Carnival Fascination Cruise - March 19, 2011 Part 1

This is a total trip. We were on this same cruise last year and watching this video, my family and I are seen walking off the ship into Nassau Port at minute 6:21. What are the odds?

I've been on this cruise ship twice! Its so much fun!! When you go to nassau go to Atlantis!!! Well worth the money even though it's kinda steep in price

@jobrofan123 I enjoyed this trip, but I dont like the ships in this class. they are small and old. I prefer the newer, larger ships! The Carnival Glory was awesome, and I have high hopes that the Dream is going to be amazing (if we get to go on that cruise).

Is the basketball court still on the ship? What time did you board the ship, I have to leave right from school and was wondering how long is the wait to get on the ship?

How was the weather down in the bahama's when you got there?

@boyscouts83712 I dont remember seeing a basketball court. We boarded the ship around 12PM the ship left the port at 4PM. Its a pretty long line if you're not a VIP. We try to always get to the terminal as early as possible so we arent at the end of the line!

Did you try the seaside theater, and what excursions did you do? What does picture window mean? What deck was your cabin? Is it worth it to get off the ship in freeport and what there actually to do?

@boyscouts83712 we didnt try the seaside theater. We actually didnt do any excursions, we just got off the ship and explored on our own. I'm not sure what a picture window is. I think its a window without an ocean view (deck). We had a fake window with curtains in our inside cabin. I dont really think its worth getting off the ship in freeport. We weren't supposed to go there, we had to because the weather was too bad to go to half moon cay. Shopping and beach at port lucaya in freeport.

Going on this cruise 11/3/11, never been on a cruise or any vacation. I hope we have to wait and my vacation gets extended a few hours. Ship looks good

Be aware that the Dames Point bridge blocks the Fascination. Your trip will not get underway and not end until low tide. Look at Google Earth. Upon returning, Fascination docks at the cargo terminal and may sit for seven hours. We did not get off it until 3:30 PM. Jacksonville must move the terminal to the ocean side of the bridge. Come to Charleston, SC and get on Fantasy. No bridge blocking, leave and arrive promptly.

@joesomebody1986 Oh yes Joe, it was awful got on at 3 pm. Didn't leave until dark at 8:30 on Oct. 6, returned Monday at 6:30 am., on Oct 10, 2011. Docked at the cargo terminal and did not move until 12:30 pm to go under the bridge again. Got to Jaxport at 1, did not get off until 3:30 pm. If you left on time and got back on time you are very, very lucky. You must have hit the low tide exactly right.

@Ncharlestun well we went in March with absolutely no problems. We were told we would depart at 4 and we did. We were told we would return around noon and we did...Sorry to hear about your troubles. It must be a seasonal thing.

@joesomebody1986 Hello Joe, I just now looked at the Jacksonville tide chart. What it is there is a three hour wait after high tide to go in or out. If you are within three hours as the tide comes in you will wait that time plus three hours on the back side of the high tide. You were moving at the right low windows. Ship and food was good. We were in the bad storm last Saturday night until Monday morning getting back. 20 foot swells, 80mph wind. Did not go to Freeport. Bad timing on everything

We are going on the Fascination this October. We were on a few years ago before the renovation. That sucks that the basketball court is no longer on the ship. The video quality looks really good. Thanks for the info.

The Pilot boat is picking up the Pilot, some ports have these pilots that work at the port when you have a tricky and narrow passage in and out they take you out to sea and then the "pilot boat" comes and picks him up.

Hows the food? How about the trip overall?

@nls8520 The food was good, but not as good as the food on the Carnival Glory when i was on it in 2007.  The overall trip was good. I prefer a newer and bigger ship and a 7 day cruise...but for the money, we really enjoyed our cruise.
