could you make a video on getting open nat becauseI I have the router on 1 xbox and i get strict nat. Ive tried default host thing and port forwarding and no positive results
For some reason its slow on my iphone 4s especially when streaming youtube videos, i have to wait for it to load a video and if it does load it will lag later on, my old Netgear g router didn't have this problem it was actually instant when I watched a video on my iphone. However on my macbook pro its fairly fast. Anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know a solution or should I just call apple to troubleshoot it??
I want to get one but dont want to use it as a wireless since it will be right next to both my imac and xbox. I would just connect both of them via the cat5e cables to the back. How much faster is your speed when you have it using the cable instead of wireless?
@dieselworld I find that I get full speed of whatever my service is set at. It's really sweet! Sounds like a good idea. I was going to wire in my Mac, still may, but I was located farther away from the router than expected. You won't be disappointed with the Airport Extreme. This is coming from a diehard Cisco fan too. ;) (I might as well add a Mac Fanboy as well. :P)
@dieselworld I have had my router for about 2 weeks now and its great. I was using the xbox on the wireless set-up and still would mostly get 4 bars but somtime 3. I swapped it over to just wired to the router and get 4 bars all the time now. I love the router!
Dude, awesome review. I bought this router STRICTLY because of NAT issues with multiple Xbox's. I'm glad somebody actually covered the issue in a review. This thing is well worth the price. Thanks for the video.
@1slayang2 Sure! If your modem has an ethernet output "You're good to go!"
We have cable here in Arizona. If I remember this correctly, Comcast is cable as well. It should have built in ethernet and USB on thier typical modems. All the ethernet cables I have right now are CAT5e. Just plug it from your modem to the airport, go through the quick Airport Utility setup, and you're ready to rock!
@xJonnyGunsx i changed it to "Share a public IP address" but it wouldnt update unless i changed to Off (bridge Mode). any other suggestions? they would be greatly appreciated :)
When you get into the AirPort Utility, check under the internet tab and look to see if your connection sharing (at the bottom) is "Share a public IP address."
Then, restart your modem and then reboot your router after you get a connection established with your modem. That should give you open NAT.

" set it and forget it" that was a Ronco brand Rotisserie oven ..i think. I remember that infomercial also. ah..the days of 3 to 4 a.m tv. i burned way too much of my late night teen years that way :P
@chronofusion Haha! Yes! Good times. Once in a while it would be a Friday/Sunday night and a cool movie would come on, on FOX. One of the movies I still like from seeing on there was Albino Alligator. Oh, man. The teen years...

I have seen corporate I.T. level HARDCORE testing amongst your extreme, and 3 $500.00 + corporate ranked routers..the extreme under hardcore data transfer usage only shows huge signs of performance dips when at least 22 machines were connected to it. to take it with a grain of salt but either way...PRETTY DAMN NICE for a router under half the price as the corporate level I.T. pro router competition. congrats
@chronofusion Thank you, Sir! I actually was expecting what I usually get with any new router I buy. I run into a few things here and there, but this Extreme has been perfect. Set and forget (reminds me of 90's late night advertisement.) hah!

how do you open up the nat?!
xNatureChannel 4 months ago
@xNatureChannel Hey, what's up!?
Try this:
When you get into the AirPort Utility, check under the internet tab and look to see if your connection sharing (at the bottom) is "Share a public IP address."
Then, restart your modem and then reboot your router after you get a connection established with your modem. That should give you open NAT.
Just comment back to let me know how it worked.
