What really killed the Quebec Nordiques was the drop of the Canadian dollar to 65c. There was no way Quebec (and Winnipeg) could keep their teams. Edmonton, Ottawa, Calgary and Montreal could also have lost their teams had they not had wealthy owners willing to accept hugh losses. With the Canadian dollar now around parity Quebec has a pretty good chance of getting their team back.
