I love the resorts in Mexico too, but I am not going back until all that drug cartel stuff is over with. I think it will never be safe again. No one is immune from the violence in Mexico. I bet a lot of those resorts are owned by the drug cartels. It's just a matter of time before the tourists start being murdered.
I don't fear that anymore than the gangs of Vancouver or even the shoot em up in Kelowna this past August. Air Canada removed flight attendants from Winnipeg sighting crime and safety. I sympathies with how you feel, we just haven't encountered any problems in the Yucatan or Puerto Vallarta. BTW I liked Sandos, this time we start next door at the Iberostar, there are great deals to be had...
