Men can work and bring income into the family... there are hardly any opportunities for them to escape their situation. They get married and still in poverty have to endure the same problems for own their daughters. The result? The cycle continues... dowry, etc. etc. etc.

The poor don't want dolls because they have to provide for her, get her married but the demands of the grooms' parents are endless; hundreds of women suicide (have known one personally in India) because they just can't see their parents working night and day and coming up short each time. Their humble... well... meager earnings really are just not enough to meet the demands of raising women in rural India.

No mother should have to face this situation. Noone!

We need to try to understand the root cause of such evil actions and pull it out from its rooooooot; I always seem to come to only one conclusion: POVERTY, the EVIL institution of DOWRY, lack of opportunities in rural areas for women in India.
