I'd have to say that I do consider the golden age of anime, especially robot anime, to be the early 80's, I can see where your boyfriend is coming from. Most of my favorite shows were indeed produced between 1981-84. But of course, there is good stuff after...Zeta Gundam is 1985, for one.

By the way, the name of the song is "Itsumo Anata ga" by Tetsuro Oda. Ever since I found an MP3 version of it, I haven't been able to stop listening to it. Not to sound too sentimental or anything, but it's probably one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
