barely anything is actually "country" in nashville these days. the best true country sound you're going to get is in a more indie, alt-country genre anyway. i don't find taylor to be "country" in any way, but she is a good pop writer--one who is true to the melody and craft of a song rather than the odd futuristic sounds in a lot of pop today that tries to be interesting. what dumb is that you have to either wear a cowboy hat or put a fiddle in your alt-rock band to make it in the genre today

@CareBear1FANforlive Well, the thing is I just ignore everyone who isn't a Taylor fan's opinion. I don't really 'respect' it because I don't share it. I'm on a Taylor video, and a Taylor fan, so my opinion kinda HAS to be respected. :)

Telling a meaningful and purposeful story through a song, THAT song writing is country. So she is country. She defines herself as country-pop anyway, so let her be.

@TheLisi27 Exactly. Just having pitch perfect vocals means nothing if theres no heart or genuine emotion to it. That IMO is the main reason for T's success. Carrie has a great voice, sure, but her songs are just so....meaningless and empty to me. Temporary Home for example is just another sad generic ballad written by a WHOLE TEAM of writers
@threereapers I completely agree. Carrie's voice is almost no use if the songs she is singing have no meaning and soul to the audience. Empty, as you said it, is the perfect word. It's like she is just a messenger who can sing, but the message is not coming from her so it is not the same to the audience/fans.
