I loved this ending (and the background music that went with it) and I also have to agree with some of the other posters here in wondering what the show would have been like if MR had stayed on board for the last few seasons. He certainly played his role as an antagonist extremely well.
Crazy!!! Every time I watch all seasons over and over again I cant help but suffer for Lex knowing the ANSWER is right in that damn fireplace he is near so many times. Also crazy in retrospect Lionel knew it was right under his nose. Bravo Lionel!!!!
awesome scene. i loved the whole veritas plot and how it all lead to this and the fortress showdown. storywise smallville gets better and better, well to me :p season 10 is great it is sad that my favourite show of all time will come to an end. i cant wait to see lex luthors return though
@Scoonertuna The show would never had made 10 years, but would have ended at season 8. There would have been nothing left to do after season 8.
But had Lionel not been killed off, he and Tess Mercer's character could have had an epic battle over LuthorCorp in season 8. They should have kept him in until at least the end of 8--looking for Lex, returning to his evil element and fighting it out with Tess.
