Foulani vient de Fulla ou plus connus en Français par Peuls, ce sont des peuples qui vivent principalement en Afrique de l'ouest, Sénégal, Mauritanie, Mali, Burkina Faso...mais y en a aussi au Tchad et au Soudan. Mais les gnawas tiennent leurs origines de plusieurs ethnies différentes et chantent donc des paroles relatives à ces autres ethnies tel les Bambara, les Haussa, les Yoruba... Soudani veut dire Soudanais, mais ce terme désignait à l'époque tout noir Africain. Pour les autres termes?
