I´m a Steve Gadd fan, and before watching Buddy Rich, I thought that Gadd was the best...Actually, I´m not sure... Buddy Rich is not from this planet, is the maximun expression of art on drums I´ve ever seen. Amazing, incredible, espectacular.
what do you mean by opposite... he plays traditional... you have to tilt your snare to level with your hand .. or play it flat and high... i prefer the latter
if you must compare...lol...there is none...buddy was touring when he was 4...drummers will be chasing his skill and ability for many many years to come.we should all just be happy with the endurance and integrity of "battery","dyers eve"...etc...or the complexity and creativeness of "intolerence","aenima"...etc...or the beauty and genius of "trees","yyz"...not ramble about whos better and shit...ya know...
Neil Peart learned from Buddy Rich. All of Peart's solos are based on songs like Apples and Chelsea Bridge. Buddy was the best of all time. He played solos for 100X longer than Carrey or Peart , open handed wearing a full suit. That's talent, you can't even say Buddy isn't good.
this coming from someone who probably thinks Lars Ulrich is da bomb...you kids dropping Danny Carey and Neil Peart into the same breath as Buddy Rich are a riot.Carey and Peart would be embarrassed you'd even mention them next to BR.You don't have a clue.Get one.
I love all drum videos as I am a fan and player alike. Buddy Rich is by far the best drummer of all-time not just in my opinion but pretty much everyone elses too. The greatest living drummer is definitely Neal Peart.

Nice sentiment, on any other instrument. Unfortunately, on drums, Buddy Rich killed it dead. We are all fighting for second place from now on.

It was an okay solo.

Buddy had smokin' fast hands a lot like Joe Morello.

Joe morello and Buddy are nothing alike

Morello doesn't have half the speed of Buddy Rich. He's great, but he's no Buddy.
