  • We need to remember, at one point in our history people converted from Polytheism to believing in one creator of all man and the universe. This very belief brought all these Polytheism cultures together, there's proof of this notion in the Bible and it's a historical fact. And we're slowly with time moving from believing in one God (2000 years later) to becoming Atheist and/or Antitheists. I mean, this debate is highly interesting with very intelligent minds, but there's no God, I am sorry!

  • What do we learn from these christians after hearing their views on the christian religion? You chose what you want to believe in and argue as good as you can for the rest... It's not about if there is a God or not, its about giving people something to believe in because people are driven by faith and optimism and back then God and jesus offered that to them...

  • How would it not be interesting to know Jesus' DNA, and in turn, gods? O.o

These people have no desire for knowing what's true, only what's convenient and what fits their fantasy world view.

  • I LOVE ST. PAUL! If he was alive today, he would be COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! That's why I LOVE HIM!

Sounds vaguely like a battered wife defending her husband when he's sober.

  • I'm in love with francesca...so smart and pretty...

  • Religion fails under scrutiny. Desperate people dressed in silly hats, shirts and collars get frustrated when they realise they've pinned their colours to a mast made of shit.

  • If there really was a God he should have given the job of writing the bible to William Shakespeare. People would still argue it's meanings of course, but it would have been a much better read.

  • clap clap clap clap

  • that bible scholar, francesca, is very hot! i wonder whether she goes for that no-sex-before-marriage shit...

  • Feel very sorry for Dawkins here, surrounded by idiots.

  • "What is the meaning of our life?" is a question that assumes there is a meaning at all.

  • Blessed are the cheese makers is at the heart of my faith (pastafarianism).

  • @sionnyn May the Flying Spaghetti Monster Sprinkle you with His Parmesan blessings today!

  • I enjoy the host as well, he keeps control of things.

  • In which case Bishop there is a high probability that the whole thing is Bullshit!

  • Sorry but how is this a fair debate when almost everyone in the audience and on the panel believes in the same Abrahamic God? Richard Dawkins has been ganged up on in this debate. He has no provenance/control over this argument and really can't hope to get his own opinion properly heard, in other words he has been subdued by an overwhelmingly Theist opposition and has been unable to express his logical and fair opinion without being interrupted by theists who wish to silence him.

  • @jjvphilosopher I've seen this happen a few times now on the big questions, when ever they talk about something involving religon (which seems to be every damn episode at the moment, its interesting but c'mon change the record) they will have one or two rationalists/scientists/atheists, etc and then a pannal and audience jam packed with air headed, theist, morons blabbering on about how they and their stupid beliefs and emotions are 'so beyond science', etc, etc.

  • This is the 21th century, and we haven't gotten further... How can there be any hope....? I'm depressed.. :(

  • Dude I swear to "god" it looks like Dawkins is about to cry. Honestly look at it:

    8:24

Honestly, I feel for him though. The Bible is pretty sick...

  • I need to stop surfing youtube watching debates like this because the only faith I have is in humanity, and it's rapidly deteriorating. Thanks, idiots.

  • @redbreast3 I'm glad it's not just me.. :| The threat of nuclear destruction of this planet doesn't seem as bad after watching this... There's no way forward with people like that anyway..

  • @redbreast3 lol, I feel the exact same way. Glad im not the only one. If I was Dawkins I would be pulling my hair out listening to these religious loons.

  • "BECAUSE HE IS MY FAVOURITE"

    I lold

  • There are some seriously deluded people on this show. I find it hard to believe we're living in the 21st century.

  • I like how Dawkins is so straight forward with them :), I reckon he's thinking 'you bunch of religious idiots, you have no idea what crap you're talking when an atheist is listening', or maybe I'm just thinking that.

  • Comment removed

  • To think that an infinitely massive universe with its countless stars and unimaginable age cares about sentient beings in a tiny rock is truly humorous.

  • also on that note, the Chinese had written laws 1,000 years before the bible was even written

  • Confucius say, all are retarded except for Dawkins :)

  • I'm an atheist, but the the chick in the habit is hot. I wonder what she thinks about lesbians.

  • The guy with the "divinely inspired story" sets my gaydar off.

The thing that I always find funny in the Jesus story is that it wasn't really a sacrifice. I mean, the guy supposedly went to heaven and lived on there as a sort of prince. What did he sacrifice? A life of poverty? He suffered for like a day.

  • The guy with the "divinely inspired story" sets my gaydar off.

  • Fuck stop clapping!!

  • Any questions the creationists can't answer they just say aren't important to them! What?! You would never hear a scientist or a historian saying anything like that! What a cop out, shame on that Bishop.

  • who the fuck are the clappers,,,

  • @sonuEEE Happy people !!

  • @domnal and also with serious mental disability..

  • @domnal Sorry you are in Australia - In the UK we describe the excitable religious types as "Happy Clappy " or in this case happy clappers !! the serious mental debility is standard of course.

  • i know he doesnt debate religious people but Neil Degrasse tyson would be awesome in this. just look at the 200 billion galaxies are ou there. we are insignificant.

  • about to watch the 3rd part... im not quite sure this black dude is going anywhere with this ...

  • There should be a giant spot light with the letter H to beam toward the sky to get Hitchens to come evrytime someone tries to justify religion.

  • 05:10 a feminist and religious lesbian in the closet... sad creature.. come on just get out of the closet lady so you could wake up! ... 6:07 .... WTF? *faints

  • religion made by man to control other man

  • where is christopher hitchens?

  • @michalite04 That would not be a fair fight because with him in the same room as Richard Dawkins the others would be out numbered brain cell for brain cell !! You have to be fair !!

  • Some people will clap anything

  • Notice how these religious arguments are always between Christians and no other religion. (Sometimes it's Muslims.)

  • The guy at 6:00 is mentally retarded. Right?

  • The basis of the Christian faith is written throughout the OT. Without the OT, Christ has no significance and the prophecies fulfilled by Jesus have no reference. The OT is the foundation.

  • 5:05 he calls her 'sir'... eesh awkward turtle.

  • yes, just because the bible describes a bad event doesnt mean it supports it, but when it describes events where god demands horrid crimes, it DOES mean it supports it, no way around it, christians need to grow the fuck up and accept that there god IS NOT REAL

  • @wearestarstuffsagan Christians always try to find a way out of a situation.

  • Sacrifice is sickening! Imaging you need to be sacrificed for a caused. Would you want to be sacrificed? Obviously no!

  • What a daft audience.

  • Not the best debate format...

  • Dawkins has a great point. The lovey dovey stuff they accept with no question. Yet, when it comes to evil, they take is a message or it can't be taken literally. God can't lose because their imaginations won't let him.

  • God is love...yawn

  • I love how even the leaders of these religions state that the bible is just not true... and yet they defend thier point of view that the bibles stories on how we should act based ont hem rather than what the actual stories in the book mean. What is the difference between any other random book and its stories and meanings? It's rediculous.

  • Why does saying something nice about the Bible automatically deserve applause?

  • @ryanwilk0 ha yh it really annoys me, dawkins actually has to earn his credit with logic and argument

  • Jesus also said killn Jews like u, fuckin dirty animal

  • the bibles words and stories have changed over 1000 times.

  • The crowd clapping is so annoying.

  • The purpose of the vast universe of clouds, gas, stars, nebulae, explosions, and space is love it seems

  • @iliveon the purpose according to atheist of the vast universe of clouds, gas, stars, nebulae, explosions and space is chemical reactions in the brain it seems..

  • @jamaicanification There is no intrinsic meaning to this vast universe. We make our own meanings, through family, etc. No one asked to be born, or ancestors evolved.

Atheism gives you nothing generally, and for some its dark, but for others, it gives a meaning to rid the world of superstition (the people who used to be religious and now see the horrors of religion) the psychological trap

  • @iliveon really? You make it seem as if religion has done nothing but have an evil effect on human society. If you look at the scientific evidence it is quite the opposite. Religion has actually helped out species in its development and survival, and was one of the the tools that was instrumental in the development of human civilization. Also, psychological tests have been done that people who either suffer illness or disease are able to cope better because of there belief.....

  • @jamaicanification "Religion has actually helped out species in its development and survival, and was one of the the tools that was instrumental in the development of human civilization."

Don't think religion helped man survive, nor the development. In fact in history it seems religion tried to shun scientific discoveries that countered common religious belief. Also coping better is only saying the drunkard feels better when drunk. It doesn't help cancer patients, sick people, medicine does

  • @jamaicanification Religious differences cause war, this is demonstrated all throughout history, even today.

If religion was gone (which I don't ask this to happen), our society would be living life to the fullest, not worrying about afterlife, or if someone is going to get "smote" by god. You have idiots over there proclaiming that Japan deserved tsunamis and God did it, you have idiots over there saying haiti was caused by gays, etc. Its detrimental. Doesn't help.

  • @iliveon So does differences in terms of politics, economics, sociological factors, culture, race, language, tongue, should we get rid of all of those too so that Human beings can live to there "fullest"? I know you have nuts who use religion to slaughter people, just like how you have people who use science, or political ideologies, or culture, or race, or creed, or ancestry, or anything that has to do with human beings in general....

  • @jamaicanification I like to stick with this: ""With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion"

Your "other things cause evil too" isn't a problem right now. I am against those ideologies, racism, etc as well.

  • You love St. Paul? Are you F$^&ing serious? St. Paul clearly never met Jesus, even if you take the bible literally. He wasn't one of Jesus' friends, yet he stands up and acts like he knew him well. Paul made christianity disgusting. He was the one who introduced salvation by faith alone. Great. So an honest unbeliever who helped people will go to hell, while a serial killer who repents on his death bed can get into heaven. GREAT MORALITY ST. PAUL!

  • Excuse me bishop, but the bible clearly agrees with the mass murder in the bible. If God thought Lot a scumbag, which he clearly was, he would have killed Lot with the rest of Sodom and Gromorrah. And what about where God directly orders the genocide against the midionites. In fact he orders the israelites to kill all men, boys, and non-virgin women, but keep the virgins for yourself. Is god advocating child rape?

  • If you look carefully it's actually only the same 4 or 5 people who applaud the theistic babble. So fortunately I think most of this audience possess intelligence

  • "I should have thought that was beyond dispute" dur guys!! Dawkins is funny

  • "how can you applaude that?"

well they can because they are primates

  • @HumanVersion2 I wouldn't mind sitting in a room with the lovely Dr Francesca :)

  • Why is that Christina women acting as an apologist for st paul knowing fine bloody well that, the passage directly implies forced subjugation and oppression upon the female part of our society for 2000 years now? I despair for humanity when i hear this crap.

  • LOL RD is mad funny, "HOW CAN U APPLAUD THAT?!"

  • I have never heard so many bullshitt all together......fazinating!!! I'm really waiting for Sheldon's Bazinga

  • As a Canadian, I must say that the Brits do TV really well. Much better stuff then we get in North America.

  • @johneamer man, you know damn well america would burn any T.V station that airs this, as you said, Brits do TV really well.

  • Send Hitchens in there and every theist gets their asses handed to them

  • Durrr I'm going to clap at any old horsehit I hear Durrrrr!

  • i can't continue watching this. sorry, i still need my brain.

  • they're quoting biblical passages like everyone is supposed to know them. i can't even be bothered to google them.

  • Richard Dawkings was losing his time with all those horde of insane psychotics... it's absolutely impossible to take a person outside his/her delusion from withing its delirious pseudo-logic...

  • Dawkins is such a loser

  • @InverStone600 Jesus broke OT law, told people to break free from reliance on the OT, and filled his teachings with stuff that was contadictory to a lot of the OT. More likely it was the people listening to him and writing it down that confused things. The sermon on the mount can surely contain psychological truth: even if it never happened!

  • that woman 'historians' view on history is quite retarded. on her basis anything everyone said is 'supposed' duhhhhhh, want to point out the way to the kitchen?

  • I wish Richard would throw a microscope at that bald fucker.

  • Blessed are the Cheese Makers.

  • "My god is the god of love"; "The god of my faith", bla bla... Man, there is absolutely no truth in religion, everyone just makes up their own "truth" about "their" god.

  • "There can be no forgiveness without cost." This is idiotic comment of the month. God made man imperfect. Man commits sin, and so god has to sacrifice his son so he can forgive us. It is amazing that this can make sense to these idiots.

  • You gotta love the red herrings from all the Christian apologists.

  • @SpinozasPsyche

"gotta love the red herrings from all the Christian apologists"

Only for the sake of appreciating a good red herring as a good red herring. Under the bottom its nothing more than engaging in some serious pain-O-lympics. Its quite puzzling that there are still people believing and promoting all that nonsense...

  • Man, Richard Dawkins, has the patients of a 'Saint' LOL, how does one argue with such stupidity ?

  • I really can not believe that these debates take place. Did these people go to school at all?

  • Sheep! All of them. Baa baa. Richard Dawkins is remarkable. I love him!

  • My goodness these people are dumb stupid... fully and one 100 percent deluded morons!

    Poor Dawkins...

  • God damn it, I can't take these idiotic Christian apologists picking and choosing their scripture. Jesus told slave to obey their masters, said bring those who rejected Him and kill them before Him! His sycophants precluded women from teaching and condemned homosexuals. They just want to forget the all about the jealous, cruel capricious God of the Hebrew Bible. Hypocrites all.

  • the historian is a babe. I dont know how Richard can deal with these retards.

  • @Oztrigger5 Damn Right! On both counts.....

  • Richard Dawkins has been on here before, I applaud his willingness to suffer so much stupidity for the sole case of spreading rational thought

  • 9:17 "There's no forgiveness without cost" - WTF? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of forgiveness? Retarded bishop! I can perfectly understand why Richard's surprised seeing ppl applauding such nonsensical statement...

  • ha ha you can tell dawkins is really annoyed at religious people and i dont blame him

  • @mcdinkity i think so, either he isn't annoyed by them, or i guess he recognizes his work as very important

  • my kampf was a popular book too....does not make it a good idea to start a group that ideologies and praises it...

  • virgin birth not important?...isn't that the whole thing about your religion..otherwise he would not be the son of god...and no redemption from sin!!...but you can see religion falling apart aside from its finger nail grip trying to hold on..

  • Dawkins tilt of the head shows his contempt and frustration...he wants to say "you are all delusional!!"...but politeness stops him...barely!

  • Everyone apart from Dawkins (And the woman on the panel in the white shirt, long dark hair & also the black guy with the locks) in this studio was in absolute FULL RETARD mode. Seriously, people like that are beyond saving and it's absolutely frightening to see. They will brush aside logic, rationality, scientific evidence & theory and disregard everything to defend the religion, by chance, that they happened to be born into.

  • @PeterStevens01 brilliantly put and I totally agree.

  • OMG SOOOO much stupidity...

  • @12:00 "I don't want a hygienic life", Go live in a fucking skip then.

  • This

    Program

    Is

    Full

    Of

    Fuckheads

  • @InverStone600 No kidding. If the only thing you take seriously is the teachings of Jesus then say you follow the teachings of Jesus. If you claim that he was the son of a god that means you have to defend the miracles as well. The intellectual dishonesty and cowardice of Christians is absolutely amazing. To expand your point; Jesus says at least twice that we must still follow the Old Testament Law (Matthew 5:18). Remember Christians, Jesus endorsed killing your kids for back talking.

  • It's so aggravating how this "Rev" and so many others try to ignore segments of the story such as the virgin birth or the other miracles. If all you want to accept are Jesus' teachings (which were not in the slightest original) that's fine, say you follow the teachings of Jesus. The main point is whether or not there is a god and whether Jesus was his son. I can say I like some of Buddha's teachings and not believe in reincarnation. Don't call yourself a Christian unless you accept the miracles.

  • Thank goodness for Dawkins. If Richard Dawkins did not exist its quite possible i would have comitted suicide by now. Unfortunately the illogical voices seem to drown out the logical voices in this world.

  • death=cost of forgivenes.. WTF!!!???!!! that way Osama Bin Laden should be put in a temple or mosque.. hez equivalent to jesus...motherfuckers.

  • they r all farkin sheep. i hope my generation doesnt turn out to be like that when we r older.

  • @HumanVersion2 they r all farkin hardcore christians who have been stuyding n stuffin myths of bible in their brains for yrs n yrs n RD is alone sittin their tryin 2 make a point to lumps of coal. almost all of em wearing that white collar that father in church wears... creeps me out.. i'd love to die rather than sittin with these medieval idiots.

  • wow that woman is out of her mind, she looks to the bible to fidn out the why when scientiests are just ripping open a new world in physics, new particles being discovered these religious people are all going to rot in the ground, nothing more

  • If Saint Paul were alive today, he would still be a sexist, authoritative asshole - until confronted with the current moral zeitgeist and would be FORCED to change his mind to save face.

  • The bald, Indian priest thinks that there can be no forgiveness without the sacrifice - oh, I'm sorry "cost" of Jesus' death. So in other words, if the priest were transported in a time machine back to Jesus' execution, he would stand by and allow Jesus to be tortured and mutilated - since it was required. How despicable. Once again, as Richard said aptly: HOW CAN YOU APPLAUD THAT?!

  • @HumanVersion2 he gets paid to

  • What a waste of a life to follow a belief and devote your ENTIRE life to it...think of how much progress humans would have without these fucking fairy tales...we'd be living on Mars by now and banging interstellar chicks!

  • Religion is the plague of modern society.

  • @Gurn92 Why not "occupied by" instead of "infested with"?

  • respect to dawkins, the only one making sense around there

  • @mHalfLife Not true. The hot multiethnic British woman is actually on top of this as well, especially as someone who studies the text for a living. The rest of these people are dodgy zealot bozos.

  • @mHalfLife How is he the only one making sense around there when the lady with the long black hair is holding her own as well? Don't underestimate her! Lol...

  • @mHalfLife And Francesca too.

  • Richard Dawkin's description of YHWH really should be completed with Ruth Hurmence Green's description of Jesus;

"Jesus is impatient, heartless, imperious, vengeful, vain, rude, misinformed, quick-tempered, inconsistent, given to violence upon occasion, smug and scornful."

When reading the gospels critically all these words are really true. Critics of Christianity waste their time with YHWH when they really can just as well point out that Jesus isn't someone you wish to have as your neighbour.

  • Why the fuck are people these days arguing about a mythical story as being true? It's completely moronic.

  • who else wants to marry that one atheist chick?

  • Grandma had hair like that when she went to sleep in her forever box.

  • The audience needs to stop fucking clapping at everything.

  • Does anybody else love how the Christians clap when the preacher is essentially saying, "I refuse to answer this question because I know it doesn't make any sense, and I know I'm wrong. Deflect, deflect, deflect."

  • The black guy gives lucid arguments - Our ability to cherry-pick is the consequence of having morality outside of a book...moreover the very reason why 10 people will have 10 dramatically diffident interpretation of a statement in a book is because morality is not derived from it. The problem with basing moral decisions on a book is that it can cause huge bias and blinds us from taking reasonable decisions based on facts.

  • "I'm anxious to get on to the New Testament"

Yeah, i would be too bishop

  • The black guy with the dreads is a smart man, and one of the few who talked any sense during that whole "debate"

  • It is obvious that everyone placing their own views onto these stories. Their put their own philosophies on the bible stories. Pretty much God likes what they like, and hates what they hate.

  • that ra-pie was just dumb... all these people are retarded, dawkins shudnt waste his time on these so called "intellectual theologans"

  • 5:35

This girl(?) says the reason the bible contains stories and parables is because the writers didn't want to end up with laws... yet the OT has what, 600+ laws in it? Give me a break.

  • This old guy is infuriating to listen to. His entire mindset is to avoid every single question that he knows he'll have trouble answering.

  • This old man is just telling is why he likes the bible not why it's true, jut makes him feel better.

  • Blablabla, this is an emotional statement.

    *clap clap clap*

  • @YOUGOTLOLLED i think i just got lolled...

  • I have a confession to make. I thought the weakness, ignorance and gullibility of the religious people in this programme was only seen in US debates / tv shows. My most sincere apologies to all Americans. This clip shows how bad we've got it in the UK. No wonder Dawkins looked bewildered.

  • Jesus' other chromosomes would of come from the holy ectoplasm(ghost).

  • The very worrying thing here is how most of the religious people on the panel and in the audience came across as still believing that religion has some kind of privilege. This is what made it such a weak show today. And the display of people saying proudly on air that they would believe anything in the bible without questioning it is truly appalling. that is nothing to be proud about. and that nazir ali drove me mad with that stupid assumption that morality comes from god/bible/jesus - nonsense

  • Richard Dawkins is a trooper

  • Are these assholes the audience of Oprah? They clap at anything! I wonder if I pulled down my trousers and took a shit on a baby's face while shrieking, "In the name of the Lord!" they would clap for me.

  • The applause after every little diatribe is driving me insane.

  • Who is the woman with the long black hair?
