  • watch closely he is saying "Take it its fine its fine" or some other variation as soon as he is handing them the blank paper

  • That shirt would tell any american that you're not seriously rich...

  • I believe this is possible.

  • absolutely fake! ahahahah...so many stupid people that believe this shit

  • @ImaeNoon

i can vouch that this is possible. 4 years ago me and my friends tried this for couple of days in various shops. success rate 5-10 proc. and we are not even close to Derren Browns manipulation level. on top of it - i was lucky enough to witness Derrens abilities first hand 1 year ago in London - he is really amazing and very honest about what he does. i see no point for him to scam people on this particular video, cause he can do far more amazing stuff easily.

  • What alot of you are not doing amazes me. Perhaps if you looked into the theories and techniques behind what he is doing. Known as Neural Linguistic Programming you would have a better understand of what he is doing and why it works. And why it does not work on the hot dog vendor. All pretty simple. Look it up before you start talking about things you don't understand or comprehend.

  • What you don't see is the 10 misses he has for every hit. It's not necessarily a trick at all. He probably also does it in the afternoon when people are more tired and less alert too.

  • Something you all must learn.. the trick Derren Brown is doing, is on you. If you believe this, then you are the fool. Even Derren knows that...

  • lol did he get away with the ring?

  • It's amazing how many youtubers are in genuine disbelief.

  • Impossible! I don't believe it!

    This must be fake!

  • This is totally fake. No, seriously.

  • I just realised he was saying "take it, take it, it's fine", "take that and feel ok", "take it, it's fine" at the exact moment he's handing over the bill. Also, (and I hope this isn't racist) but the hot dog guy seemed to have a bit of an accent, so maybe English isn't his first language?

  • He can steal a 4500 dollar ring,yet can't get a hotdog. He'll starve looking like Mr.T

  • Hahaha, "that's good for you to take. So you can just take that and feel OK."

  • derren is a genius BUT! this is a MAGIC TRICK. Google the words, Telling Tales Big Spender by Luke Jermay (a derren brown consultant)

  • I hope he actually paid them afterwards.

  • You'd think saying "it's okay" would make people more suspicious, like your waiter saying that your food isn't poisoned.

  • @holycrapadinosaur Haha, good point xP "Here's your fish and chips, it's not poisoned. It's for you to eat. Enjoy the meal".

  • He uses the words "Take it, it's okay" to suggest that everything is okay. Derren Brown is all about Neurolinguistic Programming

  • At 2:20 the owner pulls his hand back a bit, which means that he thought Derren will take it and run away.

That means that Derren never met him before and this isn't fake. :)

  • @LucdDream But then the owner lets him handle the ring, which would allow him to just run away.

  • Yes it's true that he uses guiding words at the moment of the transaction such as "take it, it's fine, it's fine" or "it's good for you to take" etc..... but that is just a small final element of what is actually happening.

He sets the whole thing up with misdirection. Notice how each time he mentions location/direction and being lost. He points and tries to get the merchant to point as well. This works well with the accent. He is trying to alter the persons "conscious vision" so to speak.

  • what the fuck is wrong with you haters? derren brown isn't a hoax, he's just really good at NLP. none of you even noticed the language he used.

1:03 - "It's okay, take it, take it" while talking about a subway.

1:37 - "It's good for you to take, so you can just take that and feel okay"

    3:04 - "Take it, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine"

Fucking christ. I mean, just watch the video of him and Simon Pegg. He's good at using language to convince people to think a certain way.

  • This is fake, as a cashier you NEED to see the denomination of the bill. If the fish costs $18 and someone hands me over a single, i need to know if it's $20, $50 or $100 to give the man his change, if I sell a $4500 watch I need to know how much he's handing me over $3000, $2000 or 45 $1 bills. Also, at 3:07 he obviously see the blank paper.

  • @omfgroflma0 he does say "take it, its fine" that can allow the sense of security subliminally

  • @omfgroflma0 you're right, but you'd be surprised how often cashiers work on autopilot and just put money in the register.

  • Oh snap

  • sorry to spoil it people, but this is a well know mentalism effect. NO NLP!!! How's it done? So easy - there is real money (£5, £10, £20 notes) in the middle of the paper money bundle. Derren hides this from the viewer with camera angles, but the sellers can all see it and accept the cash (despite being confused by the paper)

  • ماتنبلع وإذا فهد مصدقك أنا مستحيل أصدق

  • Some people would feel uneasy with this behaviour.

In the past it happened to me to accept fake 5€ bills even though I notice they were fake, just because I found it so embarrassing for the other person.

I know they won anyway, but it's a fact that I'm embarrassed for them and I wouldn't exclude that these people in this video felt the same way.

The salmon guy might felt like "oh, look at this guy. he's so desperately trying to fuck me with these fake bills. poor guy I'm embarrassed for him".

  • so fuckin fake -.- you count the fuckin money! salmon guy would look at and see how much the change is. so fake

  • when he gives them money he says over and over "take it, its fine" even thought it was part of a story i wonder if that sends a subconscious message?

  • lol what bullshit

  • He's pretty cheeky...

  • It's clearly fake. There's no way.

  • @holahahaful Derren Brown is legit, qqmoar.

  • @Iced1992 you have to be pretty retarded to think this is legit.

  • @holahahaful Nope, not at all. Brown is the best in the business and suggestion techniques will work with about 30% of the population. I'm guessing they edited out some other failures rather than just the hot dog guy, but it works and that's a fact.

  • @holahahaful Nope, you have to be pretty retarded to think it's not.

  • Im pretty sure I would notice what was being handed to me...im pretty paranoid when it comes to money.

  • I think it is because of his british accent.

  • False and homosexual! If the jeweler was actually trumped for a few thousand, surely he would have been freaking out.

  • so....did he ever pay those people back?

  • in that case that it does work, you can also just bring a person and have them film you trying to get away with it. if you get away, you just got some free stuff. If you get caught, just pretend you were filming a TV show.

  • @dtrippy66 It's not stealing if they agree to it.

  • bullshit

  • If you noticed, he said, "Just take it its fine" when he would hand over the money.

  • 3,197 people are more gullible that the so-called shopkeepers in this video

  • This probably worked because the paper reminds people of checks, so it is accepted as some form of money. Handing out fake checks would probably work just as well.

  • @teddyknox Who uses multiple checks to pay for things?

  • I like how he enjoys this.

  • The mind is a incredibly complex system. It can be easily manipulated. I've seen things that weren't really there, and have heard things that have never been said.. and these are just the few cases I know have happened to me at some point. You can't tell me these kinds of things have never happened to you because if they did you wouldn't know about it.

  • @sjsawyer You might wanna get that checked out...

  • @prisonerofboredom Very original. Kudos!

  • I'd believe this, seems like hes using hypnosis tactics

  • Ooo I love this guy. Havent seen his show in a while though

  • Bollocks.

  • i don't buy it, i think they just put that hot dog guy in there to add the illusion that it wasn't rigged in the first place.

  • @enigma2213322133 could be...but @Rainbowsixoperator1 has a good theory aswell

  • @enigma2213322133

    Exactly.

Derren Brown is amazing, but this kind of stuff really undermines everything else he claims he can do.

  • @enigma2213322133 Well my friend I did not think it is possible too , but I served food in a Pub in my hometown and the guy who was making pizza did it too me a couple of times saying it was a different kind of pizza so I delivered a different kind of pizza to tables I served. It is not too difficult if you have the guts to do it. Off course there is some margin for error , but most of the time it will work if the trust bond is solid.

  • Think about it. A rich person would be insulted if the jeweler stopped and counted the bills. It's just classy for a transaction like that in cash to just take all the bills and not even glance at them. A guy on the street would easily be used to scams with fake bills.

  • @Rainbowsixoperator1 He counted the money with his hands when he riffed the fake bills against his thumb. Even classier to have those kinds of skills :D

  • @MrIncoming He doesn't count it. He puts the receipt over it and hands it to the cashier. The lady comes back and tells him that the bills are paper. Watch closer next time.

  • @Rainbowsixoperator1 Before he puts the receipt over it, he runs it all against his thumb. That's how he counts it, he intentionally does so without disrupting the conversation. There's a reason they specifically show him running it against his hand. Specifically at 3:10 you can see it

  • @MrIncoming He rubs it against his thumb but he doesn't lose eye contact with Derren. He gives it to the cashier to count after Derren has left.

  • @Rainbowsixoperator1 Yes. He counts it by feel. That's literally exactly what I'm saying. He rapidly counts it with his hands without breaking eye contact, because he's a classy businessman who knows how to do that. You mentally count how many times you feel a bill pass over your finger, and thus you get the number of bills, without using your eyes.

  • @Rainbowsixoperator1 your a fucking idiot. no man in the world would take 4500$ in bills and not count/mark the bills. it's obviously fake.

  • @nerdude2021 You go pay in cash for a piece of jewelry. The salesman doesn't count the cash, the person manning the register does.

  • @Rainbowsixoperator1 If you like after he takes the paper he flips through it like a flip book than puts the receipt over it.

  • I was just about to say how Derren Brown didn't do any mind fucking in this video and that he was fake. But after reading a lot of the comments, I realised he just mind fucked at least 4k+ YouTube believers. He doesn't make money by using paper to buy rings, he makes money off his gullible viewers.

  • @forthreeeee do you understand how the mind works. i dont believe in psychics but hes using science. the mind is a fucken retarded thing and its easily tricked.

  • @bigbangXxXx Derren Brown is very smart and a lot that he does is truthful but I really cant see this situation happening. Talking about the subway is going stop him looking at the paper, counting the paper, feeling the paper (I don't live in America so I don't know the currency well, but its going to feel different from regular paper, can you even flick paper money as hard as he does?). I don't believe he would lose awareness of his senses simply because of what Derren says.

  • @forthreeeee The idea is that he said something along the lines of your okay with taking this or something. It might seem ridiculous but since he said that, that person just accepted it without question. like have you ever opened up food in a wrapper and threw away the food and had the wrapper. My point is that we do alot of stupid shit without even knowing that we do it. And he realized what he did wrong instantly like many of us do on a daily basis

  • @bigbangXxXx So you have opened food in a wrapper, thrown away the food, and then consumed the wrapper without noticing? Do you run a jewellery store by any chance?

  • @forthreeeee Lol i didnt eat the wrapper... Im talking about mental slips. Take a psych course bro. You learn many things

  • @bigbangXxXx And who the fuck counts money at a jewellery store by flicking through it? This guy would have a set process he goes through when making a sale, he's not going to not count $4500 no matter how fine derren's friend thought the subway was.

  • @bigbangXxXx you are spot on.

  • I think it's because ( and not to sound racist ) the hot dog guy was foreign and sopke barley any english. Since mostly all of the distraction/hypnosis had to do with how Derren spoke and what he said (do you know what i can TAKE for a headache?) The man was probably not listening or had a hard time understanding him which would mean that he was unaffected by the hypnosis/distraction.

  • @Stinger198

Or maybe he was just more aware? He seemed to speak English just fine.

  • @Voidkvlt Very possible as well

  • the hot dog vendor didn't fell for it maybe cause the 1st thing he looked at was the money and not Derren. He did not got distracted by his words or eye contact which created the induction..

  • that had to be fake, at least it was with the jeweler.. anyones reaction to being jipped $4500 would be a little more intense than simply walking outside your store, putting your hands on your hips and looking around, he'd either be running down the sidewalk or calling the cops

  • @kryptonickraze I disagree. At that point you'd be so confused and/or embarassed that the reaction seems pretty realistic.

  • @kryptonickraze I think tuoz is right. Consider that he probably can't go running down the sidewalk and just leave the store or his station unattended, and also that if he calls the cops or goes to his supervisor, he also has to explain why he ACCEPTED blank money, and he wouldn't have anything to say. So it's probably a little bit of embarrassment and angst over having to explain what just happened that causes that reaction.

  • it makes sense when you know what to pay attention to...the way he constantly bombards them with words and such... he keeps their focus shifted. and the obvious one, as he hands them the paper, "take it, it's fine, it's fine." especially on the last one, for the big purchase, he said "it's fine" a bunch of times.

  • He must be using a Jedi mind trick. Pretty cool. Maybe one day I'll try it.

  • I hope this is fake... if not i'm going to try it.

  • I sure hope that he returned that ring.

  • Lol he pays with paper my dentist who I found out was a jew is hawking me for 10 dollars true story. I got a letter in the mail from his brother who is a lawyer that says I must pay past due or else I will be reported to the credit agency lol. Hmm

  • @DownwiththeK004 And since you're a Jew, we know that you're going to fight tooth and nail before you give up a single penny.

  • lol did he at least pay for them after lol

  • Oh, it's the doctor with psychic paper!

  • It seems like the girl from the Jewellery shop noticed it. If she did, why she didn't say something when Derren was in the shop but she was so disappointed when he left? No sense.

  • "take it, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine..." lol that's kind of a cheeky line there, isn't it?

  • HOW.?

  • The guy is a LEGEND!!!! - How to beat a casino - I will watch that when I get home!

  • I bet the way he looked and his accent played a big part. He doesn't look like the type of guy who would trick you. He looks like some rich traveling english businessman with a fancy wallet.

  • @misterhed Oh, absolutely. Part of scamming is learning these things called 'Fixed Action Patterns' or FAPs (I know, not the best acronym), which dictate how people respond to certain social cues, so to speak. One of them is Authority, and it involves dressing like a figure of authority (CEO, doctor, etc.) because we subconsciously believe that those people are less likely to lie to us. Ironic as that seems... If you've ever seen "Catch Me If You Can" or heard of Frank Abagnale, you'll know.

  • cool

  • The first thing he says in the video - so arrogant

  • @chupacapre I think that's on purpose and it's a joke.

  • @akisaksala Yeah, I'm sure if one don't know his satirical ways one would misinterpret it badly :)

  • Can anyone recommend, what the best learning material is for the kinds of things derren brown does? there are so many bullshit systems around, and practise alone is not quite enough.. really need to understand the mind more

  • @cartesiaLive he has a recomended reading list on his website

  • This is the greatest thing I have ever seen

  • I think it's a mistake to put things like this on a public site, some people have enough bad ideas without giving them more.

  • @Leeanne645 out of the people who watch it, a small portion will start to do bad things, but a much larger portion can become protected by knowing about the trick..

  • @Leeanne645 As opposed to public TV, where it usually appears, right?

  • @matrixphijr No, not as apposed to public tv, it shouldn't appear anywhere, but it is supposed to be educational and if it helps people become more aware. The criminals dont' really need any help to find ways to cheat people. I get calls from them almost every day with one scam or another.

  • Not as good as the stuff in the Mindreading Exposed ebook

  • how did he do that?

  • @rdy2pone he is using subliminal messages, notice everytime he is about to give them the money he uses the subway line and he says "just take it" in the sentence about his friends, the just take it is subliminal associated with the paper he is handing them. Obviously it's not always going to work and you have to very skilled in the first place to even use it.

side note to others you will never be satisfied if it works all the times it's a hoax if it doesn't it's a trick so you think its not

  • I want to see the part where he gives them their money back and asks them to sign a release. New Yorkers are going to act differently than Englishmen.

  • I have a bit of a hard time believing that a jewelry store owner would be duped into taking blank sheets of paper for a $4500 ring... I just don't see that happening. He didn't even count it - that would be 45 - $100 bills.

  • @calebmallen he uses distraction and suggestion. Notice how he says "take it, it's fine, take it" in his story when he hands over the money.

  • @calebmallen Derren used conversational hypnosis to put him into a trance and if you listen closer, he embedded the command "take it it's fine" as he handed over the paper. he is really talented!!

  • @calebmallen What I think about that is that the jewelery guy knew it was paper but his mind was like 'Blanked out' that he didn't relize he was accepting the blank pieces of paper as money. Thats what i Think :/

  • @Tyoson123 His india of corse he dosn't get fooled by 2$

  • @calebmallen Did you see the way he passed it against his thumb? He was counting it by feel so he wouldn't have to break up the flow of the sale by making his customer wait for him to count them individually by eye.

  • "Do you know my dad is "age same as the amount of money" would work if said before paying that amount of money (paper) to convince the salesperson that it is enough.

  • @GhostLinkSC imma try that shit!

  • it will never work in Israel XD

  • Derren Brown... my pen is missing.

    I Blame You.

  • @kdaffy1991 your penis missing? i'm confused. how relevant is this?

  • @cityofaustralind Post signs around the neighborhood. At least you'll have fun drawing it.

  • Try this in Canada, you will get canned mr. Brown. (having a hard time believing these clowns actually took your ridiculous "money"

  • @skydome29 Nobody takes Canada seriously as it is. Don't make it worse. Or do. I mean, I really don't care, I'm just trying to help.

  • @matrixphijr And who is it that sees the states as the shining beacon of reason? Haha, your country is so lost from what it should be. We don't care what americans think of us, I guess we only get taken seriously when we burn Grey houses to the ground :P

  • @skydome29 I find so much of that ironic I don't even know where to begin. It's funny, considering I was never really serious, anyway, just trying to get my jab in to see if I could knock you off your pedestal.

  • It's funny that the hot dog guy isn't fooled for around $2, but the jeweller can be fooled for $1400.

  • @Tyoson123 it was 4500, the hot dog guy wasn't very social and not open minded, as for the jewellery man he was quite social and open minded

  • @Passwordcracks Oh, that's a clever way to look at it. Makes sense as well. Sorry, I got the number wrong, didn't want to look through the video haha.

  • @Tyoson123 I think there's a relatively simple two-part explanation for that. First, a hot-dog vendor in New York City is probably used to being scammed or robbed and has to keep himself as closed as possible so as not to be manipulated. On the other hand, jewelers (though they may be robbed) are not typically ripped off or manipulated in broad daylight, so most people who enter a jewelry store are assumed trustworthy. Secondly, Derren didn't control the conversation as well with the vendor.

  • @matrixphijr Great explanation :) Well analysed.

  • @Tyoson123 Thank you.

  • @Tyoson123 $4500*

  • @Tyoson123 4500$*

  • I noticed that he keeps saying things like "Just take it as it is," which could somehow render them a little more suggestible. I really don't see how he could use such a subtle manipulation to entirely throw their attention away from the fact that they're holding paper, though.

  • It's not fake unfortunately. We humans really are easy to manipulate. Corporations and governments do it everyday but on a much larger scale.

  • This is utter bullshit. There's no way im going to walk into a jewerly store and buy a ring with blank pieces of fucking paper. BULLSHIT! If I could do that, I would. I would rob the world blind with it. Die fake ass motherfucker.

  • @shitthrowingmonkey1 If you had any understanding of psychology, suggestion and "rapport", and you tried it at a dozen different places you could. Even you.

  • @joshuaoha no you couldn't dickhead lol, unless your a total downie cunt that has no idea whats going on, and would accept blank paper, then yes it might work.

  • @joshuaoha OK, so you're the smart guy and I'm the idiot. So you're making a living passing off blank paper to stores that sell diamonds, right?

  • @shitthrowingmonkey1 While his last comment was unnecessary, he's trying to explain to you that it is feasible. Conmen have been running scams like this for most of recorded time. It IS possible if you know about certain psychological tricks and keys like FAPs (Fixed Action Patterns). These dictate that people are more likely to believe someone or give someone something under certain circumstances. Derren used several FAPs to his advantage in this, which made it possible.

  • note the two time that he succeeded he was talking about the subway and right when he handed the person the "money" he said "Take it. Take it its fine." This tells the person subconsciously that its real money.

  • "Can I buy some of your sole?" He's the devil!

  • I felt really bad for the jewler, I hope he paid him back :/ I'd be so stressed if I accidentally gave away a like 500 dollar piece of jewelry. yikes.

  • @lasarahxox He (and the camera crew) came back only a few minutes later to return it and to compensate them for their time and trouble. (: Don't worry!

  • This is fake to so many degrees.

  • the last guy is a filthy disgusting moneywhore jew

  • how can he still get change from paper lol

  • How does derren get change back if the cashier didnt see the amount he got?

    (First transaction)

  • @pcuserx I think it's because Darren has given 2 pieces of paper ad the guy assumed it was 20. Derren had to pay 18,55. It's just an idea

  • @bluebob80 "Derren" not Darren

  • @TheHowToMan1, That is all that is involved, but to pull it off is far from simple. The success rate for something as bold as this would probably be under 50%.

  • is it truely as simple as establishing rapport and then subliminally hiding a suggestion?

  • 1:20 hahahaha

  • this guys son is one lucky bastard

  • @292929johnny Derren has no kids... He's gay.

  • 3:25 dont you feel like a dipshit? haha

  • @nlpqwerty your a good person :D

  • fake as fuck -___--

  • do you know my dad is 65?

  • whoooops, didn't work with the hot dog-guy!

  • @trakomako

You are awake when you know this Earth is controlled by malevolent extra terrestrials and evil humans. You are awake the history of this Earth is major lie. And that we are not the first intelligent people here. You are awake when you want an utopia like civilisation where we live in love and harmony with the existance, and that this is actually possible. You are awake that we live in the 3rd dimension, and that there are 12 in this universe. The therm awake is a bit bigger mate:)

  • @dAt3q you are awake when you aren't sleeping -.-

  • i tryed this and it didnt work as i thought it would, i got kicked out of my fav store :(((

  • Unbelieveble!

  • i didnt payed for my stuff, while i was talking like crazy to the shopkeeper after i took some "funny pills". I payed him next day when i told him the truth. :)
