@luxo444 Well, sort of. It's very similar to another game by the Turbine (makes of LotrO) : Asheron's Call 2 - which came out well before WoW.

WoW did almost nothing new. Its UI, questing style, combat style, etc. were all taken from other previous MMOs. Due to WoW being accessible to most players (even on lower-end computers), and Blizzard's popularity, WoW became so successful that many a lot of people credit it with "inventing" aspects of MMOs that it simply borrowed and streamlined.

@GothN00b Unless you get into Beta (not everyone does), you can either:

a) Subscribe now to the full game ($10 - $15 a month, depending on whether they're running a special at the moment)

or

b) Wait until LotRO adds a Free to Play option this fall (I'm guessing it will be sometime in October). It's a great game, and well wroth the subscription, but trying out the Free to Play first is probably a good idea; after all, not everyone enjoys the same games.

@derrixk There is PvMP, when you get lvl 10 as a good guy you can play monster play and play as Orcs, Uruks, Spiders, Wargs and Goblins over 6 classes. This is in an instanced part of the map though called Ettenmoors.

DDO is shit compared to LOTRO, and that's why DDO is free =P i've tried DDO, and believe me i've tried to like it, but it just reminds me (sorely) too much of neverwinter nights, which totally blew imo. i simply don't like the D&D rules for mmorpg's, it makes the game weird in many ways. D&D is great for pen and paper though ofc. LOTRO is so versatile in ways of cusomizing your character, and tailoring it just the way you want with skills, traits, deeds etc etc. LOTRO FTW!!

Everyone knows WoW sucks, its a relentless grind of 'fed-ex' quests and normal grinding till you get to like 30-40, when you can do raids.

Nightfall was a longer campaign at around 15 hours.

EotN was around 10 hours if you rushed it.

Sadly- i have to disagree- even tho i wish that was the truth-- I do have to agree on some parts- LOTS of quests in this game are solo but most of the combat, especialy when you get into a higher level, you will need a fellowship (group) even if its just 1 person

Yes melee is capable of a hunter but hunters are most capable at range.

All of the classes can ride horses.  At lv 35, you can go do a series of simple quests to earn to earn the right to ride a horse. Then you still have to purchase one. It's a bit pricey, but not too bad.

- Champions have aoe attacks, high damage, good armour. -Burglars have stealth, evasion, pickpcketing, & can start 'Fellowship Skills' - Loremasters get pets, debuffs & crowd control, & some healing. -Captains are have good armour, decent damage, good heals, nice buffs, & a 'pet' Herald. -Guardians have great armor, abilities used after blocking / parrying, & aggro control. -Minstrels have great heals, good buffs, & can play every instrument in the gane's music system.

No, Dyrnwynn Silverlake is a human from Dale.

Elf hunters do start with a bit more agility, but in the end, all of the races can be effective Hunters. Hunters in LotrO are the 'glass cannons' of the game. Huge (mostly single target) danage output, but squishy if you get more than one foe on you in melee. We do have traps and such to control multiple enemies, fortunately.

seriously give it a go, if ur more into pve(dungeons and exploring) you will love it abit of pvp at 50(max level) but other than that its great, good story line and graphics, but don't play a hunter, too many and you will get stereotyped as a retard(sic), as most of them are

The fighting isn't dull at all, actually.  I was purpopsefully taking my time killing them so that some of the shots could be viewed. Not only are the graphics gorgeous (you should have at least 1 gig of RAM, 2 is better, and also a video card with 512 or better memory), the game creates a deep storyline in a way that no other MMO comes close to.
