Sry, but... what a journalistic piece of sh**. Gosh, ABBA were THE stepstone from standard chord-progressions into musical freedom, the results of which we still here today. Turn up your radio! As much as I love the Beatles...ABBA's contribution was just as great. '´FOR THEIR MUSIC WAS NOT TO BE USED IN THE MAKING OF THIS FILM'...??!! Rings a bell, with all you thinking people? Imho, this thing (film) is...rubbish.
what rubbish, she`s had to deal with some horrendous blows but she buttoned up her coat, turned up her collars and struggled through the wind, rain and anything else life`s storms have thrown at her like the class act she is.
i`d like to take this opportunity to thank that german soldier and norweigan lady for bringing such a beautiful soul who has made millions happy into the world.
plenty of f##ked up things happened during WWII but anni-frid lyngstad coming into the world wasnt one of them.
Let me guess. The secret of Frida is that her father was a German soldier stationed in Norway? Oh the horror. Seriously. It's war. Soldiers and civilians are just people trying to make it through alive. And along the way a bit of companionship is welcomed. We're all humans in the end, no matter what "side" we are on in a war. This documentary makes it sound as if this is some sort of crime, that her father was German. Dear Lord...
The authors of this piece are low rent garbage merchants. Cudos to ABBA management to deny the authors permission to use their music. Richard Carpenter would be proud!
This is ridiculous. Frida found it hard to cope with the media? And she had a 'dark secret'? At least in one interview she told the story of her father, what the Hell with you people?
No wonder ABBA refused to let them use their music.
This is over the edge... It´s not intended to be what it actually was intended to be, this stupid film, that´s it. Norway IS the country, the one that actually made resistance for fucks sake...
Anni-Frid Lyngstad (Russe; also Hasse/Fredrickson/and Andersson) has gone through so many changes in hair and appearances that she's almost the female David Bowie!
OMG, what ist that - this documentary sniff in Frida's very privat live - and no doupt about it - every real ABBA fan knows that her father was german - to be german mean NOT to be a NAZI - how cretinous! This is a pille of shit!!! I ADORE FRIDA - she is an absolutely marvelous person! "DARK" secret? shitty remark!

agneta was the quiet shy one that said nothin in interviews at times come on seriously im gonna watcha ll this too see what more their getting mixed up
And to be real blunt, if Frida was a love child of a German soldier occupyer and a Norwegian farmgirl occupyee, THEN at least ONE real good thing came out of WWII.
The autobahn (the very first motorway in the world)
Nobody has the right to denounce germany when every country as behaved badly over the years.i think people are just jealous because the germans do things bigger and better.and i am british
Yeah...at 6:09 the narrator says "Edginton (biographer) had struck gold" in media parlance, that means he dug up some dirt or controversy that gossipy types need to know about, and which hurts the celebrity, which makes the biographer a lot of gold (money).
No child, including Frida, is responsible for who there parents are, and despite accusations by some, Frida's Dad was a regular German soldier, NOT a member of the nazi party, the SS, and his uniform which I have seen, demonstrates that.
Frida was and is a goddess. End of story. she has nothing to do with where she came from. She can't help it. no one can. Doesn't change anything as far as I'm concerned. I always have and always will love ABBA.
I agree. Describing Frida as the 'shy introspective one' doesn't make sense at all. She always presented friendly and full of life and energy. Agnetha was the one who was supposed to be the 'shy' one. The only good thing about it are the photos and film footage. It's better to read the book "Bright Lights, Dark Shadows' which goes into quite a lot of detail about Frida's personality. Edington doesn't know what he's talking about.
Nothing to be ashamed of at all. 15 million germans were conscripted in WWII. Not all of them were like Hitler or Himmler and the majority were not even Nazi's. Theres a shot of Frida's father in uniform and its not SS, so why the hell do they go on about Lebensborn which was purley SS!
Its sad to see this mascurading as historical drama, not to mention the way the interviews are edited to make Frida sound like the "dark one".The people that made this are the dark/evil ones, slandering people.
This is just another perfect example of the media attempting to blow up a HUGE story from something out of nothing!! Yes, of course it's sad about Frida's father. But come on, people have kept much bigger secrets about their personal lives. What's the big deal here? I wonder how much Tony Blackburn (Mr Wiggy) got paid for appearing in this documentary?
It's all about cheap tv and making money out of fuckall ^^
Agreed, the framing of Frida's past as a secret is pathetic, particularly the teasing way the viewer is strung along before something concrete is actually said. The characterisation of Frida too as brooding and introspective is an exaggeration moulded to suit the "dark" story.
To give Harry Edgington his due, his 1976 (?) biography on ABBA was a well-researched, thoughtful short book, probably the first to write about Frida's origins in careful detail; the Frida chapter opened the book.
Pathetic attempt sensationalise Frida's life. Typical rubbish. A lot is true but it's the way it's made out to be some kind of dark secret that riles me. Tony Blackburn should know better than to call Agnetha 'Anita'.
the secret is quite stupid. nothing to be ashamed of. Frida was born in norwegian where her mother got involved with a married german officer just after the war. so frida a child who came from a german who's directly connected to the war. you understand why it was such a scandel? but not for the fans who love frida because of her character and singing capabilities. and we're supposed to love her for that :) love ya frida
Well said, I wish this bad stuff wasn't shown at all. Abba were a nice group that brought happiness to our lives, they should be left alone by cheap tv progs.
Found this "docu" again.Really hate this! What a wonder, why they did not let them use ABBA:s music on this!
