Yeah, they only get to perform 3 times (audition, semifinals, and finals) and most of them choose their best piece for the finals, which also most of the time is the one they used in the audition.

The trouble I have with Escala is that they are a visual and audio act. Pick any 4 virtuosoes in the world, get them to play those instruments and record it on CD under the title "Escala" and would you tell the difference? You won't. The visual part is there selling point. Playing the instruments, they are actually nothing special if you compare it to any other virtuoso currently playing in the world.
