Motion Capture will never supstitute real animation. All it does is mimic reality (and so far poorly). It doesn't take acting further or hold it back appropriate to the core of what's being said and felt.

You'd be suprised how much work goes into "cleaning up" mo-cap for games and films to make it understandable and appealing.

The problem is that there's simply not enough capture. So much empty space that could be marked. As soon as we see mocap not needing the big suit, perhaps something...markable. Like dots you could draw on.

It would make it tons easier for cgi animators, at least on facial animation. Because once this technology is perfected, they wouldn't have to waste their time on facial animations, instead it would happen in real time and as the voice over actor says their lines. Neat stuff.
