Wow, I can't believe I'm replying to this, but.. A) Considering the size of Wall*E if he has a hard drive it's probably stored deeper in his chassis and is probably protected against the magnet (Can't have the robot frying every time it turns over a magnet in the trash). And B) Considering the level of technology in the film Wall*E may not even use magnetic storage devices anymore.
