I must say, David Gilmour's guitar playing moves me in a way that is just amazing. When I hear Marooned among many other Gilmour songs, his playing is filled with so much passion in EVERY note that he plays that it takes me to that island. It's not just notes when I hear this man play the guitar. Someone else could play the same notes on the guitar but because it's not Gilmours fingers playing it looses all the passion that only comes from the man himself. Hope this makes sense to others.

He can hit one note, and it'll move you like nothing else in the world. I feel the same way when I hear David Gilmour play. Literally hits me in my heart and sends shivers down my spine. This is just simply beautiful.

@buriedinsmoke3 To be honest, I've encountered many people who play an instrument or say they appreciate music yet have no clue when I start to talk about true soul found in very few musicians like Gilmour. They're lots of very skilled players in the music field who know scales and music theory that is amazing. Their skill however often lacks any depth of soul in the notes, which sets the best apart. Gilmour plays with total soul and passion in each note. that is simply beautiful I agree.

These comments are halarious. Mongo the Lloyd, you are 100% correct about FZ. He was bad ass. Black Napkins is my all time favorite solo, but I can certainly enjoy Dave's playing too. It's all a matter of taste. Restraint is very difficult for me on the guitar, and that is Dave's strong suit. I wish I could slow down and play an achingly poigniant solo like this, but alas I start spitting out gnat notes. Too much Zappa intake over the years I guess. Oh well. To each his own.
