i agree - if we can 1) private them. 2) chose WHO can see them from a list. 3) chose what people can do - comment, rate, etc. & whether or not it can be embedded... then It's OURS to do so with, b/c they ARE ours... not theirs. this isn't Meta Cafe where they pay you for views... so unless you're a partner (ahem) your vids are your own - hence why we get in trouble for music that isn't ours - b/c we're "Claiming ownership of contents by posting it" right? duh. sheesh.
All your videos are belong to us. That is so old. *laughs* I should look up the original video that line (sort of) came from. All your base are belong to us is what it was called.
It really is no different then letting someone else embed your video in their webpages. If you don't want them to do it just specify not to allow embedding.
On that note I wish youtube would allow only us to embed a video to domains we list but no one else can. I don't think that is available yet.
blackcat2enterprises = "On that note I wish youtube would allow only us to embed a video to domains we list but no one else can. I don't think that is available yet." AH HA! Good idea!! :)
If you remove the embedding feature on your video, would that also remove it from anybody who has used the embedded code on another format such as blogs or slide show?
I think some youtubers want as many views and subscribers as they can get so they allow embedding because it brings people to their YT account.
Can someone use a video without the embedding code enabled? That would be upsetting.
I think the one thing you can do when you upload a video to youtube is check off the embed feature. I think that turns off the embed code for other sites. I usually do that when I post videos with my friends or family who aren't on YT for their privacy sake. Not sure if this is the same.
The shitty thing is, if we use music that we bought in the background, WE can get in trouble for copyright violation...but they are allowed to do that? How messed up are our rights?
I wonder if we choose to not to let external sites embed our videos, if they can still do that. That feature is available on the edit feature of each video. Otherwise, once we put our videos up here, they're pretty much up for grabs!
All your basic rights are belong to us. GAH!

We still reserve the right to be pwned.

All vloggers are endowed by their Website with certain inalienable rights...among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of pwnage.

Some vloggers are more well endowed than others.

Unfortunately being a partner doesn't mean getting paid for view. You only get paid for clicks on ads, which doesn't happen very much :)

you have to be kidding me!

Youtube i allowing it. I don't care for it, but I doubt anyone would ever use one of my videos for such a thing.
boobtubious 3 years ago
But, even if it's embedded in slideshare, I think you still get the views, since it's embedding from the source.

True.

Good question. I dont think this function has anything to do with the embed feature.

No, it doesn't work like that.

In this case I don't think they use the embed feature.
