  • please post more if you have them. I am an artist today because of him - Thank you ever so much for this.

  • wow those were the days..I think Jasper said "scupper my uppers" and wow..remember herkimer kiwi, and the adventure they had going to machu pichu? thanks for making me remember

  • Ch. 5 was still airing tapes of this show into the 1980's. Hope they haven't erased 'em.

  • LOL....WOW.....I grew up watching Capt. Bob! Loved it! Although my sketches never came out like his.

  • My mum still has a ton of my Capt. Bob drawings! After my uncle died recently they found a panda that I drew with him CB. I messed and erased his head so many times I had to put it on a separate sheet of paper, cut it out and scotch tape it onto the head.

I looked forward to Capt Bob every Sunday am.

'Scuppah my uppahs' I remember from an extended episode about some cartoon character he created, which strayed from his typical animal and landscape subjects.

  • @BlurryBear I think (can't prove) it was "scuttle me uppers" - that was what Jasper said in moments of stress, and he said it a lot, on the old Capt. Bob. pre-Nature World show. It's fisherman talk, I guess.

  • I never knew this show was in color! I loved this show more than any cartoon and still have the flounder I drew from one of Captain Bob's shows. does anybody know if there are other episodes that have survived? Thank you so much for posting this

  • Thank you, Thank You, Thank You .... I can't wait to share this with my daughter

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. I've looked for clips of this show for years because it was such an important part of my childhood. I used to get up before the sun every Saturday just to watch this show and draw with Captain Bob. I have very fond memories of those early mornings, silent house, all alone with my paper, pencil, and Captain Bob! I would love to see this show air again!

  • I used to love his show!

  • Dear Pebey,That same theme music was also performed on the 1960's version of NBC TV's/Hanna & Barbera's"Ruff & Ready Show"..which "Capt.Bob"Cottle hosted from 9/22/1962 to 9/1964.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. It's even better than I remember from grade school. He's most likely one of the reasons I've got a BFA now. Too bad there's no DVD set.

I still have a polar bear drawing I did with him back in the day.

  • I think I was taught more from Capt. Bob than from 12 years of public schooling.

Like someone stated below, re-run this show today. Then maybe we won't have so many idiots running around. RIP Capt. Bob you were the best and an incredibly talented artist.

  • THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I have been searching for episodes of this show for years!

  • As a kid, I remember this, as well as every other episode of this show. I was so mad when they stopped airing the show. I sent my drawings in and always hoped to see it hanging in his studio, as he would show them every once in awhile. Captain Bob taught me how to draw and educated me as well. I can hear his theme playing in my head now, as the show started and ended each week. Awesome, awesome memories!

  • I wonder how many people are working in art related fields because of shows like this?

  • THANKS FOR POSTING!!! This is great. I remember watching this back to back with Jabberwocky for years as a kid, first thing in the morning on Saturdays, before anyone else got up. Crunch Berries goes perfectly with this show. ; )

  • Greets from Japan ! Loved Captain Bob as a kid in CT !

  • I loved Captain Bob. watched him every Saturday morning! I wish they would repeat his show for a whole new generation.

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I loved this show. Do you have the introduction anywhere?

  • You Rock! Thank you so much for this memory.

  • Every single Saturday morning, parked in front of the tv with every broken crayon I could find. Awesome video, thanks for posting it!!

  • Dude, No Way. I watched this religiously when I was a kid. I sent my drawings in hoping to see them on his wall and stuff. If I were to have to draw an eagle to this day, I would draw it like I saw on Captain Bob. great post

  • Cool, thanks for posting this, I watched this faithfully as a kid and you brought back a lot of good memories for me.
