  • @LizRichieBand And Eric clapton is jesus? :P

  • @igSgtPepper overrated IMO, :) :)

  • @igSgtPepper i agreeeeeeeeeee lol i love him tooooooooo

  • BOC's pot shots at gays are nothing compared to The Meatmen!

  • @djmicrage Let's not go there

  • hey is this like a dvd or something cause i see a bunch of live videos of BOC and there wearing the same thing in all of them so i figured it was like a dvd if so could someone tell me so i could buy it

  • @zachwithacape : It's probably from the enhanced release of Some Enchanted Evening.

  • Blue Oyster Cult : The most under rated band in history.

  • @MaximvsDread agreed

  • THIS IS THE DAMN FEELING

  • Bloom is the coolest human male ever...

  • One of my favorite Cult songs, but this live version seems kinda neutered compared to the studio version. Maybe it's just the mix, but this coulda been crunchier! Stilll awesome, no doubt!

  • @thespookywolffe

That would be the fact that they cut off the solos.

  • Eric, bring back the fro, Eric rules!

  • @elitec21 lol

  • I miss him with the SG!!! I like his current one alot but this one has an ass kicking tone to it!!!

  • This music and it's kin were were spot on for the times. Still kick-ass to this day. S'funny if you listen to commercials on the TV what era most of the "jingles" are from. BOC always treated the fans to the best show, long and from the soul.

  • I have loved this band for 35-plus years, and I never get tired of them. Great, melodic hard rock with extremely evocative lyrics. To me, the darkness is a plus. Phenomenal band. Thanks for posting!

  • I was chatting with Buck and he mentioned that SG was stolen so Gibson made him a copy. He said it's an amazing instrument and will never see the road.

  • patti smith is not punk, for christ sake its just like when people throw the new york dolls in there. Yeah they were around and associating but its not punk. She was a washed up Beatnick art fag trying to ride the new wave of things since the whole hippy thing had died

  • I think it says "Yeah, from agents of fortune tonight ladies and boys this aint the summer of love!" Awesome song and awesome video.

  • ooh yeah. this i the shit right here.

bloom looks bad-ass, but anyone know WTF he says before the song starts LOL?

  • This song could use more cowbell too.

  • Trans mc was about altamont if ya listen to it imho.Buck was cool in his white suit he always wore in concert....untill Travolta stole his suit for Saturday night fever....Buck couldnt wear it after that disco stuff haha

  • alan played a pretty mean guitar too, beside the keyboards

  • Thanks for sharing this song!

  • BOC is unique since they have an excellent achive. Milk it, whores.

  • eric and jeff lynn look a like

  • i love how the drums here are recorded.

it seems that someone behind 'that 70s show' stole the look of a character from eric bloom.

  • Yes, and BOC was referenced on "That 70's Show" when Eric says to Hyde "I thought you said Blue Oyster Cult was the voice of the revolution."

  • watching/listening to Buck play is like watching Rembrandt paint.

  • You really made D's day! lol

  • I haven't read anything about this song, but I've heard it many times. It just hit me. Is this song about the 1969 Rolling Stones concert at the Altamont, in California? The Hells Angels declined to do security, but agreed to watch equipment. Things got out of control. Many were injured and 4 were killed. One guy was stabbed and kicked to death by the H.A. Many considered it, the end of the hippie era. Seems like the theme of this song. Listen to, "There ain't no angels above" Thoughts, anyone?

  • No, you're referring to Transmaniacon MC. This song is more of a cynical take on the hippy movement of the 60s.

  • Yeah, Transmaniacon MC does reference The Altamont. I was loosely associated with a quite a few bikers, back in the day and I would have to Say that BOC was definitely a favorite band of many bikers. What was the draw? Songs like Trans MC and Born to be Wild covers, WWII war references like Secret treaties or the hard sound and dark imagery of the early songs? Eric Bloom always looked like he just jumped off a bike, when he walked on stage. For a long time they were sort of a biker's band

  • Wrong--one was killed, was ruled justifiable self defense, a HA stabbed a black guy who pointed a gun at the stage--the gun was recovered.

  • Maybe so, but they definitely beat up several other people in different brawls. They were beating some asses with sawed-off pool cues. Jefferson Airplane singer, Marty Balin into it with the HA too. My brother knew a lot of HA in the 70s. He says, the HA story has the black guy showing his dick to some of the HA's "Old Ladies", which started that particular incident. Two people died in a hit-and-run, another person drowned and 850 were injured. So, obviously the HA didn't do all the damage.

  • I like to think it's about the year punk broke big, even if it's not. Patti Smith's "Ask The Angels" comes to mind. Meltzer and Pearlman were involved with the Dictators around this time too.

  • Yeah, I was wrong on that. Transmaniacon MC is the one about The Altamont and The Hells Angels. The more I read about B.O.C. the more I realize that the simple imterpretation of their lyrics is rarely the correct interpretation. I saw them many times and listened to them everyday as a teenager, but I'm just now beginning to understand their writing. I mean, come on! How many rock bands read poetry from Chile (wings wetted) down)? If you didn't know that how could you ever get that song right?

  • Yeah, and how many "metal" bands would? I think it's sad that the whole Imaginos project was never really completed.

  • Buck Dharma rules!

  • He certainly does!

  • boc boc boc

  • I have the whole video of this show...yeh the production values are ropey, but there's so little BOC stuff out there we have to thankful for what there is I guess. The 5 guitar jam is great, if eccentric...

  • Dude, would you post the 5 guitar jam?

  • The video doesn't come close to being there in person! Never Disappointed... :)

  • re4member the days

  • I don't want to sound like an ingrate (because I appreciate you posting this) but it sounds like they're playing a high school prom.

  • dude if proms had anything remotly like this today i'd go to proms all the fucking time

  • heard the guys in 1976-- they kicked ass-but lame guitar"QUEEROS" wouldnt know would ya? I am guessin you gomers are between 13 and 20 years old, i am 51, i am your fuckin daddy-andi will shove my 15-ee shoe right up yer ass, been playin the axe since 1968, so you pimply faced little shits get a life, or not! Yer choice! Any one can play a fuckin cowbell- its annnoying--so you fucks are all gay!!!

  • Holy Crap you sound like you just stepped out of a Stephen King novel. Pleasure to see you at work, sir.

  • @deckape1956

Hey, deckape, how about defending the honor of BOC, holding up the banner without taking potshots at gays?

  • 1967 The Summer of Love 1969 BOC records first album 1970 Black Sabbath S/T is released.Stuip fu*king hippie ideals crash and burn.Fast forward to 2008 and Hope will die and reality will set in in Nov.!Watch

  • Eh? You know the Hippy Movement's still around, don't you? And with songs like "Sweet Leaf", Sabbath seems rather like a part of it.

  • Pull this....they sound bad in this footage.

  • Yeah, this too was from "Live 1976". I never did think they did this song all that well live, but the "Agents of Fortune" track kicks ass. Look to this site for the live version of "Divine Wind". Excellent video, but more importantly, EXCELLENT audio. That is how "Live 1976" SHOULD'VE sounded. There are no comparing the two on that note(pun intended). As I commented on that video, seems it's a rare thing to find quality live BOC videos, but that one qualifies. Enjoy it!

  • Forgot to tell you, the live "Divine Wind" concert video is on page 11. Most excellent & turn it up.

  • Yeah, vocals sound bad. Looks like they filmed it onstage in an empty arena. Bloom's holding his ear...must have been bad monitoring. No crowd. (you can tell b/c there's no SMOKE...LOL!) Weird.

Music sounds good, though. Too bad it cuts off when they're jamming. God, these guys are good.

  • Nice, good call.

  • haha true true

  • Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell!

  • I saw them in Redondo Beach, L.A. in the 90s; Wow! They were all salt and pepper, but God did they rock out. 'Godzilla' was especially good that night!

  • Yeah it DOES cut off before "the 5 Guitars" get going, but it's on the "Live '76" dvd if you want to see it. If you want to hear the "real deal", listen to "ME-262" off of 1975's "On Your Feet, Or On Your Knees". That had THE "5 Guitars" going the last half of the song. Screamer.

  • This video ROCKS !!!! Another great one from B.O.C.

  • fuck! it cuts off just as the three guitar solo gets goin'!

  • Hell yeah!

  • yep u sound like u dont know shit lil bitch

  • custerslastarrow you are a big mutherfucker and have no idea 'bout music

  • "The Fleetwoods,Johnny Horton,The Browns,Rochelle & the Candles,Timi Yuro"

What? Are you kidding? Do you think that is more diverse than Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, and Frank Zappa? In fact, precisely because singles (45's) were so creatively narrow it spawned the age of AOR (album oriented rock). That was because there was a huge market wanting to expand *beyond* the narrow AM raido playlists of The Fleetwoods, Horton, The Browns, etc.

  • When I saw them back in 79 for the only time they kicked off thier concert with this one.

I'll always have fond memories of the Summer Of Love. The song and BOC that is.

  • Which summer is it?

  • Whaat?

  • Bad joke. Sorry. It's not even summer here, so I'll assume the rest...

  • don't know, but it apparently ain't summer.

  • Excellent question!!!! It was the Summer of 1976 (don't fear the reaper) and Urban blight ruled New York. Nearly 10yrs after the summer of love (1967). Check out Summer of Sam or The Bronx is Burning! That was the year punk was born !

  • Buck's solo's muddied up on this (sounds like he used an octaver). Not a patch on the stellar version on Agents of Fortune. But, this version has a different groove which is no bad thing for variety's sake I suppose.

  • payloa thats what happened

  • This song wasn't on "Spectres"!

  • Nope, 1st track on Agents of Fortune

  • I like the Imperial Dogs' version from '74 too.

Bloom needs to bring back the 'fro. And the stun guitar.

  • Eric must have been tired or something....he usually sounds better than this. Spectres rules...

  • imperial dogs did this song in 74

  • Hell Yeah!!!! BOC is like the first band that had really evil lyrics! They definantly dont get the crdit they deserve . . . but Metal dosent suck ya queer! Metal rules and u know it!

  • By all accounts, this band should be bigger than Kiss and Eric Bloom should host Rock School (or whatever that show is called). C'mon, what happened?

  • Everyone, please do what you can to help bring back 'flower power' for the 40 year anniversary of the 'summer of love' this summer.

  • Amen to that! Interesting choice of video to post this comment on, though....

  • The summer of love - what bullshit that was, eh.

  • Not to me. The quality of music has come steadily downhill since 1967's 'summer of love'.

  • It's been downhill since before then - the music from roughly '35 to '65 is probably the most diverse and best popular music ever. After the first couple years of the so-called british invasion, the music definitely began to suffer.

  • Well ...I think a better way to put it is that the music from that period(35-65) was the most innovative to which I would agree ( I would extend to 1978 however).

But you have to offer, as a caveat, the period was a period of electronic innovations as well.

Music and technology enjoyed a marriage that produced a renaissance that may not be duplicated for years to come.

  • I can agree for the most part - to me, the great thing about the '35-'65 time frame was that just about anything (rock, r&b, country, jazz, "exotica", calypso, easy listening, etc.) would appear in the top 100. Now, everyone seems to stay in their own little niche and you don't see a lot of crossover.

  • Absolutely Bob...I agree .

Crossover shows us that diversity is not usually a good thing.

Witness Fergie singing the Heart classic "Barracuda" .

I think what we can safely say is that Rock and Roll has been drained of anything new.

It has , as they say in Hollywood , "jumped the shark".

    Long Live Led Zeppelin! lol

  • Look at the charts of the late 50's to early 60's man,you had Del Shannon,The Fleetwoods,Johnny Horton,The Browns,Rochelle & the Candles,Timi Yuro -it was all different.Nowadays you have a lot of crap that sounds just like other crap.

  • You're kidding, right? I can only assume you must be in your 70s and unable to appreciate the great music post-hippie 1960s era.

The Golden Age of Rock was clearly mid-60s til late 70s. The Beatles, Stones, Doors, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Sabbath, BOC, Rush, Scorpions, Tull, UFO, Talking Heads, Genesis, Tangerine Dream, Elton John, Budgie, Pink Floyd...

that's just a SAMPLE from that era. Look closely at those bands listed...every one of them is UNIQUE...totally UNIQUE! Now the bands sound alike!

  • There has been bits of decent material after 1967 but the quantity of quality stuff has dwindled steadily, as far as well-known "music" goes that is. There has always been plenty of fine material if you dig hard enough.

  • Of course you have to dig. The stuff on the radio/MTV is all the commercial stuff, most of which is crap. The best music is that obscure stuff you never hear on the radio.

I used to have several thousand vinyl LPs, all 70s era. There were bands in there that most people have never heard of...absolute gems! I'm including these along with the mainstream bands I just mentioned. I thought music had dried up, but lately have been discovering a whole new world of underground music.

  • This is all subjective, of course! Just what do YOU consider 'decent' music? What you think is great music might be different from what I think is great music.

A good example is Judas Priest. Most people know them for their 80s hits like 'Breakin the Law' which is commercial CRAP, imo. Their early albums (up until 1980), and their latest, Nostradamus, were all masterpieces!

Same with Scorpions. OMG their 1st 5 albums were incredible!!! But never got any airplay.

  • Melodic, uplifting, soothing, relaxing, healing music is what i like, stuff like Joymany. Some darker material is alright but it has to be melodic, as in The Doors.

  • Ah, so that explains it. If you don't like anything any heavier than the Doors, then you wouldn't know about all the awesome heavy music that's out there. Nothing wrong with that. I detest rap & country, so I readily admit I'm not qualified to comment on whether there is any good rap or country 'music.'

It's really a taste thing as to whether there's good music out there...totally subjective.

  • I suspect that there is a lot of heavy, melodic music out there that you don't know about. For starters, check out Sonata Arctica. Very fast, intense, exhilarating music, yet lush and melodic, actually very beautiful, at the same time. Some of their songs are speed metal while others are ballads, so try a few songs before judging them. Their new album just got released today, but I haven't heard it yet. Their last 2 albums, Junia and Reckoning Night, are both masterpieces!

  • What is their most melodic album? If they were Kiss, the songs i'd want would be "Beth", "Forever", "Hard Luck Woman", "Do You Love Me?"

  • Comment removed

  • Start with Unia - their least heavy. ALL of their songs are still lush, beautiful and melodic, even while very heavy and fast. But Unia has a lot of variety and is less heavy. If you like that, then go to Reckoning Night, which is their best album, imo.

To sample them first, search youtube for 'Replica' or 'Shamandalie' which are both ballads...then move on to 'Gravenimage / Don't Say A Word - Sonata Arctica' in the search box - starts slow then speeds up - one of their best songs!

  • I just scanned through 4 of their albums, including the one you think is best. Their musicianship is impressive but the stuff is too dark for me. I like material that uplifts my mood. That stuff increases tension, for me. I realize it will affect others differently.

  • Thanks for the consumer advice. I've got a weak spot for hard melodic rock, so I'll check out Sonata Arctica.

  • @written12 Check out Angra also, or even Kamelot

  • If Blue Öyster Cult excels at anything, it's melody

  • Good point, many of the heavy metal bands first albums were their best, like "fly to the rainbow" or "lonesome crow" from Scorpions....

  • Really? You dont rate In Trance or Virgin Killers? I think that albums like those, or even Lovedrive and Blackout are just as good as Lonesome Crow, certainly different in style, and perhaps not to your taste but you cant fault the strength of the songwriting or musicianship.

  • While I prefer early Priest and I think its a pity many people only know them for Breakin The Law, calling that particual track "commercial crap" is both unfair and plain wrong, Priest have always mixed more catchy or melodic tracks with their heavier and progressive material, and that just happens to be one that got a lot of airplay. Its not their best, its not even the best on British Steel, but in no universe could it be called crap.

  • Good point. Not even Priest's "commercial" tracks deserve to be disparaged- at the same time we should steer people to their much less heard work.

I mean, a band such as Judas Priest can do catchy and melodic tracks with integrity and power.

  • The greatest era in music history so much talent so many true musicans from the time and doubt we will ever see anything like this again

  • @fuzzleredmenn

Goofed and gave ya a neg instead of a '+'.

Your comments are on the money. Sorry.

  • No problem my friend!

  • Agents of fortune is one of the best lps of the 70s

  • Absolutely, and one of the most overlooked.

  • Fuck Ya!

  • This is great!

  • I dig these guys- most metal sux imo (hey im ducking already) but this is so funny- burnin for you, dont fear the reaper- a very decent rock band, and very kinda tongue-in-cheek funny! I saw them abt this time w/ the N.Y. Dolls and Jeff. Starship featuring Papa John Creech at Winterland- great show- unforgettable.

  • AWESOME !
