I like this show; funny, entertaining and with a beautiful message. I wish they had continued beyond season 1. By the way, dionjuneijeh, I didn´t know it was based on books. I read somewhere the aliens are a metaphor for Hispanics, who at the time were starting to get to the US in big numbers.

I don't think it's "gay" at all. It's not disturbing, either. What they did with this scene was show that there ARE other ways of looking at things. With Newcomers, the males carried the kid. That's how it is with them, Them. Not us. And the laying together wasn't out of love for each other, or any sexual reasoning; it was because there was a child that needed body heat. Grow past the immaturity of modern society, and revel simply in the fact that this scene was a magnificent bit of sci-fi.

@XilianX2010 1. The guy in question is not human, so naturally they way they reproduce is not the same as our way. In their species the female carries the fetus half the pregnancy and the male carries (in a pouch like a marsupial) during the last half. The scene showing the transfer from female to male is available too. But you won't like that either because it's different from humans. 2. Who the hell put you in charge of deciding what guys should or should not do?

@XilianX2010 There are 3 genders. The female is "prepared" to become by the 3rd gender. The baby is then conceived pretty much like humans. She carries the fetus for part of pregnancy, then it goes to the dad's pouch, (check out the "pod" transfer too video too). In this case the baby was premature and the dad's best friend had to help him get her out of the pouch. The level of Immaturity in the human comments on this video is stunning. I remember this episode! I was 11 years old at the time of this broadcast. I was heavily into UFO and Aliens and I loved Alien Nation. When I saw the commercials where Detective George Francisco (played by Eric Pierpoint) was going to have a baby, this WAS the episode I had to see!!!!

How many seasons did this show run and where can I find them? I thought the show was only on one season?

There was one series (89-90) with about 13 episodes. The pilot episode is almost as long as a feature film. There's also 5 TV movies (basically double episodes) made in the 90s that directly follow on from the series. You can find the entire package on Torrent Sites. ITs around 8Gbs. Hope this helped. Its a great show!
