*No, really! Toms that are pointed up like that are easier to hit from a fast roll on the snare, because you just have to turn your wrist, rather than lift your whole arm. But it looks stupid, so only n00bs do it.

You are right, his style doesn't call for double bass, but every drum solo I've heard by him just sucks. Its easy to make a beat and learn it and play it, but coming up with something on the spot and making it sound good is where I separate bad drummers from good drummers.
