I have completed this game so many times now, I loved the machanics, the challenges really made this game aswesome for me. If you actually take the time to get good at this game you can pwn the fuck out of this game and have great fun doing it. This game is stunning! Just beat it on normal and have restarted it on Commando. I constantly see bad reviews for it though which blows my mind. I have realized that people who hate this game don't have the patience to master a difficult gaming skill. The only real downside to this game is the story. Graphics and gameplay MORE than make up for the story. This game is similar to Ninja Gaiden for xbox. Not easy at all, but incredibly addictive and amazing gameplay that makes you a great gamer.

I don't agree with this review at all for the most part. I'm so sick to death of games that are 'open world' 'explore everything!' That bullshit is one of the worst aspects of next-gen games nowadays, every game shoehorns in a sandbox approach, and I definitely appreciate one that goes for the good old fashioned level design.
I am not enjoying this game, I am finding it an exercise in controlling my temper, getting around using the arm is a particularly joyless/frustrating experience especially when you have to wait for him to drown before you can be sent ALLTHE WAY BACK to a far distant check point to do it all over again, needless to say I'll be trading this cack in for something more enjoyable.

Whats this BS about the weapons? The hiker is freaking huge, and the blast nearly shakes the room. The sniper is silenced, but satisfying. the Tarantula can take out 6 guys at once in a hail of smoke and rockets. The whole review could be countered by saying you suck at the game.
1) How does Rad Spencer's face penetrate Super Joe's glass/polycarbonate helmet?? I don't care HOW angry he was, it's just ridiculous.
2) I appreciated Mike Patton's voice acting. The character is supposed to be bitter and jaded, & I think he nailed this in his tone. I enjoyed his cinematic and narrative communications voice-overs ("Don't forget - that's people you're breathing!") - & not so much the in-game wise cracks at the enemies ("hole in one!" =P)
9) Lousy ending. For such a flimsy story that had been building up, there are many elements unexplained. What was Super Joe's master plan with taking over Bio Reign? Why was the secret device (forgot the name) so integral to the plan?
Going through simple button motions with dragon-fly winged metal drones holding "pitch forks" - AM I STILL PLAYING THE SAME GAME!?
10) The enemy soldiers don't really react when you're firing the Tungsten (basic pistol), even when it contacts after several hits. That, combined with the wimpy sound effect, makes it feel like a pea shooter.
8) Ends *unexpectedly early*. I wouldn't have guessed it was coming yet, if not for the % complete indicator when loading the game. It is entirely ANTI-CLIMACTIC, since you expect to fight at least one more boss, especially when it's such a big character in the series as Super Joe. (If they ever make a sequel, I hope they don't bring him back alive somehow just so you can fight him - ala Big Boss's returns)
5) Enemy soldiers look poor when running. The very WORST soldier-running animation in a next-gen game. They glide over the ground, irrespective of their simple stick-like leg motions.
6) Distinct LACK of controller vibration - simply adding more would have ratcheted up the action & made this game SO MUCH better. Pour it on liberally! as in MGS4, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Uncharted, etc
7) Not enough variety of game backgrounds. DESPERATELY needed a 4th Act in a different setting.
2) Attacks are limited. Can't help but feel you should be able to do more with the bionic arm.
3) Poor replayability in single player mode.
4) Emily *IS* your ARM?? Oh, come on! Ridiculous even for a sci-fi game and completely unnecessary melodrama that fails to emotionally move the player like it was intended to.

It consisted of only multiplayer, and just one map. I was immediately addicted to the shooting action. Sniping people in the game is fantastic! In the full game there is a total of 16 multiplayer maps, and 3 game modes. Not to mention it's beutiful lighting engine. Scenes in the singleplayer game will take you away.

wow, this game sounds like an epic disaster... I have agree that from the look of that footage it seems like GRIN had little to no idea what to do with the Bionic commando concept.
They should've cut out all the gun shit and made the arm the main weapon, and offer variations of how to use that are by either upgrades/transformations or strictly arm dependant melee.
Going from 2D Bionic Commando to a 3D Bionic Commando means they have to expand on the possibilities with the arm not limit it.
i like it, the only downsides i think were that the ending is weird and it came way too early, and the voice actor was really cocky. other than that i thought it was a pretty good game. i give it a 9/10.

This game is fun because of the limited reach... and the game's challenging because the pistol is not a BFG and you can't go everywhere.
Good fun gameplay doesn't mean the game has to make the character actions perfect (eg autoaim = lame).
This game has a little bit of puzzle solving, stealth, shooting (w zoom it's kinda fps), a bit of exploring... overall it's fun.
looking forward to the harder skill level.

This game is stunning! Just beat it on normal and have restarted it on Commando. I constantly see bad reviews for it though which blows my mind. I have realized that people who hate this game don't have the patience to master a difficult gaming skill. The only real downside to this game is the story. Graphics and gameplay MORE than make up for the story. This game is similar to Ninja Gaiden for xbox. Not easy at all, but incredibly addictive and amazing gameplay that makes you a great gamer.

I know! I just played the game for several hours and it had my heart racing and my hands shaking throughout! Sure, the opening levels are a little awkward and challanging as fuck, but the game still rules. We need more multiplayers.

I don't agree with this review at all for the most part. I'm so sick to death of games that are 'open world' 'explore everything!' That bullshit is one of the worst aspects of next-gen games nowadays, every game shoehorns in a sandbox approach, and I definitely appreciate one that goes for the good old fashioned level design.

I am not enjoying this game, I am finding it an exercise in controlling my temper, getting around using the arm is a particularly joyless/frustrating experience especially when you have to wait for him to drown before you can be sent ALLTHE WAY BACK to a far distant check point to do it all over again, needless to say I'll be trading this cack in for something more enjoyable.

Whats this BS about the weapons? The hiker is freaking huge, and the blast nearly shakes the room. The sniper is silenced, but satisfying. the Tarantula can take out 6 guys at once in a hail of smoke and rockets. The whole review could be countered by saying you suck at the game.

1) How does Rad Spencer's face penetrate Super Joe's glass/polycarbonate helmet?? I don't care HOW angry he was, it's just ridiculous.
2) I appreciated Mike Patton's voice acting. The character is supposed to be bitter and jaded, & I think he nailed this in his tone. I enjoyed his cinematic and narrative communications voice-overs ("Don't forget - that's people you're breathing!") - & not so much the in-game wise cracks at the enemies ("hole in one!" =P)

10) The enemy soldiers don't really react when you're firing the Tungsten (basic pistol), even when it contacts after several hits. That, combined with the wimpy sound effect, makes it feel like a pea shooter.

8) Ends *unexpectedly early*. I wouldn't have guessed it was coming yet, if not for the % complete indicator when loading the game. It is entirely ANTI-CLIMACTIC, since you expect to fight at least one more boss, especially when it's such a big character in the series as Super Joe. (If they ever make a sequel, I hope they don't bring him back alive somehow just so you can fight him - ala Big Boss's returns)

5) Enemy soldiers look poor when running. The very WORST soldier-running animation in a next-gen game. They glide over the ground, irrespective of their simple stick-like leg motions.
6) Distinct LACK of controller vibration - simply adding more would have ratcheted up the action & made this game SO MUCH better. Pour it on liberally! as in MGS4, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Uncharted, etc
7) Not enough variety of game backgrounds. DESPERATELY needed a 4th Act in a different setting.

1) Return of a classic
2) Some environments are gorgeous, such as looking upward after entering the Fissure.
3) Great to add the wire arm element to a standard platformer. (Also looking forward to this play mechanic in Batman Arkham Asylum)
4) Incredible boss fight with the Parking Lot Worm.

It's a stupid plot twist, sure. But think a bit outside the box. Is it actually Joe? Either Joe is the sniper, or he's actually held somewhere with Emily still in a coma.
Emily is the catalyst for nathan's bionics, so it's plausible that she's being held somewhere. Maybe in the next game, and there WILL be one (God willing) they'll probably explain a bit more about it all.

This game looked great in videos but fails miserably at home, the bionic arm has next to no use but to swing around which sucks as thats why I wanted to play the game to begin with take the guns out and make the arm the weapon. the weapons such as well as the targeting feature that is non existent. Most enemies can kill you easy with a few shots if you don't keep your distance which again makes this game terrible. This game had potential but the developer killed it

shooting up people across multiplayer and singleplayer provides a thrill unlike most games, especially across multiplayer matches. I fist discovered this game by playing the demo. It consisted of only multiplayer, and just one map. I was immediately addicted to the shooting action. Sniping people in the game is fantastic! In the full game there is a total of 16 multiplayer maps, and 3 game modes. Not to mention it's beutiful lighting engine. Scenes in the singleplayer game will take you away.

The guy who did the voice of Bionic Commando is Mike Patton. Mike Patton is the lead singer from Faith No More and Peeping Tom. For 96% of people this game sucks. I hated it but at the same time I want to play it again. Its a rental at best. When its $20 I'll buy it anyway.

wow, this game sounds like an epic disaster... I have agree that from the look of that footage it seems like GRIN had little to no idea what to do with the Bionic commando concept.
They should've cut out all the gun shit and made the arm the main weapon, and offer variations of how to use that are by either upgrades/transformations or strictly arm dependant melee.
Going from 2D Bionic Commando to a 3D Bionic Commando means they have to expand on the possibilities with the arm not limit it.

I played this game, beat it on normal, I am now more than half way through hard and a little more than a quarter through commando, I think my opinion is justified and I can back it up, if you like platformers you will like this game, I think this is one of few times i can say IGN was above gamespot in their review, I give this game a 9/10
