catfish or the large species of sturgeon have the aripaima gigas beat. but definitely in any private aquarium the gigas is boss
lol its not small if it was the fish would be dead they a kept in smaller places then that befor you by them ppl need to grow up its just a fucking fish
Well unfortunately you're wrong... fish CAN live in undersized tanks. Here is one example... a better one would be betta fish. They are kept in containers smaller than their bodies which is what causes natural curled-fin. Yes... an deformity as a result of being kept in an undersized enclosure. You need to grow up and graduate from elementary school. "It's just a fish" makes no sense to me. You wouldn't think "Oh I'm JUST a human" if you were being slowly murdered in a cramped box wouldja?
"You need to grow up and graduate from elementary school. "It's just a fish" makes no sense to me. You wouldn't think "Oh I'm JUST a human" if you were being slowly murdered in a cramped box wouldja?" thats ur down fall you cant grow up and see its just a goddamn fish you cant compare a fuckin fish to a human
you spend all ur time on the internet trying to seem smart to other ppl who dont give a fuck its not important its a fish its not on the news or anything else and thats why ur be ignored
people telling you to get a bigger tank are just jealous... it's better it housed in a 55 gallon, 100gallon or watever than in the 30 gallon tank housed with 10 other arowanas in the petstore!! Not everyone can afford a big tank or have room in their house to put a big tank. If they love the animal so much why don't they buy all those fishes in the petstore and release it in the wild during the dry season where it's gonna die anyway.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
no were not jealous we say that becuase most of us have owned these fish and know how big they get. if u cant afford it then why the fuck would u get it? a lil common sence goes along way. these are captive breed fish moron so they dont have the same aggresion, temperment, ext to live in the wild. plz know something about aquatics befor commenting on them because ur lack of infomation on this subject is amazing.
umm you can't even spell dude... sence is spelled sense and aggression has 2 s and also temperament you stupid ass lol. I'm pretty sure he knows they are captive bred and can't live in the wild, but he's just putting up an example that it's better people buy it and housed them in a bigger tank than leave it in the pet store where they are grouped up in a very tiny tank like 30 gallon stupid ass... read carefully than to put up a stupid comment about other people.
well it seems like ur just a lil bitch that wants a fight on the internet your so cool! i type fast so i dont care if its right its close enough for ur gay ass to get it so... and you prob have little to no knowlege on these fish or fish period. so is it ok if we put u in a cage cause ur a retard? didnt think so next time dont be such a prick on shit just for spelling k. if u cant take care of it you shouldnt own a pet. have a nice day
wow you're obviously a retard who makes stupid assumptions. I know more about arowanas, flowerhorns, redtailcatfish, tiger shovelnose and any other fishes you name it I know it! And I use to breed discus... Fish use to be my hobby and my dad have 3 ponds outside, but I rather stick with my 300gallon tank so I can look at them in the house. Yea I know... 300 gallon tank won't hold a 4 feet long arowana in the wild, but when you housed them at home they don't get that big you fagget!
u know more about them than who? thats great that u had a hobby besides being a sally on the net. i know u can stunt there growth, thats great that u have a big tank maybe u could care for this then. my point was already made and u disagree. thats fine but stop being a lil bitch if u can do that that would be great. you say i make assumptions when ur going on about knowing more about all of them and u got a 300 gal? that doesnt mean u know more but plz dont respond i could care less what u say!
you need a much bigger tank. What the fuck would you buy an Arowana for such a small tank. You do know that they grow over 48inches long. That is longer than the tank it is in.
regardless of the tanks actual size its still way too fucken small. also i dunno how you figure the aro is 30inch when the tank width is only 24inches? that aro would be lucky to be 20inches.
I love your arowana and what's up with your cross redtail shovelnose who looks depressed I think he needs a hiding spot..nice tank by the way but u really need an upgrade
ddue your ''tank'' of yours is way to small u prob got a lot of comments but tht catfish and arowana should ATLEST be in a 100gallon tank for it to be happy and normal
i agree, that aro ain't happy, tank is small as it is, plants get in the way, plus some tank mates he doesn't really care to share the small tank with.
your fish are awesome! your tank set up is awesome too. I'm getting a black aro also. However, since those fish are all over a foot, you need more than a 120. get a 300. seeing how everything is clean and the fish are healthy you probably are planning on upgrading anyway.
Nice Arowana and catfish. How much n often do you have to feed them? They seem quite flexible. Do u think they'll be fine in a 180 gallon for life?
