  • Drive is so bad...

  • This was pretty funny, actually...especially the jokes about her driving. She may not be able to drive better than a 5th grader, but she drives better than I can...no offense to April.

  • lets put sarah palin on the show.

  • I don't remember this crap cause they jammed my head full of AP Calculus. Put some of those questions up and gimme a million dollars.

  • oh god... she doesn't know the difference between a past tense verb and an adverb....

  • wtfffffff drove an adverb????? its a fnk verb how can it be an adverb?.... i am french and i knew that answer.... wowwwww what an idiot!

  • Jacob's a beast.

  • She's "kind of" an anthropoid...

    Admire the honesty.

  • OMG! I knew the answer to the 3rd grade grammer :) I'm smarter than a 5th grader and I'm in 4th grade xD

  • @CaliKiitty thats just one question n why r u on youtube when ur 10

  • @uaman11 Because I'm alowd....

  • @CaliKiitty not rly

  • @CaliKiitty "Grammer"? Oh the irony... but I'll cut you some slack considering you're a 4th grader and most kids your age can't really spell well.

  • @natti49 xD

  • @CaliKiitty you knew ALL the answers? also those from the 5th graders category?

  • DUMB BITCH :D

  • Why does she laugh every 5 secounds like a retard

  • ape-ril lol

  • "I know, I'm not an antropoid"

    Who had any doubts?

But she's rather cute for an alien bipod walrus from the outter space -:)

  • where can i sign up for this show i would win a shit ton of money on it!

  • Athropoid made me thinking of an Android, like Data from Star Trek LOL

  • drove is definitely a verb

    sometimes americans are stupid too

  • @DarklingX It says that we're headed towards some dark times. Dark times indeed...

Oh btw, way to respond to a 14 month old comment, lol. English is a very easy language to learn/speak, it was back then and it still is now.

  • I think the problem with this is: 'Are you smarter than a 5th grader?' - she isn't smarter than a fifth-grader because she can get the answer wrong and the kid can bail her out. So even when she isn't smarter she can win. I want my money back (although not our colonies - you can keep those).

  • I'm not saying americans are stupid.. But the easiest question on the british version is a lot harder than the million dollar question on this.

  • Those last 2 kids are full of smug. The way they talk shows they are full of them selfs which actually for me just makes them seem really stupid. Especially that boy!!!!

  • Watching this show makes me want to cry for this country.

  • wtf is wrong with her! and she thinks she's good at grammar?

  • lol she has an interesting way of thinking.

  • I wonder how they screen who gets on the show and who doesn't get on the show.

  • If someone with half a brain went on this show, they would easily win the $1 million

  • Yes but who would watch a smart person, win? I wouldn't.

  • they had yale students on who lost... so really that "Half a brain" thing isnt that true.

  • A verb can't be an adverb.

  • DROVE?!?!?!?!?!

  • Booahaha u r rich ape and she goes I know!!!

  • The reasoning is flawless! XD

  • Does "anthropology" ring a bell?

  • Yes. Thank you.

  • where do they find such stupid people

  • Stupid is an adjective...ha, ha, ha.

  • Drove is a verb and i laughed so much when she said drove

  • i said drove is a verb, dumbass. haha.

  • wat channel is this on if u have dish network

  • what a moron!

  • if she said copy then she wouldve won $10,0000

  • o.O The question about "Yesterday, Kyle drove his dad's car"

wtf? im in 7th grade, and we learnt that NOW. (in norway.)

  • I didn't learn what an anthopoid was in fourth grade...

  • This is alot easier for the 5th graders, they have learned this more recently.

  • That's kind of the point.

Supposedly, as you grow older, you become smarter ... as shown on the show, this is not always the case.

  • This is just memory, "common" knowledge... has absolutely nothing to do with smartness or intelligence.

    Smartness is making right choices...

Intelligence is just pattern & conclusion making between things.

Rather, if they asked you questions which you could get to by logical conclusions then it would differ... but no doubt that these Americans would fail at that too...

  • zomg....

  • "I personally believe" l'm a spanish speaker, however l had to learn what an adverb is... on basic school, and even after university and master degree, l know what an adverb is... the thing is this show probe how some people just doesn't care about general culture, not to mention things going on out there of the U.S. , however this doesn't happen only on the U.S. it happens everywhere... and this doesn't mean that all the people is as dumb as miss south carolina... o kelli priker...

  • Where do they find these people?

  • "it have to do wiht verbs" LOL

  • I would say that she is not smarter than a 1st grader :) looooool

  • Jacob rocks.

  • lol

  • show should be called, "Are You Stupider Than A Fifth Grader"

  • yeah, I like doing things from myself

  • Also, I think that animal question was a cool, becuase It was meant to trip you up, in that if you confused Anthra as in anthapogenic and arthra as in arthrapogenic, as the average american could, you may be fooled into a wrong answer.

  • yeah, arthra as in arthrapod...need to be careful when copy and pasting there.

  • I can see why she would think that, because unless you remembered exactly what the word meant, I guess you could logically think that an adverb is a verb that acts like an adjective, in other words the word drove is technicallydescribing what happened to Kyles car. Under the pressure of national TV i can see why someone who isnt well versed in english would say drove.

  • OMG.

I am not even close the native english, but i knew the answer.. drove is a verb you moron.

  • to native (sorry :P)

  • Yes but as not a non-native English speaker - you have an advantage of learning comprehensive English grammar. Native language speakers don't learn their language via rules but socialisation. Therefore, grammar is more basic for native language speakers.

  • Yes but english has few rules.

  • Still, out of the thousands of facts that people learn at school, it is understandable that adults have filtered out "adverb" from memory. How many native-English speakers know there are about 12 tenses? - not just part, present, and future tense.

  • Lawl the fact one is a native speaker of some language doesn't mean one knows less about the grammar. I know pretty much about the grammar of my first language...

  • Good for you! But I don't think anyone should have to feel sanctimonious just because they know grammar better than someone else. Anyway, the woman probably thought that only present tense words were verbs ie. drive, driving, therefore, she may have thought an adverb was a modified verb, ie, drive > drove.

If you can't remember advanced grammar from school, then, I don't think this is a bad answer.

  • You are retarded. English is one of the hardest languages to learn because of it's immense amount of rules and how ridiculously stupid some can be. "i before e except after c" that is a completely false fact just to give and example.

  • 'an example'

Heres an example of an exception to the rule

    Science

  • Actually english is one of the EASIEST language, dumbass.

How many languages do you speak? I'm fairly certain you only speak english, gg newbtard.

  • i speak English and am learning Spanish, all other languages are exact, they are very specific in who they are referring to and what. however, the English language has many rules that allows you to say one thing and mean something different, many times just depends on the way you pronounce it.

  • "I speak english and am learning spanish"

BS anser, the correct answer is: "I only speak english".

Let me explain why you're a retard:

"All other languages are exact, they are very specific in who they are referring to and what"

You know, this sounds like it conflicts with:

"the English language has many rules*"

Rules eh? I thought you said it wasn't specific, hmm.

I speak many languages, the only people who *think* english is difficult are those who only speak english. Thanks retard, gg.

  • I don't give a shit what you think if I speak English and the fact I am learning Spanish. Clearly you are just a pissed off person who hates the English language. You are getting way to defensive over this shit. I am still sticking to my word in saying English is one of the hardest to learn, doesn't really bother me when you call me a retard when you can't even use correct punctuation i.e (" ".) the punctuation goes inside of the quotation marks.

  • "I don't give a shit"

That immediately tells me that your level of education is that of a complete garbage individual.

"you are just a pissed off person who hates the English language"

An attempt to demonize me in order to justify your ignorance to yourself, hmmm.

"You are getting way to defensive over this shit"

    Me? LOL

Anyway, you're obviously some retard hillbilly redneck who knows nothing other than english, and even then, you struggle with that.

    Relax garbage, english is easy.

  • English is actually one of the easiest languages a person can learn. Take my word for it, I'm a language teacher.

  • Not at all! I only speak French and English, but there are just as many exceptions in French grammar as they're are in English.

  • you must be kidding. I learned French, English and German in school as foreign languages, and Dutch being my native language. English is by far the easiest of the lot. The ONLY part that can be somewhat tricky is spelling, because words that sound similar are not written the same. Like 'white', 'bite', and then 'night' (why not 'nite'?) and then 'knight' (pronounced like 'night'). But other than MAYBE spelling, English is one of the easiest languages around.

  • i heard that, i learned to speak spanish from my family, english on my own (internet and TV does wonders) dutch i had to learn since i lived in belgium and french im learning in school now

  • @PeterDeprez thx for a pronunciation lesson mr.deprez

  • @PeterDeprez

You're absolutely right, there is a reason why English is the most spoken language around the globe - as it is one of the easiest to learn.

  • Actually English is one of the hardest languages to learn, just take a look at the posts around here, ppl growing up with it as their native tongue can't even master it...so many meanings for the same word, or so many different words that mean the same thing, slang, etc. Lead a horse around, I have lead a horse around, lead is a metal...just for starters. Just because it is easy for you because you learned it from day 1 doesn't make it easy.

  • Once again, how many languages do you speak? I'm betting, with fair certainty, that you only speak english.

English is the easiest language there is. The only people who THINK that it is difficult are ignorant fools who only speak english.

The reason why people in the U.S. cannot master their native tongue is because most people there are incompetent. Not all of course, but most of them are. They choose to be ignorant, that to me, is incompetence.

    That's pretty much it.

  • oh god, are you serious? well, if you believe English is hard and you are learning spanish, you will get an ugly surprise, since there is a lot more words in spanish that are sinonyms(or like you said, different words that mean the same) and also, and lot more that have multiple meaning, sorry to tell you this man, but English is one of the easiest languages out there, and by the way i like English, is so... "practical", but it could not be farther from being hard to learn

  • All languages have complications but English is easy, people saying English is hard is because they don't really know about other ones.

For me, the hardest I've ever had to learn is Chinese, in fact, example: There was this Chinese scholar that once wrote a book that phonetically (if read aloud) would be like this: Shi shi shi shi shi shi shi shi...etc

You had to read the book yourself to understand it, as Chinese is about ideograms (characters, hanzi) not phonetics.

    "Lead" sound easy now, eh?

  • and why woudln't she hae used the COPY?

  • what teh hell...why would she have decided "drove" was the closest thing to an "ly" word? what the hell

  • so close yet er yea..but theres pressure there

  • pathetic. omg omg omg omg omg

  • omg doesnt know what an adverb is! ih great another genius! lol

  • To be fair it was a hard adverb to pick out. If it was drive quickly she would have gotten it right.

  • That was meant for the FDpoker guy. Something is wrong with these YouTube comments! It must be a bug.

  • first off

i must commend the idiots on this show

i feel like a jerk for saying this

    but seriously

like 30 years old and she doesnt know what an adverb is

but i must commend her for standing in a pit surrounded by cheering audience and making a fool of herself

    second off

alana is a bit of a know it all

    third

i feel bad for the kids that dont get picked... poor spencer

  • I know Jacob...I've seen him on Disney Channel.

Wow I'm a dork and still watch Disney Channel.

  • this show makes me feel so smart.

  • hahah

    why?

    bcuz u r 5th grader?

    heheh~

  • What a retard.

  • quiz = FAIL.

According to standard classification, anthropoids are Chordata> aves> Gruiformes > Gruidae ? Anthropoides> (cranes).

Us humans of course are Mammalia> Primates> Homonides> Homonins > Homo.

It's true the greek root refers to humans, but the question's about taxonomy.

  • @rrritalin Maybe I'll be called stupid after this but I'm pretty sure your first reference is from Greek and you second one is Latin.

Homo in Greek is "Same" (Homosexual?) and in Latin is well, human.

I'm also pretty sure that "anthropos" doesn't have anything to do with "aves". As the species in itself have their own Latin radical. In Latin I said.

My etymology is rusty, so I'll have to check it out again.

(Plus, English is not my native language, but that's just an excuse)

  • you guys bashing Americans because of a joke TV show makes no sense. Why don't you guys watch the Americans on Jeopardy (one of the greatest game shows in history) and see how you fare compared to them.

  • Most people don't understand that there is a huge, and growing, rift between the "average" American and the "intelligent" Americans.

  • FOX is known to pick good looking, but definitely dull bulbs from their testing, so they are playing on the stereotype that Americans are dumb.

  • Well, I like to think that *some* Americans are smart. I mean, watch Millionaire or something, and you'll see that we're not all dumbasses like this chick.

  • Well, I mean, FOX is one of the "stupid" news networks, so it'd make sense that idiots would be on the show.

  • if i wus the kid i would intentionally write the wrong answer

  • just reading how you phrased that makes me know you are an idiot.

  • So how do you explain the Australian, German and other versions?

  • I have a feeling that they choose people for the show that aren't the brightest bulbs in the box (obviously...that makes for great entertainment and laughs), but I also have a feeling that they choose the questions according to your level of intelligence...as the show proceeds. .

  • I have a feeling that you are right.

  • actually the word for human in greek is anthropos.therefore anthropoid means humanlylike(im greek)

  • i though is "DROVE" too. That mean i am not smarter than a fifth grader.

  • If i did this i would have 1 million dollars in about 5 minutes.

  • yeah yeah...

  • well at least i'm not an idiot

  • fuck that them kids are studied in. who the fuck learns the word antrepoid in 5th grade i dont even know if i spelled it right

  • YOU ARE NOT SMARTER THAN THESE KIDS!

THE SPELLING IS ALREADY IN FRONT OF YOU!!

ANTHROPOID!! And the question who learns this stuff?? KIDS WHO PAYS ATTENTION IS SCHOOL. My godchild was in the 2nd GRADE LAST YEAR! FOR HER HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT on the Christmas Holidays: Do a report on any ANIMAL (she was given polar bears). And she has to answer five questions ABOUT IT. She did all the work herself. She was given a gold star sticker for her finished work.

  • I tend to agree, dude. I didn't know what an "anthropoid" was, had never even heard the term. But, I *do* know where "anthro" comes from, which is shorthand for "anthropomorphic", which means exactly what the kid said, "similar to humans" or "with human qualities". I had that question right and I feel proud of myself.

  • lol are u stupid? u never had word dissection in school? anthro means human. And then u can just guess its ape, cuz apes are like humans, duh.

  • Wow...just wow...
