I have never heard this version of events told before. The U.S. supplied Arabs with their military technology, but you claim the U.S. refused to even sell their technology to Israelis?
I don't know what your sources are for this belief, but then you have to explain why the USS Liberty allowed Israelis to bomb it for hours while not doing a thing to defend itself against them.
That hardly, hardly sounds like the U.S. was indifferent to them at that time.
MrCropper; excellent video. You are largely on target (I say this as someone with over 10 years of experience firsthand with the Israel-Palestine conflict)
However, you say in the video that individual rights come to us from the ancient Greeks. Didn't they and the Romans hold slaves? Wasn't the enlightenment era concept of universal rights of man derived largely from Christian concepts of man as reflection of the divine? Look at the Declaration of Independence with it's reference to a creator.
" Wasn't the enlightenment era concept of universal rights of man derived largely from Christian concepts of man as reflection of the divine?"
Um, no. Where did you hear that load of bull? The Enlightenment was a rebellion AGAINST Christianity, a revival of Pagan values and Hellenic civilization.
"It was more of a rebellion against the Church as an institution. There was no Christ bashing as part of the package."
They may have been rebelling against the church, but some of the best of them generalized it to all religions, and it is to those men that we owe our thanks for the Renaissance. Think of Spinoza here, and Galileo and Regiomantanus. I know Galileo was a confessing Catholic, but he had no choice, and I think he was an atheist.
In fact, if you accept the defintion of a philosopher in the Socratic/Platonic sense, then it is certain that Ayn Rand does not fit this definition and can therefore not rightly be called a philosopher. One could call it "Love of One's Own Knowledge" NOT "Love of Knowledge."
Every state has a statist ideology - when a non-statist society is unavailable, it makes sense from a tatical point of view to side with the lesser of two evils.
America is bad, the Arabs are bad, the Muslims are bad, but Israel is GOOD...
Does that just about sum it up? You see until you're able to discuss this topic with a degree of introspection and self-evaluation you will not be taken seriously by anyone you hope to persuade. I personally feel that it was a mistake to recreate the state of Israel in in the Middle East. They should have given the Jews a homeland FAR AWAY from the Arabs. Look at the trouble it's caused.
I disagree ... although it is kind of cute, to look your hypothetical mambo jumbo. Striped of all emotional content and simplified to math problem for 2nd grade children. It is also at the same time a transparent par excellence ego-pump. Simply put it is not a subject to talk about in such manner, it is a tragedy caused by human psyche, massive termination of individual consciousness, hardly a place to claim intellectual high ground.
I favour the one-state solution, with one army, one economy, a western-style secular government with equal rights, free markets/free trade, and human rights, with Jerusalem as the capital, and disarm all militant groups.
When my Grandpa was hospitalized in 1990, his neighbour was a terrorist that was injured in a foiled attempt.
As for execution on the spot by the police...
It happened in the 80's when terrorists took over the infamous route 300 between Tel-Aviv and Ashkelon. 2 were killed during the take over by commandos, two were executed shortly after... it was a big scandal with a few politicians falling from grace...
Point is, in Israel, several politicians (who were not directly involved) and several high up internal security officials were suspended and their careers destroyed for essentially killing a brutal murderer.
I think few know that Israel declared itself a state before the UN, if my memory serves me correctly when I looked at this issue - I could be wrong but I doubt it.
Anyway philosophically and historically there's a long path before the six day war with regards to individuals in this jurisdiction engaging in commerce and industry versus the barbarism around them. The concept of a real estate zone or a geographical area with regards to land only really comes into existence with civilization.
When the Arabs take land, it means that they steal it. When Israel takes land, it means that they liberate it. After that land is part of Israel, the laws of Israel that respect individual rights then apply to that land and its inhabitants, and make them more free than if the land still belonged to any one of those Arab states. That is what gives Israel the right to take more land.
As someone who was born in Israel I can tell you that up until the criminal PA came into existance there was no border, no checkpoints, no blockades... Gazans for example benefited from both a healthy tourism and services sector based on trade with Israelis.
ROFL, you mean economic exchange in a free market? Well yes if free trade is extortion then yes. If up is down, black is white, and right if left then sure you can prove just about anything.
What does the House of Saud give the West in exchange for the money it receives?
We provide the science, the drilling, the refining, the transportation, and the market for the oil that they didn't even know existed until we discovered it.
What, besides threats not to steal or destroy what the West created, do they offer?

liar, USA supplied masses of wepons to the Zionist regime
even NAZI Guns were supplied,!!
TruthLogic 2 years ago
Prior to the six day war little american weapons arrived... each arms sale to Israel was also countered with a similar deal with an arab state.
However, the older Israeli Shermans made easy meat out of the newer Jordanian Pattons (which had an external engine which ignited easily).
Most Israeli fighter jets were French made (France was no longer supplying Israel by this time however).

"You are too arrogant to be a philosopher. Period."
You've clearly never read Nietzsche nor Rand. With such a small idea of what philosophers are like, you'd do well to read more, preferably Ayn Rand.
MrCropper 2 years ago
I have read Nietzsche (in the original German) and Ayn Rand. Yet, that does not mean that I have to accept their definition of what a philosopher is.

It is not (be definition) philosophy.

What were the rights involved in the creation of Israel in the first place?
You hope they let the terrorist die if he just blew himself up?
No, if they can they will save him to interrogate him
How the "palestinians" can teach in a progressive way or even power themselves inside a blockade?
Take more land? According to what rights?

So in exchange for oil the Saudis act as a bit of a buffer between us and Iran?
Would we need them to if the Iranians weren't appeased by the Russians just as we appease the Saudis?
Would the Russians be able to appease the Irans if the Americans hadn't appeased the Soviets?

Considering Israel has no natural resources of any significance, I think it can be considered a miracle of sorts.
The current PM has pledged to strengthen the private sector while trimming the public one. History shows that he always sticks to this promise.
